Traded Jake Stringer [traded to Essendon]

The best the Dogs could hope for as far as draft picks go would be getting the Saints to give up 7 or 8. Even then, we'd probably ask for something back.

I can't see any of the teams below us giving up such a high draft pick for him especially when this draft looks as though most of the quality is in the top 5 or so.

If he ended up with Essendon I see pick 12 being about right but anything less the Dogs will probably ask for more.

It's going to be an interesting trade week.

I agree. It seems like pick 12 (or there about) would be the right amount for Stringer. I wouldn't be wanting to give pick 8.
That being said, I would rather Essendon trade for an inside mid. It's what we need more.

Literally any club would have to offer 900k roundabouts to entice him.

I think he's silly to be looking for an out after a bad year cause you and I both know he's not worth that. But that's not what he thinks.

Ask that at the end of 2015 though then yeah he's probably worth that.

He can get an ambassadors role lol

Awful logic.

Mitchell went for 14 so i guess there's no way Stringer holds more value right?
Lol

Titchell out of contract, was never going to renew and would have left for nothing had Sydney not accepted

Still amazes me what Gold Coast demanded for an OOC JOM and pretty much got it.

Stringer, contracted and even in a poor year still miles ahead of those former pick 21 guys.

He's top 10 pick worthy on potential alone regardless of what neutrals think of him.

700 * 4

Promise to play him on JJ in any game vs the dogs in 2018 and not judge on any suspensions received.

Done deal.

Goldstein ain't leaving and nobody wants to take on his big salary.
If the deal suits we could afford to pay a lot of it.

2 players that played their best football 3 years ago and both had off field issues. Dogs need a good ruck while in their window and we could do with a young gun as part of our rebuild. Schwass - Grant.

Contract means little when it's the club showing him the door.

The "potential alone" is all that will be traded for, nothing worth a first round pick over the past 18 months.

Problem is one is 23 and yet to come into his prime, the other is what, 29?
Correct - you would also get picks its not a straight swap. Grant was 22 and Schwass was 29 when we traded with the Swans.

The third man up rule really hurt you this year without a good ruckman. Again - your window is open - you need a ruck before English is ready and a move from both players might be best.

Stringer - watts - petracca
Garlett - hogan - hannan

Would be the most talented, inconsistent and mentally weak forward line in the league next year... possibly ever. How do we make it work?
Round 1: 25.17 (167)
Round 2: 6.12 (48)

Us getting goldstein would be the equivalent of Collingwood getting Mayne.
Not, the Dogs getting Motlop for Stringer would be the equivalent of Collingwood getting Mayne.

How highly do you rate Stringer after he had a poor season - like Goldy just did?
Difference between the 2 is 6 years. And Stringer was still our leading goal kicker despite missing several games through injury.

Would MUCH prefer to put our efforts into getting Stef Martin for 2 years until English is ready. If not then just go with Roughead again.

Stringer is 23 and has played through injury this year and the end of last year and still won our goalkicking.

Goldy has been a warrior but he's on the decline and without his contract you would have been on the Preuss train since the start of this year. We don't have a Stringer replacement, Crameri the closest (but poor) fit.
