Have you been smoking crack, seriously?

The funny thing is, even your fellow Hathorn supporters on your board are embarrassed by you.

Did Bartel go missing when he kicked that goal from 60m to put us back in front?

I have NEVER seen Bartel play a game as bad as Hodge did on Friday night. He has NEVER made so many crucial errors, in a clutch game none-the-less.

Bartel is much better than Hodge. The only way Hodge has it over Bartel is that Hodge is more attacking this year.

It warms my heart to see the reaction of people like you when we beat you.

There is no doubt that Hodgey didn't have a great last quarter against the cats on friday night, I thought that the rest of the game he was solid for us, playing down back.

On Bartel, i think you are seriously forgetting his previous few years barring last year. This is a guy that was in position for a long time that say him not being able to get a game with the club. His best has always been very very good, but he lacked a consistancy to truly be rated anywhere near the best on the comp. It has been his consistancy last year and this year that have made him the player he is now, but to say he has never played a terrible game is both inaccurate and stupid.

There is now doubting the talent he has, his toughness in contests and his good strong hands for a player his size, but really, prior to 2007, he was very inconsistant.

Hodge on the other hand has been, in a way, unfarily treated for much of his career not being able to settle into postions as he has been our Mr Fixit for much of the time he has been at the club.

In closing, to hard to split the two, i think Hodge offers more versatility, whilst Bartel is a gun.

What does? A poll made after Hodge had a couple of good games, and people were under the impression that Bartel was out of form?

Start a new poll now and we'll see how it goes eh? The vast majority of BF posters are mouthbreathing simpletons, which you help illustrate.

Nono, wasn't referring to the poll, it's just widely accepted that hodge is the better player.

Mate I don't really career how many goals a gun contested posession centreman averages. But those saying he doesn't hurt the opposition with his posessions are kidding themselves. Has a long penetrating kick, and when needed has snapped classy goals on both feet.

Aye, they certainly are wrong there.

They're just taking notice of the more un-fancy touches he gets around the outside of packs (or a kick behind play), and the quick one-two handballs he gets involved in. These aren't damaging touches and do beef up stats, though to only recognise these is plainly stupid and ignorant.

He's clearly a damaging player.

Not to mention the fact that he gets himself into the right positions to accumulate these easy touches is testament to the fact he's a gun.

ones a premiership player and a brownlow medallist.
End of discussion!

Using that Logic then Bartel is a better player than Gary Ablett Snr then??? Ablett Snr is neither a brownlow or premiership winner

Brownlow medals aren't the best measure of a player. Normally, the players that are frequently associated as being the best the game has seen are: Leigh Matthews, Ted Whitten, Wayne Carey, Gary Ablett Snr, John Coleman. neither won a brownlow, what does that say????

Your judgement appears to be consistAntly bad, like your spelling.

Don't go wreck the only comeback half of the Geelong bandwagon supporters have when you compare there players to players from other clubs. Hilarious when some of the Geelong flogs say that so and so is the better player because he has a premiership.

I expect Luke Hodge to be the better player once their careers end, but Bartel is better now and is playing better and Hodge just hasn't overtaken Bartel yet.

But I trust my judement, Hodge will end up better then Bartel, but I'd like him to start showing why as soon as next year, or he might end up too far behind the duel bownlow medalist.

There's a brownlow medal for duelling now?

Don't care about the spelling thing, but i challenge you on my judgement. Not doubting Bartel is a great player, but i wouldn't swap the two if i had a choice.

Bartel struggled with consistancy for a long time, so much so that Bomber Thompson dropped him several times. Bartel himself credits that to where he is now.

he won a brownlow medal by 7 votes playing 20 games for the season and your calling him inconsistent? LMAO.

hes on track to win another one this year, two in a row it could well be and your calling him inconsistent?

Read my other post in this thread mate. I actually stated that the last few years he has improved his consistancy, hence the upward curve in his output for the club. Look back at his early career and tell me he was ultra consistant like he has been this year and last.

I have no doubt he will again poll well in the brownlow this year, I have never doubted his quality as a player, I have made comments that early in his career he was inconsistant. He has been dropped more than once becuase of this.

and that is relevant because? most pointless and useless piece of information mate.

I'm sure it made sense when I originally posted my thoughts about 5 days ago on the subject. Fact is you were talking about my comments on his consistancy which I noted weren't reflective of his past 18 months.

Anyway, I would still take Hodge, maybe it's my hawthorn bias, but Hodge fills so many holes for us around the field, in defence, midfield and attack when needed.

Hodge's prowess, cunning and guile is better than Bartel. Hodge lends more to the fabric of Hawthorn. Hodge is smarter and cooler in a crisis. Don't get me wrong Bartel is good but he has good around him as well.

I would love to see them in the same side though.

good call cum bucket. wanna take that one back :D

Bartel by a very big margin, Hodge not even in the best 30 players in the league, and useless when its a close game
