Josh Kennedy (the better looking one) retires

Sydney Swans champion Josh Kennedy will call time on his decorated career, retiring at the end of the 2022 season.

The former club captain, 2012 Premiership player and three time All-Australian will hang up the boots after 16 seasons at the highest level.

Kennedy told his teammates earlier today that this year will be his last.

Josh Kennedy and John Longmire will hold a press conference at the SCG this afternoon.

Figured that he was good enough to warrant his own thread on the main board. Was a complete beast in the centre for a decade, other players finding it almost impossible to bring him down. Am going to miss him at the Swans.

He went to another level in finals and big games (almost single handedly carrying us over the line in 2016 against impossible odds), never played for frees, took cheap shots or got into trouble off field.

Pretty much the perfect role model and his retirement will leave a massive void at the club. I hope decides to stay around in some capacity.

He is also the 2nd most prolific clearance winner since the stat has been kept too.

As you say, hugely underrated in finals - would be one of the best finals players of the last 20 years.

After both his dad and grandad are legends of our club, bit of a bittersweet feeling to see him do his thing in another team's colours. Was especially jarring when his grandad was on the field to present the cup, etc prior to the 2012 GF, wearing a Hawthorn scarf whilst wishing Josh good luck, wearing the opposition's colours. Was good on the day as he so often was in the big games.

Been a great player for the Swans, just unfortunate he's had so many injuries the past 4 years stopping him being at the same level.

Would have him at EFC as a coach in a heartbeat.

Should have had a few more All Australians on his resume. Probably my favourite Swan of all time.

Performance wise comfortably in the top 5 I've seen with Lockett, Kelly, Goodes and Franklin. Champion of the club.

Nah seriously, another legend of the game in his own right. Seriously good player and like his West Coast counterpart, just seems humble as you can be.

I think Sydney should give him ten games even if it means wheeling him out on a wheelchair though, 290 just seems unfair for all he has given.

Always admired what he did and the way he went about it, just fully focused on winning the ball in the most intense of heat. A champion player and from what I've heard a champion bloke as well, congratulations on a great career without blemish.
