As tempting as it was to select Martin just for the lolz, this poll does no one justice.

Not Swan, down on form and carrying an injury but still one of the AFL's best. Not Martin, gun youngster but still a fair way to go to be one of the best. Certainly not the OP.

Martin has played an extra game yet still trails in a number of totals. Let's not get carried away.

I love how all you trolls hate Collingwood so much. Our success obviously hurts.

A Collingwood player who is 3x B&F , mult AA, rated last year by peers and coaches as the no 1 player in the comp and winner of a swag of media awards is ranked below an up and coming player who plays well at times in an up and coming team

Thanks for making me smile

Those stats are inaccurate - Real stats (your inaccurate ones in brackets):

Dustin Martin
Marks: 36 (41)
Kicks: 149 (164)
Handballs: 74 (85)
Tackles: 29 (34)

Dane Swan
Marks: 41 (45)
Kicks: 162 (178)
Handballs: 82 (87)
Tackles: 29 (33)

In addition, you've posted totals which flatter Martin, because he's played an extra game. If you go with averages:

Dustin Martin
Marks: 4 per game
Kicks: 16.6 per game
Handballs: 8.2 per game
Tackles: 3.2 per game

Dane Swan
Marks: 5.1 per game
Kicks: 20.3 per game
Handballs: 10.3 per game
Tackles: 3.6 per game

Anybody with a shred of football knowledge would know Swan is obviously in front, although having said that there isn't any second or third year midfielder that I'd take ahead of Martin.

He is going to be elite

Pretty well summed up.

One day Martin may (and I think he will) be a better player than Swan. Until he gets the runs on the board though this poll is ridiculous.

Why do i keep coming here, surely the OP should've been red carded for trolling if not for stupidity.

A "who would you prefer" poll i could handle, but not an X V X.

I actually value the umpires contribution much more highly then the media perception, the umpires vote after the game.. based on INSTINCT rather than the media who vote with access to statistics, etc.

That said I have no ****ing idea why Swan isn't absolutely destroying this poll.

Simple. More Richmond supporters have visited and voted than every other team combined.

Martin by an absolute mile! Future leader, and has one of the best polished kicks i've seen among the crop of up and coming youngsters. Can play through the middle, and push to half forward and kick raking goals from most angles.

Swan's last 2-3 games have epitomised the sort of player he is. When the Pies are under pressure and on the back foot you'll find Swan goes missing as he is reliant on the more in and under players to get the ball to him. Without them he doesn't get a kick. The Geelong & Adelaide games are classic examples.

Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but unfortunately he lacks the ability to individually command the game and have the influence to turn a game by himself and lift his teammates unlike Ablett, Judd etc. Martin, on the other hand, is showing signs that he possesses this ability.

As much as he is a good linkman, I guarantee Martin will be twice the player Swan is. Some many disagree, but that's just my opinion and I know who i'd rather have in my side. :thumbsu:

I understand that part, I just don't understand how at this point in time they could vote for Martin!!!

You can't have a poll like this and give one player the benefit of having a 'future'

It has to be here and now, and Swan is a superior player

What are you supposed to do when one player is only just in his second year?

This poll is ridiculous anyway.
