Blee's an interesting one. I think people have gone off him a bit too quickly. He looks to me like someone who will never be a big size, but will be a diligent defender with good poise. It was noticeable with the few possessions he had in his four matches, that he does use the ball well - the one exception being his kick for goal on the weekend.

I think Jonas has a position locked away in our back 6 for the start of next year. But there may also be room for Blee to play as the third tall back and allow Jonas to play on the trickier, cleverer forwards (see the jobs he did on Martin, Johnson and Rockliff).

Blee goes OK - but he does play with a lack of confidence in himself. It's almost like he doesn't think he should be out there. With a bit more weight and some work on his confidence could see him get a regular spot, particularly if Chaplin goes.

He did get GF during the pre-season. I wonder who is due to get it next pre-season?

Koby Stevens would be a better target. Mates with butcher too apparently

Don't like our chances of getting him, he'll have plenty of suitors in his home state of Victoria. It'd take a hell of an offer to convince him to come here rather than going to whichever of the 10 clubs in his home state offers him the most.

What do people think about drafting Talia immediately after Butcher?

That way we have generational bookends and an insurance policy in case Trengove doesn't come good or anything happens to Carlile and Chaplin. Then we could take a midfielder with #16.

Thoughts?!?!?!

Nah. Talia is too generic and boring. Pass for me.

Im still interested in James Bennett from North Adelaide. Good size, still young, picks up abscene amounts of the football and is hard as nails.

Talia was a midfielder, comparisons to Chad when he was drafted (big bodied mid) Andrew Moore was a Ryan O'Keefe comparison when that type of player looked to be the ultimate forward with the direction the game was headding.

Moore will be ok, take a deep breath and think about where they both were 12 months ago. Talia would have been lucky to get a gig in the back pocket, opportunity when correctly prepared is huge, Moore with 8kg's and two preseasons into him will see us with a star midfielder.

Agree - the trouble when judging our recruiting continues to be the fact that all of these kids have been hampered by injury and poor coaching/development. I still think we erred badly in that draft in not snaring Talia when we had the chance, but Moore showed some real improvement this year and importantly got his rewards at AFL level through sheer hard work and earning his stripes. Looking forward to seeing him in action again next year, but I hope he can add some strings to his bow, get a bit more of the footy and show us some of that offensive power he was touted as having, as a good overhead mark and goalkicking utility.

If Talia was at port he probably wouldn't have had any training in contested defending and would crap himself in any one on one. That said, he has had a good year (probably a bit overblown based on how much the crows midfield has been at full strength and dominating), but still could end up as Jared Rivers or a Carlisle/Chaplin.

With the 8kg's Jobe has, Moore would be able to stand up in congestion, shake a bloke with a wiggle and tackles will stick moreso. Moore, while being our biggest physically is still a kid when compared to the similar type mids playining consistently at AFL level!

Talia was 194cms at the time of the Draft and was rated as the second best KPP in the class behind Butcher who could play either end. As it was he was named CHB in the U18 AA Team.

Not sure if srs. We need flankers.

Why the Moore hate? Did I miss something?

No hate at Moore from me. Just disappoint that once again we seem to have practised shitty list management.

Butcher and Talia were rated as the two premier bigs of the 2009 draft - albeit not Fraser/Pavlich hype-levels, but #1/#2 nonetheless. Given where our list was at, Tredrea last legs and Westhoff a stickman it made nothing but sense to draft Butcher if he slid as expected. Many of us here and in the meedya thought it made sense to double-down with Talia given you can never have too many bigs and it gave us insurance if Trengove's iffy leg didn't come good.

As it happened Moore became the annual top-10 late bolter and Williams/Rohde promptly bit at #9, with Talia unavailable at our next pick at #16.

Whatever you may think of him, Jake Carlisle was still available at #16

But Pittard ranked in the top-1 percentile of the Wonderchoc.
Nah, he was at least partly Hocking special I'd reckon. "Get this kid, when we played the Sale Of The Century board game at the Falcs, he won!"
