* which I believe is also used when you're coming down from Ice. Helps you relax/sleep.
(But don't quote me on this)

makes you numb, ypu dont really feel anything, basically slows down your motor skills as i understand it

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

Wasn't Valium. Was an anti-anxiety* drug, for which he didn't have a prescription.
I have always thought that our midfield was lacking and slow (Licca, Woey, Jason Wild, etc....) and have been jealous of those running around for other teams. Always wondered how many more goals Taz and Pebbles would have kicked with better delivery. In saying this, I secretly wouldn't mind Cuz donning the Black and White for a few years. Also, remember we are human and are meant to forgive and, under Eddie and in a different city, he might turn his life around, particularly considering how professional Collingwood is nowdays. In short, I wouldn't mind.

On the other hand, we are pretty bloody good without him. He wouldn't be worth it (even if he cost us nothing in the PSD) and all the attention would distract the team unit. So, as much as it would be good to have a champion player strengthening our team, I would have to vote NO. Another team without morals (I'm sure Carlton is the first one that jumps into people's heads here) or that are desperate/take recycled duds (Essendon under Sheedy, St. Kilda) can have him.

They said it was a type of Valium on the gold coast 7 news.

I think a guy like cousins could go good away from perth....put him on a special contract (Didak) and he might just make the difference. Besides we lack pace and run in the midfield and he would be perfect!

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

Yeah why not. If we'd got rid of Dids, some club would've grabbed him and claimed he's learnt his lesson etc...we should be that club now!

Worst thread or comment I have ever read on bigfooty.

Absolutely agree, we should not even be looking to profit on the back of something like this....a guys life is potentially at stake and we are thinking of placing him in the very pressure cooker environment that derailed his life. You dont get arrested and charged for valium possesion , just for the record...
Cousins needs solace to get back on his feet...his life is at the crossroads, any club picking him up is being negligent to the life of this kid...The afl needs to step in and deregister him immediatley for not just the good of the game but for the good of cousins and his family......

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

Sorry for jumping on your board guys, but I felt I had to comment. Surely this guy can't be serious. Didak would have been snapped up but all he was guilty of was being stupid and pissed.

I can't see any club taking him, I wouldn't renew my mebership if Essendon drafted him.

Also, he may have only been in possesion of those drugs, but to refuse a blood test he must have been using something else.

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

We'd completely **** up our corporate relations and you can forget about lucrative future sponsorships should we touch Cousins. It will affect the club negatively on and off the field.
Pfizer might come on board though...

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

Imagine how much more hated we would be if he came to Collingwood, especially if he won us a premiership.

But no i still do not want him.

BEST COMMENT I HAVE EVER READ ON BIGFOOTY.!! You are Spot on sloth6..and the same should go for all clubs.

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

Stay away from him, guys. Not worth the grief - no matter how talented.

True, though the AFL may rule they are deregistering him and make sure that we don't need to bother thinking about it all.

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

I really do not know which way to go. Flip of the coin. I am very disappointed to see Benny's career end in the way that it has. Make no mistake about it, the problem isn't Ben Cousins, the problem is WCE's inability to deal with the problems that are rife and affecting their culture.

WCE failed Ben Cousins. They should have taken action and got him right 5 years ago when they knew. They swept it under the carpet and kept him on the list because they wanted premierships and he was an important ingredient. More important than Judd. He was their spiritual leader, their TRUE captain and arguably their greatest ever player.

A mentally fit Ben Cousins is welcome anywhere IMO- i would love to have him but not at the cost of destroying the clubs culture. I feel for Ben he is a wayward troubled star but nonetheless will be regarded as a champion, legend and icon. Future Hall Of Famer.

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

For now Ben cousins should be more concerned about cleaning himself up and getting his act together before even thinking about taking offers from another club, until he can get over this problem I cannot see him being much use to anyone.

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

Interesting read in the age that it seems all clubs will reject Ben Cousins even if he is available for the PSD and not de-registered by the AFL. Funnily enough Collingwood were contacted and didn't make any comment about whether or not they are interested in pursuing Cousins same as Melbourne.

Could this be leading onto something?

Brisbane, Carlton, Port, Freo and Geelong could not be reached whilst the rest of the clubs ruled themselves out.

I'd say the MM/McKenna link prevent them from publicly alienating Ben because no doubt both of them would have a soft spot for him... So I doubt they'd draft him but not sit well in their hearts to join the chorus of bashing him cos he's their mate.

Can't think of any other Melbourne club with as strong a WCE link as us, even though we hate each other mostly as clubs :p

Re: Cousins? Is he worth a go?

i would take him, hes still a quality player and needs help. moving to another club in another state is just what he needs. pity its probaly too late now :(
