Since I am feeling very lazy today I thought it would be good for all of you to name player/players that we need to keep an eye on to win the game. Here is the one I would like to see:

John**** Vs Harding

Harding is a VERY dangerous player that we need to keep quite for us to win the game. His kicking is a bit shaky but overall he can kick a bag in a very short period of time. With Stiffy being the same height and having a bit of speed himself, I thought he would be a good match up for Harding. Stiffy will not lack in confidence thats for sure.

Who does Stenglein tag?????? Simpson, Grant, King or Stevens if he doesn't get ruled out??????

Stenglein to tag Simpson in my opinion Stiffy as the guy is a large possesion winner & uses the ball well.

I think the rest will sort themselves out unless the Roos go ultra tag mode,

Brent Harvey is usually very dangerous against us. The little buggar gets plenty of the ball & kicks goals too. Perhaps Edwards could match on him as we need someone with pace.

Right on the money Kane. He seems to hurt us every time. Mattner might get first go at him, to enable Edwards to be an atttacking player.

Stenglein will probably be on Simpson, who IMO is very under-rated and is top player.

Stiffy might get Harding, but there's always good old Benny to fall back on.

Benny might easily outmuscle Harding but I would have thought he wasn't quick enough ?

Harvey spends quite a bit of time deep in the forward line so whoever tags him also has to have good defensive skills as well as "negating" skills (if you know what I mean)

Stevens will probably get a week for the charge so that hurts us a bit (though he probably wasn't as damaging on Sat as he usually is - a very quiet game).

Someone will also probably have to take care of King he has had 2 blinders this year.

Kings 9 pointer in the third quarter basically undid all the damage that melbourne had repaired earlier on.

Roos are probably have a watchful eye on Goodwin and several watchful eyes on McCleod so it could be a good opportunity for a lesser name to come under the Roos guard

Will be a good opportunity (for me) to have a look Reilly who I hear good things about

The reason I nominated Ben Hart is because he is deceptively quick, quicker than most, and it has to be a quick player to keep up with Harding.

Harvey always hurts us up forward so your point about good defensive skils as well as pace is well made. Mattner has both, although he is relatively inexperienced.

Stevens is a great player, and you'll miss Captain Courageous even if just for the great example he sets for his team.

King's an interesting one because our wingmen have been in great form playing attacking footy. Not sure whether they'll try to shut him down or just let both sides play attacking footy from the wings, and gamble on having more of the ball.

Should be a good game.

Saw the incident on the news for the first time tonight Ausgard. Based on the tribunal's namy pamby approach, he'll get a game for sure. Very similar to the McLeod incident, jumping into the player, but not looking at the ball at the time of impact. Even though the player never got hurt in either McLeod's or Steven's incident.

Do you think Wilson will get suspended Macca? I thought it was undisciplined and late, but doesn't deserve suspension. Given the tribunal's attitude he'll get a week though.

Haven't seen the Stevens incident at this stage.

I think Wilson will definitely get 1 game and maybe even 2 , napsyd.

His was probably worse than Stevens in that he can't argue that he was trying to spoil the ball. All he could possibly have achieved is to hurt the player with a late crude hit from behind, which he did, and a lesser player than Torney (eg ****atoo-Collins) would have laid there like a bag of sh*t milking it for all it was worth.

I'll be amazed if he doesn't get at least one.

But then again it is the tribunal.

As long as they are consistent...

Must admit Hart was the 1st player I though about matching up on Harding. I don't think pace will be a major concern for Benny.

Talking of pace, would Mattner have enough for Harvey, as he is a very slippery character. Could be worth at least experimenting with for a while.

King v Burton perhaps. Birdman would need to be at his best as King is a smart footballer who can be very damaging.

Pity A Stevens will likely get a game. Unfortunately the tribunal have set a stupid precedent with McLeod last year. Bloody joke when the opposition player doesn't get seriously hurt - free kick / 50m sure, but games :o :o

Gee, I'm glad that I added the last part. The only consistent thing about the tribunal is that they are inconsistent!!!

Both Stevens and Wilson got off. See link below.

Nothing at all against Stevens and wilson, but when McLeod and other players who got suspended for similar offences last year see this they must wonder what the #$^@ is going on!!

Yep, they've done it again haven't they!

To my mind the Wilson incident was just the way he plays. If they rubbed him out for that then they'd have to consider rubbing him out every week.

Saw the Stevens incident this morning. Carbon copy of McLeod. I don't think Stevens should have been suspended. Nor should have McLeod.

Obviously happy that Stevens got off but it was a shocking tribunal decision.

As soon as I saw it I thought it was bad and nothing I have seen has changed my mind. I Don't think it matters that it was deliberate or not - it was careless and you need to protect the guy with the ball/eyes on the ball.

That said - I think David King is stil going to be the Danger Player -The job he did on Rigoni was top notch and when he kicked the nine pointer you could just see rigoni go BUGGER

Harvey will be his usualy class (so will McCleod:( ) and Stevens and Archer will give their usual effort (110%)

Should be a good little duel between Perrie or Stevens and Watt. I'd like to see how what goes against someone who is slightly more experienced rather than head and shoulders apart (like Lloyd and Neitz were)

Kingy on song

Ausgard, I loved how he went up to Rigoni afterwards and made the "hands up" nine point sign - typical Kingy. I reckon he is in for a big year !

Kingy is definately a Love/Hate sort of guy

Opposition supporters loathe him because he can be such an arrogant w@nker.

Roos supporters love him because .. well .. he can be such an arrogant w@nker

:)

Understand where you're coming from. We've got Nigel Smart!!! :D

Both have been top players over a long period and are so arrogant!! Don't you love them!!! :D

I think Smarty just wins the arrogance stakes by a bee's diaphragm!! ;)

I don't think the roos will ever come bottom because they are a club with character, guts and backbone. Sadly the only two things they lack are supporter numbers, and of course the money that a large member/supporter base attracts.

I can never understand why they don't have a bigger supporter base as they are a team that give full value for money - unlike half-hearted clubs like Richmond, St Kilda and Melbourne who could be described as dishonest in what they give their supporters in return.

The Kangaroos made the 8 last year, and I think it would be a brave person who would say they wouldn't again.

Good luck to you and all your roo mates - other than when you play the Crows of course!! :D

It's just one of those things that fate has dealt to the Roos (I won't go into the history of it, otherwise you could end up with a North Melbourne vs Essendon war on your board ;) ).

But I can say that the ONLY reason why I would want more fans for the Roos is for the financial certainty it would offer. Other than that, I'm happy to be a part of a club with a small, but tight supporter base.....there's something quite wonderful about going to a North match and knowing every other Roos fan on a first name basis ;)

I tipped us to finish between 9th to 12th, but then again, I'm a notorious pessimist.

Good luck to your blokes too (with so many ex-Roos in your team, I do keep an eye on how they're going), and I hope that Andrew McLeod finally wins a Brownlow Medal. He's only the second non-North player that I would go out of my way to go and see play (the other was Ablett).
