Earlier in the year I heard some Geelong supporters note how Prismall is upset he isn't getting a game in the seniors. What's his engine and skills like and how has he been travelling since?

Would McPhee be enough to bring him to Essendon?

That response would suggest no. I'll play devil's advocate though, a number of Cat's supporters on this board really rate Prismall as one of the up and coming gun midfielders of the competition and the rest see him as trade bait. You'll have to wait for some of the supporters who don't rate him so highly to weigh in.

He would go awesome in the essendon midfield but i dont think you guys would have anything we would want.

He may be a gun, he may not be - but it would take a bit more then McPhee I think. Heck, I don't even know why Geelong would want McPhee.

We love him.
'Nuff said.

Prissa hasn't been in the seniors just lately because he is injured for over a month now (should be back in 2 weeks). If he was fit he would be very close to playing seniors (IMO). When he was playing in the VFL he was fantastic and he would have been very close to selection each week. We have such a strong senior side which is hard to break into. Next year I think he will be a regular in the seniors. It would be a mistake to trade him.

-played 8 games in 2006.
-played round 1-5 of 2007.

McPhee
Are you having a laugh ?

No not really...you forget McPhee is an AA defender (previous). Great mark, good skills, runs all day when fit.

McPhee's big weakness is his decision making - its border line stupid at times. He's struggling now because our half-back line really sucks. He definately plays when the team around him plays well, thats why I think he'd fit in well at Geelong.

So his decision making is poor but his strength is that he's a downhill skier...

I couldn't imagine us trading for anything other than picks if we trade this year.

I think we may be forced with salary cap concerns to start lightening the load. Getting some younger guys in on lesser contracts would be supported by trading for picks.

I just hope Prismall is one guy who stays though. He is better than your average up and comer and whilst its debatable I think there are more expendable guys on the list who will draw some interest before cutting into the real quality on our list.

I don't think the GFC would be interested in McFee. We have a fairly senior back line and have reasonable depth. It would not be in McFee's best interests to join a club where he may not get a game.

We would only trade Prismall for a first round draft pick as a minimum, if he wanted to leave.

It's a shame he has been injured over the last month because if fit IMO he would've probly been selected considering the likes of chappy, rooke, byrnes, varcoe etc have all been in/out of the side. look forward to seeing him again next year hopefully see him string a few games together. definately rated by a few.

Can't see Bomba letting Prismal go under any circumstances, I would think some older seasoned players who haven't been able to break in the best 22 for various reasons might be up for trade or delisting at seasons end.

I'm not going to even throw up any names on this option, for all sorts of reasons (primarily because we are still on a mission for 2007!) but also it's pointless at this stage of the year.

The vultures are looking for a carcass, and this will come up again before the year is done, we AREN'T a dead carcass looking to be picked off, and careful thought will required when they look at our list at the end of the year.

It says 1 week on the injury list... that would mean he wouldn't play this week but would play the week after. Thats why I said 2 weeks.

at who's expense??

bartel, ling, selwood, kelly...?

I'd say he would be up there with Kelly, Varcoe and Byrnes. He could replace any of these guys (more so Kelly than the others). They better watch out!

BTW MrGFC that is a disgusting analogy.

And to think I had thought the Primall love fest was over!

McPhee won the Bombers B&F and gained All Australian status in 04 and has carried a few injuries since then but still been more than handy. Geelong would be crazy not to at least consider this if it came up. I think he's about 25 or so, meaning he has plenty of footy left in him. Yes Pris is going to be a superstar and bring peace to the galaxy and all that stuff but seriously guys, open your other eye.

Byrnes yes, Kelly and Varcoe no. I dont think Prismall could put in the defensive work and tackles that Kelly and Varcoe do and i think position wise Prismall wouldnt suit to where Varcoe plays.

But Byrnes was up the ground a bit against Adelaide and alot of his delivery was very poor, so he could easily take his spot.

Prismall, while having not accomplished much yet, has already shown he will be a very very good player. McPhee looks to be on the way down. Its not smart business to trade an up and comer for someone who we already have better players then. McPhee about now is about on even par with David Johnson, and nowhere near Wojak. In our back 6, who could he displace?

That's the main point - I've quite a lot of respect for McPhee but where would we play him - and Prismall is too valuable a player to lose.

While they MAY be similar in value. Where is McPhee going to play? Harley & Mackie are playing his role and are better players I think.

Prismall's biggest weakness is his accountability. Allowing Simpson to pick up 45 possessions in Geelong's last loss was unacceptable and the reason he is playing reserves. At the time Selwood, Kelly & Prismall were fighting for 2 spots. Selwood was the clear winner while Kelly's accountability got him over the line ahead of Prismall.

Before leaving the side he was 2nd in our side for score assists and had a high number of inside 50's. I think he would be playing ahead of Byrnes if uninjured but when Chapman & Rooke return his opportunity in 07 will be gone (barring further injuries).

Prissa has a good engine and his foot skills are a strength. He kicks goals as a midfielder while also creates opportunities. I would say he would be a fantastic "poor man's" James Hird at Essendon. In my opinion Essendon will still need another extractor with grunt though.
