I live in the neighbouring electorate and spend a lot of time in Goldstein. Zoe's picture is everywhere and so are her volunteers. Timmy might have to permanently decamp to Canberra while no doubt claiming exorbitant travel expenses.correction - former ABC journalist running against a hardline conservative (despite his comical efforts to brand himself a 'moderate')
in some ways its probably not a bad thing that the lnp moves further to the right ....... moderates will abandon the party in droves preferring to vote for candidates that better reflect their socially progressive viewsI hope that in the coming years, the LNP is reduced to a little rump in parliament. fu** them. They do not deserve to get anywhere near government after what they have done to the country - the country our kids have to grow up in.

Frydenberg, Wilson, and Liu are not only fighting as hard as each other to retain their incumbency, but they also have a lot in common: All three consistently demonstrate they care more about their power and standing within the party, their preselectors and their donors than they do about their conscience, their communities, and their country.
Gee I hope she wins. Has done her homework.
Nah.Yep... and when those kids are old enough, they'll probably vote for the Greens.
And in their twenties, they'll continue to vote for the Greens or maybe sway towards voting for Labor.
And in their thirties, they'll probably continue to vote for the Greens or Labor.
And then in their forties, they'll maybe continue to vote for the Greens of Labor.
And then in their fifties... having inherited the family residence in Kooyong... they'll probably start to think "fu** the poor people... fu** the old people... fu** the sick people... and fu** the environment. I've got mine, and I don't want to share."
And from that point on, they'll vote for the Liberals and regularly complain about how the younger generation want everything handed to them on a silver platter and if they would just stop eating avocado on toast...
Leafy inner east didn’t appreciate culture wars based election last state election. Look at the areas with biggest swingsView attachment 1397642
Which is exactly why Scott Morrison has studiously stayed the hell away from seats like Kooyong and Goldstein so far, because the Liberal campaign HQ know that he is electoral poison south of the Murray River, especially in seats like Kooyong.

Liberals too. In Goldstein Timmy (I'm a dobber) Wilson is struggling for funds and volunteers. The teals are doing some incredible campaigning - 85% doors knocked is both Kooyong and Goldstein is an amazing. Labor are lucky to do half of that in their seats
Lets face it - as far as climate change is concerned Labor can't be trusted - be better if they had to rely on teals to get anything done. The Teal movement has so-so much to do with the appalling treatment and utter disregard Scummo and his band of misogynists has for women. It's women who will be at the forefront of change. And God bless 'em for it.
Monique now favourite with bookies
Love to see the campaigner lose Cook.Interesting thought, but...
Back in 2007, John Howard not only lost the election but was ousted from Bennelong, a blue ribbon Liberal seat.
In 2018, in the bye-election triggered by Malcolm Turnbull resigning after losing the leadership spill, the Liberals lost the blue-ribbon seat of Wentworth.
In 2019, former PM Tony Abbbot lost the blue-ribbon seat of Warringah.
Liberal leaders don't a great track record of late. Maybe the voters of Kooyong are being proactive and looking to turf him before he becomes leader of the party.

Anyone surprised? Anyone????

And I'm guessing "yes" on this one.
Nah.
Circumstances have changed. Libs are skewing even older than before. Beyond a certain point, they themselves will have to change, as their voter base is no longer Boomers or Gen X but Y as well, and we ain't voting for them unless things change rather a lot because we will not own property under the status quo.
The wedding force between age and conservativism is property ownership. If they exclude people from that, they will not see the supposed transition from young left wing to old conservative, and that is provided one accepts the bullshit Churchhillian 'If you aren’t a liberal when you’re young, you have no heart, but if you aren’t a conservative by middle age, you have no head' horseshit.
