RD-
1. Rerookie Young
2. Rerookie Callinan
3. John McCarthy
4. Marc Lock
5. Gibson Turner
6. Anthony Tipungwudi
No need to re-rookie Callinan, given that we've already given him a new contract. He hasn't been delisted, so why would we feel the need to re-rookie him?

My mistake, forgot that we picked him up in the RD not the ND. We won't use all 6 picks most likely anyway. Maybe Chad Sandilands could be worth a spot on the rookie list? Has a lot of work to do but will probably end up a big boy (already over 200cm)

Without knowing anything about him, beyond that highlights package, Waldhunter looks like a manchild to me.
Already AFL playing weight. It's easy to stick tackles in the juniors when you've got a man's build.
I like his ferocity at the ball and contest, but, again, it's much easier to put your body in when you're 10 kilos heavier than every other midfielder on the ground.
Still, his tackling technique is clearly good, and he's hungry for the ball - qualities we sorely lack as a team. I'm just a bit wary of a highlights package that only shows he can do two things. I'd be interested to learn more about him.

Tackling is really his only trump card at the moment. His disposal by hand is fairly good however his mind can sometimes wander and as a result his kicking can suffer. Has a fair left boot on him and his kicks are generally pretty penetrating but he can abosutely butcher some easy kicks. He also contributes though other 1%ers. Think of Sloane the year he missed the draft. Is a specialist inside mid atm. At the end of the day his skills need work and he needs to build up a better fitness base but he provides intangibles that cant really be coached (naturally attacking mindset). The foundations to be a good player are there its just that he needs a bit of polish.

Some club will pick him up simply because how long it took for his brother to come on and how good he became.

I would have no problems with us picking up Waldhuter at 27. I'm sure he would be available there as well. We have two many players that are not willing to put there bodies on the line. Patty and Sloany are the only two that do it consistently.

McKenzie would be my other option but I think he may be gone by 27.

Talia would be another good pickup. Could really help both of them (Daniel and Michael) as they could form a really good partnership together. If GWS and WB pass on him, I think we could get him.

Sounds exactly like Dangerfield :o

Scotty Thompson and Jared Petrenko might be a tad miffed by that statement I'm tipping!!!

I wouldn't pick up a KPD in the 1st round if it was up to me. Our depth there isn't great but we dont have an immediate need because our core group is strong. Would go after a project KPD in the 3rd round and/or pick up a more mature KPD option in the RD (e.g. Marc Lock). Our 1st should me used on the best mid available IMO. Mckenzie would be awesome but as you say he might be gone (I think Ess may have been into him). Would pick up Waldhuter in the 2nd because he is a project and I think that he will still be available a pick 46.

I was thinking more of the younger brigade. Scotty is a champion and always has been.

Jared form was really good in the 2nd half of the year, but he was missing in that first half. Patricks was to, so I'll admit to that.

I disagree mate. We take best available IMO. The quality around pick is baron, and it really is a gamble. I highly doubt there will be any quality midfielders available.

Save up our Midfield spots for next years draft, and just go all out on Mids.

Don't have an issue going for best available, I just think the best available will be mids at Pick 27. I disagree that there will be a lack of quality in this draft. The players past about the top 30 require some development yes but the ability is there (see my analysis on pg 61). Clubs that are good at developing players (e.g. Collingwood) may find some gems in the later rounds. Considering our recent drafting history and our resources we should be one of these clubs. Don't worry about next years draft until we've sorted this one out mate, we've already got one of the best mid prospects for 2012 anyway through Crouch, anyone else is a bonus. Will be very interesting to review this draft in a few years...

The only reason Aaron is any good is because he is 211cm! His brother is shorter, so would want to have more skill to compensate.

Rumour has it that there was some sort of testing done to Chad pre-combine that predicted he may grow to a similar size as his big bro. Chad is a massive project that will take years to show any benefits but there rewards could be huge. Statisically a lots of the best rucks over the years have come out of the rookie draft and lower rounds of the ND. This is where Chad will end up, if he is still available late in the RD I would be tempted to take a chance on him.

How did 211cm work for Peter Street?

There's a lot more to Aaron Sandilands than sheer height.

Absolutely. This may have been true early in his career when he was "just a tap ruckman", but he's good around the midfield now too. He wouldn't be a multiple-time AA ruckman if he was just good at palming the ball.

I take your point guys, but still tend to disagree. Think he was only given the opportunity to develop because of his height and still think he should do more with what he has.

People that height who can walk and chew gum at the same time without falling over would be given a chance to develop in the AFL. To suggest that he's nothing more than a tap ruckman at this stage of his career is ridiculous.

He's averaged between 16-17 disposals, 4 marks and 30+ hitouts a game over the last 4 seasons. What more is he supposed to do?

Ok ok, clearly I've accidently subscribed to the Aaron Sandilands fan website. I just always thought that if someone like Tippett had that size, he would completely dominate the game. I will speak no more evil about the subject!:D

yeah but in two years he may be a 'frosthome' and go back home too;)

you saying he might get cold feet? ;)

I like the sound of this kid... reckon he could be a player...

A LOT more to Sandilands than size. He's worked unbelievably well on his around the ground work and ability tp impact by possession.

If we pick him will he be given the cold shoulder?? Is he cool under pressure? Or does he go hot then cold?? Is his nickname The Snowman?? Just pick him for all the material we could use on gameday. :p

Just on Sandilands Mk2 he is 200 cm and still growing, whether he can amtch his older brother for his work around the ground and kicking and ball skills is another thing entirely. Would be worth a rook or late pick for a long term project.

JP Top 30 Day 10
Toby Greene 181 cm 7-14 range.
Pyro has done a write up on this lad as well, but unlike Frosty he will be long gone by 27. Worth a look and keep in mind for DT SC cash cow.
