Well it's been announced and it's coming this year, so might as well get the thread for the no doubt 2010 GOTY contender.
Officially confirmed by Sony and set for a late (our Summer) 2010 release as well as the very first trailer.
LBP2 will be more streamlined, feature filled and fantastic than the first. Everything from LBP is coming over to LBP2 as well, including DLC and EVERY created level. Not to mention will cover a ton of genres, not just platforming. And I for one can't wait to get those late nights playing going again with caMo, Kerrby and whoever else wants to get in on this amazing game.

I’m pleased to share some exciting news involving our crafty, stitched-together character we all know and love – that’s right, I’m talking about the one and only Sackboy. Today, we are officially announcing that our cloth friend and all of his fellow Sack-people will be back for a completely new adventure in LittleBigPlanet 2, which will be released later this year for PS3!
LittleBigPlanet has always empowered users to create their own levels by utilizing the same tools as the development team. Now in LittleBigPlanet 2, we’ve upped the ante, giving players the ability to not only make better levels, but completely new games – think top-down racing games, multiplayer shooters, flying side-scrollers, RPGs, etc. The possibilities are really endless.
LBP2 will also have a loads of new features, including revamped graphics, a fresh storyline, added accessories and equipment for Sackboy, and much, much more – trust me I’m only scratching the surface here!

- Hand-Made Arcade: A super-tribute level to tons of arcade classics. Embraces the hand-made art from the first game. Pixels made of cardboard and wood.
- Designer Organic: Eco-architecture comes together around a designed and controlled version of nature. Described as “art noveau”. The closest to nature Sackboy gets in this game. Elaborate designs comprised of plants.
- There is an all-new level creator and it is not just a tool to create platform games.
- As examples, the game 100% encourages the player to create game types and wants you to make a shooter, a racer, puzzle games, Space Invaders clones, even RPGs
- A player can even customize a HUD. The example given is a health bar for a fighting game.
- All DLC from LBP1 transfers over to LBP2. Including downloaded content packs, costumes, etc.
- A Media Molecule developer has created a fully-functioning Command & Conquer Clone
IGN: LBP2 FIRST LOOK
First up, Media Molecule promises all those existing user-created levels will work seamlessly with LittleBigPlanet 2. Which begs the question, what's it got up its sleeve to make us hand over the cash a second time? Unfortunately, the answer's not particularly succinct, unless you're happy to settle for, "A lot". You see, to really understand Media Molecule's ridiculously grand ambitions for its follow-up, you kind of have to start from the inside and work your way out.
