Wayne Richardson (Collingwood) still holds record for most disposals in H&A season - 748 in 22 matches.
He also had 35+ in 11 matches and 30+ in 14 matches.

Not sure why Richardson is not acknowledged then?

But you are correct. It was in 1971. Perhaps they don't trust the data capturing from 1971!!!!

According to the below he broke Matthew Boyd's record from 2012.

our midfield is simply to predictable, and has been said numerous times "way to one paced"...

time for hard decsions to be made, bold moves a la Cunnington out for a fast moving mid, hello Suns..........
Ridiculous idea. The year Swallow was out with injury Cunners picks up best and fairest.

Cunners isnt the problem. See Cunners and Swallow both play the same pack splitting, congestion navigating style footy. The difference is that Ben is an elite user of the footy and Swallow is our biggest liability on field. He needs to hop into the VFL to improve his game or hang em up.

We're entering an era of footy in which midfielders can't afford to be one-style players and they absolutely need to be able to play several types. And its almost a prerequisite these days that playing the midfield = fast. Sure having high tackle pressure, pack winning players is a good option, but thats less of a midfield trait as it should be a defensive trait. The midfield is the key to any forwardline and such should be PACKED with fast, elite disposal footballers who are also pushing into the forward line to assist chains + set up goals. I mean, the more midfielders we have assisting the more forwards we can have deep and creating space instead of doing it all themselves.

Cunners is the closest we have to being a dynamic mid. Swallow? Our weakest and a genuine liability. Needs to be out before trading Cunners is even considerable.

Stats themselves aren't necessarily important, anyone who watches Rockliff play will see that.

However a player who can rack up big stats and be dangerous at the same time is bloody important - we only have two, one is Wells and the other has been retired, and neither rack up stats near the best midfielders in the comp despite being the players that hurt other teams.

We must improve in the middle, and I hope with retirements and trades/FA we focus very much on this.

I think we have enough talls coming through, have a million flankers which we can use, it's time to focus on getting genuine jets in the middle and i'd aggressively trade for it if need be.

Trying to retain possession of the ball rather than bang it on the boot for a chaos ball tends for your stats to go from 25ish to 35ish as you do a lot more give and gets. The lack or run and carry is why we have poor disposal numbers in general.

Just out of interest let's say Lachie Neale plays for us.

How much difference do you think this would make to his stats?

He's a natural ballwinner so would our game style/plan really affect him that much or a player like him?

And going the other way do you think someone like a Wells would rack up more ball at another club?

We broke even on the All Australian caps though so taste it, Lachie.
Neale's already been voted "unluckiest" to have missed out. Guess working hard and getting the ball the most means nothing. Selwood GTFO.

Taz just as unlucky or robbed would be more appropriate. Talia GTFO.

If nothing else changes? His disposals would go down if there was nobody spreading for him.

Elite players tend to demand that the workrate of players around them improve, when Judd went to Carlton there was in improvement in work rate from their other mids, but it kind of waned as Judd got older.
