Mega Thread List Changes, Drafting, Trading & Rookie Thread

any way i look at it i see a win. which probably means we go extreme left field to escape that. lol.

from the many descriptions ive heard,

grundy.- elite ruck game winner.
toumpas.- elite mid game winner. kicking skills, composure, and run.

both very likely gone before our pick.

mayes- elite kick pacey tall winger. gets on the scoreboard.

orourke- inside/ outside mid good skills. sounds like a good all-rounder.

wines- big strong inside workhorse.

kennedy- forward/mid.tiny, fast, furious around the ball terrier. great kick, great around goals.

left field would be,

menzel.- hff/ mid. genius natural footballer. super super talent. terrible terrible body.

stringer.- flanker inside mid 3rd tall. strong, long kick ( well was before the leg anyway, i havent heard reports since?) competitive beast. has not looked the same since a terrible leg break.

plowman.- 3rd tall/ kpp/ midfielder. fisher with better mid type skills they say.

shaw.kf.- kick it to me kick it to me type. doesnt do much else.

there are so many good kids at the top of the list i think we couldnt miss as much as you say you cant miss in a subjective situation such as drafting kids.

if you have one guy who can jump 20 cm higher than nicnat, and another guy that jumps 1 cm higher than nicnat, ild take the guy that can actually learn how to play football.

in footy there are so many players who are on equal footing athletically , but are so hugely different in talent. athleticism is a distant distant 4th to ( in no particular order) skills, work ethic, and understanding/ ability/ smarts/ natural feel for the game.

if he's 8foot tall jumping probably is out of the question. as would be running, getting up from a seated position, and virtually anything that required blood to pump through his heart.

Liam Jurrah as quit Melbourne and wants to be traded to Crows, Port, or (maybe out of his control) Her Majesties Hotel.

The fact he doesn't front the court until March is a worry.

I think you've left off one other strong contender philthy, especially given Port isn't always a fan of doing the expected...

Jackson Macrae.

He might not be generally regarded as such a high pick yet, but I think he'll get there come draft day. And if Mayes is gone, and you decide Menzel is too big of a 'risk', he'd be my pick for you guys. He has the raw talent and explosiveness that you'd be after in a top 10 pick. Whereas you could perhaps get similar results with later picks in some positions (inside midfielder). And there is no concern over height either, he is 188cm not a 174cm midget.

And if you want a quick idea of what to expect, I've made the comparison to Steele Sidebottom and Humble Minion (the best Victorian 'scout' BigFooty has) said Steve Johnson.

yeah, i love everything i hear about macrae. tall, fast, great kick, and racked up some of the biggest numbers in champs. my greatest sorrow was you pushing him up your draft order out of reach of ports second rounder chris. for once i hope your terribly terribly wrong lol.

i keep thinking orourke will be the way we will go but now im thinking he is going to go to melb or even more likely to the dogs. im really liking the top ten this year.
