Well that worked:rolleyes:

Gill has to be either Perrie or Burtons love child...fantastic mark out of position, puts on pretty good pressure when the ball comes to ground but his kicking for goal is as useful as an ashtray on a motor bike.

Campbell...not even worth tiring my fingers typing.

Who else can we play?

You`re right. lets just keep playing 30+ yo guys and hope they can still cut the mustard for the next 5-6 years, who needs to introduce new kids anyway.....

I thought Gill was outstanding for his first AFL game.

Did you post similar threads when the Adelaide teams you would have picked were getting beaten also? Or only when Craig starts the 'future focus' that everyone else here criticises him for not doing.

For christs sake, its his first game!

PS : Still got more touches than Shirley would have.

gill was pretty good today, may have been a few nerves with the kicking perhaps? certainly looked pretty good

campbell, showed a couple of nice things, give him a couple more weeks then we'll find out more i guess..

i'd like to see meesen play next week at maric's expense, maric was pretty quiet today

First game in and you are bagging them already? VB was shocking as was Dogga. I knew that they would become whipping boys if we lost....

I gave Gilly credit...but his kicking was atrocious.

I'm happy with the future focus, but in hindsight, its too late.

your credability is now less than OBJ

Fair chop vB was one of the few who provided some run today (although his disposal at times did put blokes under pressure)

As for the OP, great work singling out the two first gamers. Especially when one was in our best half dozen bar his disposal and the other, albeit through limited game time, showed some nice things.

And people bag me?

Gill was awesome today. Gave us a real target up forward and was often leaping against two or more defenders.

Campbell had 8 possessions, and spent about 50% of the game on the bench. What did you expect? I liked his confidence to run and break tackles, but should have spent more time in the midfield.

Thought both were ok today all things considered. Tough game for your debut with our season on the line, the emotion with Sheeds and all.

Gill was eccentric at times, but his kicking let him down somewhat, Campbell was a little quiet but showed class, poise and balance. Both worth persisting with for the rest of the season IMO.

If we are going to point fingers, lets point them at the more experienced players.

Doughty - Absolutely woeful, did one good thing all day and I'm sure that
was accidental. Time for a run at South.

Johncock - Certainly looked like he didn't want to be out there today.

Gill and Rocket were quite credible on debut today.

I think his disposal, and the fact he put others under pressure was what gave me that impression. Your comment on his run is a fair assessment tho.

I'm surprised it was only 8, he provided some real run and carry with the ball and as he gets more comfortable his disposal and tackling will improve. Definitley worth persisting with:thumbsu:

Unfortunately Gill's kicking display today was more the norm than the exception. He is still worthwhile out at CHF though. His field kicking is actually quite good.

Agree re Campbell. Disagree with Maric. I thought he made a difference in that last quarter. Laycock was killing Hudson and it wasn't until Maric went into ruck the Crows started to gain some ascendency. Meesen wouldn't make any difference and isn't as advanced as Maric.

topjars, get stuffed.

Spot on. Bryce also showed us what a good tackler he is, granted they were broken a few times but he went in hard. He made a few mistakes but what else would you expect from a first gamer ?? Every time Gill go a kick we closed our eyes but he was pretty solid also. Topjars are you in fact David Schwartz ??

I'm happy with the future focus, but in hindsight, its too late.

When would you like to see young kids replace the normal 22? When we were flying last year?

Its been a shiteful year all year for us, we picked up and ran with the injury curse we contracted a few games before the finals last year. We havent had key players all year to choose from and havent had a settled lineup all year.

Yet until about 2-3 games ago we were still in it as a top 4 side if we could put it together. Of course then we lost even more of our structure in Bassett and Rutten and became even more inconsistent.
Now is the time to start playing young kids.

I didnt see Cambell too much, but he spent large parts of it on the bench.
Gill I`d give a high B+. Considering how he`d have been going mentally I think he played awesome. I would have given him an A- but for the easy shot he missed. Get a forward coach to work on his kicking style (he seems to slice through the kick, splaying it to the right each time) and he`ll be a gem.

Or we could have kept with the 'known knowns' of Perrie, McGregor and Bock up forward and probably still not won and still been none the wiser as to who can play next year.

Cambell was good. I just hope Gill doesn't turn out like Sarge...as in he can't kick goals

My mate does stats for the tiser for North Adelaide. When I have spoken to him about Gill everything he said happened today as in he is a great mark, great workrate, great play reader, but shocking kick.
