Judd - Is he a poor captain?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

It has nothing to do with Judd's captaincy.
I'd point more to the ex Carlton captains and heirarchy that have spoon fed and protected this bag of sh!t since day 1.

Not even a leadership group of Voss, Leppo, Black, Brown, Lynch and Leigh as coach could make Aker stfu

No one else could

True. Interesting that they ousted Aker for being relentlessly annoying and uncontrollable, and now Voss & Brown are happy to pick up Fevola.

Surely, of course. You have sold me.
Worst post ever:thumbsdown:

These are things you wouldn't understand.

It's not like Richmond has had a decent captain in most posters' memories.

Oh and how is that 5 year plan coming along?

ROFL.

Richmond supporters even having an opinion about leadership.

You couldn't make this sh_t up.

I feel he could have done more to minimise the impact of Fev's actions on B'low night.

Judd is a great player but he's not a great captain. If Fev were to act the way he did under J.Brown's leadership the whole situation would have panned out a lot differently.

Rather than simply smirking at Fev's childish antics Judd should have made an effort to remove a drunken Fevola from the situation.

Judd can't be blamed for everything Fev does, but his inactions on Brownlow night were glaring. He's also been non-existent when Fevola acts like a petulant child on the field.

Jono Brown won't be bullied with any pressure point gags, I assure you.

Can't blame Judd for this mess, or any other mess that has become apparent during his captancies.

Besides, didn't he say he didn't want to be captain before getting to Carlton and they did it anyway?

BRENDAN Fevola's Brownlow night of shame has been revealed as a 13-hour bender that began on Crown's VIP blackjack tables with skipper Chris Judd.

Police and liquor licensing authorities have spent the past few days reviewing casino surveillance footage as part of their investigation into Crown's handling of the Fevola fiasco.

The Carlton spearhead is first seen gambling with Judd in the high rollers' Mahogany Room at 2pm - about six hours before the Brownlow Medal function began.

The pair are seen sipping drinks and losing about $2000 each playing blackjack.

Turkey, Judd can't be blamed for Cousins' addictions or Fev's.

The problem is his inability to handle a brewing problem on the night. He started having drinks with Fev, he was sitting next to Fev smiling nervously when Fev was drinking and drinking, and after the count he was the butt of Fev's jokes.

I don't think a quality captain would be so ineffectual.

Interesting comments being posted............if we apply the logic that Judd is a poor captain because he couldnt control Fev then we should apply the same logic to Brett Kirk and Barry Hall......

if anyone suggests that Kirk is a poor captain then I would question your understanding of our great game...

Judd is a champion player and whether he is a great or poor captain is dependent on your definition....im sure the Cats rate Harley.....but he isnt a matchwinner.......make him a poor captain...I think not...........

Incorrect.

If Hall were to put on a display like Fev did at the b'low i have no doubt that Kirk, a fantastic leader would do more to diffuse the situation than what Judd did.

You can't compare Hall's on-field issues to Fev's off-field ones. Hall punching Staker is a split second instance, Fev's antics at the b'low carried on for hours.

....Does Judd have discipline over his troops? Does he set down hard enough team rules? Should he take some of the blame? Is he a poor captain?....
Very valid question IMO. The Fevola issues especially. This year's Mad Monday it was supposedly Judd who provided Fev with the dildo. Then at the Brownlow Judd was supposedly instigating the drinking. I guess it's for Carlton fans to judge.

Which raises the question of whether Harley should have been held responsible for SJ going off the rails & almost destroying his career. Of course we know the answer is in the negative, but where do you draw the line?

Is Richmond's captain of the day held responsible for Andrew Krakouer's misdemeanour, which ultimately resulted in his conviction & imprisonment?

Those advocating what a great leader Cousins was must surely be turning a blind eye to the off-field misbehaviour of Gardner & Kerr, among others, during his captaincy.

We could play this game for hours, but ultimately players who are going to misbehave will do so regardless of who their captain is. When a personality like Fev gets stuck into the p***, you can suggest to them that they slow down, take it easy, but try to stop them from drinking totally & the odds are it will end up getting nasty & you will do more harm than good.

Fev doesn't need a captain to make decisions for him, he needs counselling to deal with the problem he has when given unfettered access to alcohol. Unfortunately when he gets started, he does not know when to call it quits.

^^ true...i don't believe that cousins/fevs behaviour is judd's responsibility...but the fact that judd let fev hang himself on brownlow night shows how poor a captain he is....he really should've stepped in but let fev make a fool of himself...poor form
He did step in,as did many others from the club. They tried everything short of rugby tackling him and carrying him out, maybe they should have.

Poor captain? or shrewd mercenary?

Let WCE culture get out of hand... request a trade to VISY for huge $$$

Let Fev get sh*tfaced, demand he is traded... frees up even more $$$ for himself

Fevola was told numerous times that night to go home he didnt listen to anyone... he didnt even listen to his coach.. Judd could of done anything and fev would not of left

This is true. Judd should have been able to sort the problem out on the night, before it got so out of hand. In fact, Carlton as a whole could have handled it better. It doesn't take much for one their players or officials to arrange to have Fevola taken home after the count finished. All they needed to do was call a taxi and have someone escort him home, or tell the Crown staff to stop serving him alcohol.

Hang On! Hang On.... the topic changed and we are talking about Richmond now....

Speaking of captains.

Richie Vanderberg..... oh please Bwaaahhhhaaaaahhhhhaaaaaa.

Go back to SEN and complain about how you got screwed in trade period.

I love how the hawks give up pick 9 for a player recovering from injury and has only 3 years left. Then trades JK for a slab...

Bwaaahhhhaaaaahhhhhaaaaaa.

I reckon the Hawks will employ Grant Thomas as a consultant to play AFL without Ruckmen - LOL

Bwaaahhhhaaaaahhhhhaaaaaa.

Brett Kirk was seen pulling Hall away from explosive situations many times this year. Judd was just grinning and drinking with Fev and getting pwned by him on national television.

Like I said, Fev's drinking problems aren't Judd's fault, but they showed how ineffectual Judd is.
