Frydenberg appointed Asia adviser at Goldman Sachs
Speculation has been rife about the next move of former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, after losing the seat of Kooyong to Independent candidate Monique Ryan.
Goldman Sachs has today announced Frydenberg’s appointment as Senior Regional Adviser for Asia Pacific.
Simon Rothery, Chief Executive Officer for Goldman Sachs in Australia and New Zealand said in the financial institution’s statement:
Frydenberg said:Our Australian clients will greatly benefit from Josh’s insights and expertise that have been gained from an impressive career which includes experience and perspectives across a range of sectors,.
I am pleased to join Goldman Sachs which is the pre-eminent mergers and acquisitions and capital markets adviser to clients globally. I look forward to joining the team and contributing to the firm’s leadership, its global capability, and its strength of client franchise.
I'm just confused as to why you kept mentioning Frydenburg as if he is some kind of asset, and not a complete failure that would be a millstone around the neck of this theoretical party? They presumably have the same dream I do that a parliament of independents, debating issues on merit and forming a consensus view on best solutions would be the best possible form of democracy.
Reality would suggest that's never going to happen, and if they don't unite themselves into a party then someone else will find a way to fill that space as a dominant centre-right force. If it's not a reformed Liberal Party, someone like Frydenberg but with genuine leadership and willpower could do it.
Not that it'd happen... but imagine if Turnbull rocked up in 2026 to run the Allied Democratic Party and managed to get Julie Bishop out of retirement in WA, Xenophon as part of the team in SA and the likes of Frydenberg on board combined with some already sitting members from the Libs and Teals. That'd very quickly turn the now conservative Christian dominated Libs into just the sort of party that Corey Bernardi always wanted it to be, and they could take their 5% national vote with them to sit alongside the Greens on the crossbench.
That's an absolute joke given that the government that he was a senior member of was so negligent in the Pacific that China was able to walk in almost unimpeded."Goldman Sachs has today announced Frydenberg’s appointment as Senior Regional Adviser for Asia Pacific."
Josh is pressuring them to rename the role Prime Minister of Asia Pacific Advice.
