Can we re draft Hunter to the Rookie list, thought it was 3 years max?

Agree with Cheney to rookie list. I think we like the idea of using the rookie list to hold a couple of depth players and give more mature aged prospects a go, rather than taking a punt on long shot 17/18 year olds. I think we’ll aim to run with a 38/6 list, but if a talent slips late, like Davis did 2 years ago, we’ll run with a 39/5, rather than wait to the rookie draft and risk losing them elsewhere.

I expect we’ve recognised a more mature aged ruckman, but want to pick him as a rookie, hence no other activity in trade week. Chol maybe the one.
We can keep him on the rookie list for a maximum of 3 years. After that, we have to delist him or promote him. Once delisted, we are free to re-draft. Re-drafting him in the RD should (I think) reset the 3 year clock.

Kelly is better than cheney and i guess seen as a potential wing/tagger option. Otten is more versatile than cheney and i personally have a soft spot for andy. What he lacks in pace he makes up for in versatility and leadership. I like cheney as a footballer and he is unlucky to be cut but he just isnt viable moving forward. Also feel lyons is terribly unlucky to be delisted. Offered alot more to gc as a footballer than 3 quarters of their list. But hey, modern day footbal ey, no room for pure footballers if they dont play both ways.

You're in a very small minority, thinking that Kelly is better than Cheney. They tried him on the wing late in the season... it was a dismal failure.

I wouldn't be too concerned about Lyons' delisting. I suspect this move was driven by Lyons & Brisbane, rather than GC.

Nah I dont think he is, not with the return of Smith. You don't just delist best 22 players....

Brown Talia Deodee
Laird Keath Smith
I: Milera

But if any of Doedee/Laird/Smith/Brown/Milera were to go down Cheney would and should be the first one in no doubt.
Mackay?

Not necessarily.
Delisting made sense - we have four picks inside 21. Keeping Cheney means only three open list spots.
What if at the last minute the club we have been negotiating with doesn't want to trade the picks anymore?
Or if similar deals for that fall through. It would be relying too heavily on our pick trades being successful
Keeping Cheney in that example means we can't use pick 21 - rating Cheney higher than the 21st best youngster in the draft; which he is not.

As much as he offers, which is a decent amount when fit, keeping him made no sense in the scheme of the draft.

Now if we do end up doing a 2-for-1 or a 3-for-2 deal, then we can take Cheney as a rookie or with pick 73 (if there isn't a better option available).
I agree. It’s a bit of a flaw in the system though and seems unfair to players in Cheney’s they position
