Retire:

Clarke
Torney

Delist:

Griffen - has not put weight on, and is too far away in making it to stay on list
Hinge - nothing special
Skipworth - has value but IMO won't find a club in a trade

Trade:
Massie
Stevens
Reilly (only at his request)

Torney should retire? Have you seen him play this year? He's only 29! He was in my top 5 last week. His skills are sublime and he still has the pace to chase down an opponent and the strength to crunch through the packs. He'll be in our best 22 for at least 2 more years.

Retire:
Clarke - Was already going to retire last year. Huddo, Biggie, Meese & Maric fill the gaps easily. Great player and highly underappreciated in his time.
Hart - I agree he was in stellar form earlier in the year, but his form after the broken arm has shown that he's lost his touch. He would probably play a few games next year, but we can't afford to have an old player with recurring injuries, struggling to find form again in our backline and limiting the experience of our youngsters (I have Pfeiffer in mind). His service has been priceless, but his time has come.

Delist:
Jericho
Hinge
Gibson - injuries have ruined his chance to develop in a strong key forward. I can't see him coming back from here.

Trade bait:
Biglands
- I love the guy, but we need to give M&M maximum game time this year. Huddo will lead the way.
Reilly - only if he wants to go or we need him in a trade with a Victorian club. I still rate him very highly, but we can cover his role at the club and he may wish to leave.
Perrie - never been a fan. Doesn't win games.
Skipworth - AFL quality player but not in our best 22
Massie - AFL quality player but not in our best 22

RETIRE:

Hart
Clarke

DELIST:

Jericho
Skipworth
Hinge
Griffen

ROOKIES:

Bonadiccio - Keep
Delist the rest.

The concerning thing for me is that all of our delists are all youngsters under the age of 22. Despite what Craigy said about bringing youth into the club our list of under 22's is still dangerously thin when compared to other clubs.

Delist/Trade

Not sure who is worth what to whom. Not even sure how many we can drop and effectively trade/draft to replace. But ATM these players in my eyes need to have their future with the club seriously re-assessed.

Stevens
Massie
Shirley
Jericho (although I'd like to see him given another chance, I doubt he will be)
Skipworth
Biglands?? (As much as I love the big fella, is there room for him with Huddo/Meeson and Maric?)

The other youngens that we (interstaters) havent had a chance to see yet I cant pass judgement on.

LOL

Are you always this funny? Why the crows would look to trade their hardest midfielder after the major thing that stopped them making the GF was a lack of midfield toughness. If Thompson, Goodwin, Reilly etc. had the toughness and determination of a Shirley then you'd almost have the perfect midfield. Don't get me wrong Goodwin is a star and Thompson/Reilly have potential to get there, but Shirley is a must keep!

On to Biglands, so what happens if Hudson falls over again? No-one would wish it to happen but this would leave you with Maric and Meesen in the ruck. Good luck with that! Won't happen unless you pick up another ruck in trades. Seriously though - won't happen.

agree, with that a few people may not agree with this one but i reckon we should make a go for Tarrant or Kingsley both are matchwinning forwards and with our midfield delivery could become quite valuable.

I think that forward line is too tall. Personally, Perrie doesn't make the team anymore. I keep Bock forward. Put Bassett at CHB. Bring Pfeiffer into the team. I also have Knights on the bench instead of Porps.

Italics for positional changes. Underline for team changes.

That backline would have to be the shortest in the AFL. What a terrible balance back there

Fair call. I'd bring McGregor in then. Doughty to the bench for Pfeiffer, Torney up to HBF, McGregor in the back pocket.

Why do people think Skipworth, jericho and even Stevens and Massie have a trade vaue where would be getting better than what we already have?
I think its more a matter of those boys being good enough to play AFL football but having limited opportunities with us. Craigy said that he would trade players who are good enough to play AFL football but might not get the opportunities with us. He thinks he owes them that much which is fair enough IMHO.

We could ask a few clubs (Kangaroos, Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney, Western Bulldogs and Brisbane) if they are interested in a swap for a 3rd round pick for Hayden Skipworth.

I would make a play for the Western Bulldogs first round pick 11 by offering Ken McGregor to the Brisbane Lions, they send Jason Akermanis (we could add Hayden Skipworth or Luke Jericho as well) to the Western Bulldogs and we get pick 11.

I would look at offering Luke Jericho to Carlton for Trent Sporn (as extra midfield strength) or Geelong for Andrew Mackie.

Massie and Stevens may not have any real value to them other than package players so it would be best if we simply kept them for depth.

You may be right but averaging some 6 games a year over the last two years is not a good omen.

We are getting dangerously close to havingt a real problem with so many players around the 30 year mark.

If Roo, Macca, Goodwin and Edwards go on then we have to start moving some older players on or:

1. There all going to go at the same time (aka Carlton)

2. They're going to logjam young players from coming thru - Meesen, Maric, Porplyzia, Pheiffer.

IMO Torney will hold the likes of Pheiffer out as he will start probably as a HBF.
can't play Massie and Torney in the same side so some tough calls will have to be made and the consistent injury factor is the ONLY reason I nominated Torney....not because of his playing ability.

Double talk for "they're not good enough"

Why are people listing Stevens as a possible trade?

He has improved out of sight this year in defence and I think he will be even better next year after a full pre-season focused on playing at CHB and in the knowledge he is part of the First XXII. Hopefully he will bulk up a little as well.

With Hentschel's injury and Bock's form yesterday we need Nathan to play at CHF, and Stevens at CHB allows us to.

So the wash up of that would effectively be McGregor for pick 11, won't happen. Given our thin KPP stocks, if we traded or delisted a KPP this year we would be flirting with disaster.

BTW folks anyone notice I haven't nominated McGregor and Shirley for trading

Maybe my assessment is more accurate than some here suggest......certainly I have been vindicated by the non selection of McGregor in any finals game.

Call it bad form or whatever but fact is he wasn't deemed as critical to the side as Roo, Macca, Burton, or Hart.

In fact even Stevens was preferred, who a lot here are wishing to trade.....

At this stage we still need Shirley and McGregor for list balance but I expect both to not be automatic selections in 2007

I take what you are saying on board about a limited number of KPP but if we have a large amount of injuries to KPP again then it will simply give an opportunity to someone else.

Scott Stevens basically saved his AFL career this year because of injuries, if the same thing was to happen next year, maybe it will be Chad Gibson who can take an enormous stride towards finding his niche as an AFL footballer. If someone doesn’t step up then we could lose a few more game and drop down the ladder, so what is the different between finishing 3rd and 16th?

With pick 11 and pick 14 we can pick up 2 very good young players who may develop into very good player (granted they may not) but that’s the gamble with trading and drafting.

Either we stick with what we have or we take a risk and try and find a gem.

Oh When the Saints said:
I though Jericho looked promising when he played a few games. What happened to him - was he injured or something ??

For a bit, yeah, but mostly he's just ****.
