Ok, I know everyone has been suggesting we pick up a hack delisted player from another club, and for the most part I have been amazed at some of the poor quality players mentioned (Kris Massie?!?!). But in this case, I think Fabian DeLuca might have something going for him. He is still young (I think) and could develop into a solid depth ruck option at a new workplace after getting his solid kick in the pants. Thoughts?

Idea:

How about we stop talking about other clubs trash? Especially clubs that finished below us - they get delisted for a reason

Does anyone else think that Port may well have shown their hand with their recent delistings ?
Their ruck department is now made up of Lade , Brogan , Giles and Lobbe with maybe one of the Westhoff boys who are both more KP than ruckman.
I have doubts on Lobbe being a genuine ruck as well. I know he spent most of the year in the SANFL seconds playing as a ruck/forward but i always thought he would be a KPP and not a ruck.
Looks to me like Vickary could be in their sights.

Yep!

IMO, ANT555 is suggesting that if Port go Tall, it means that possibly, 3 out of the first 4 picks are talls, therefore leaving more A Grade midfielders avaialable at selection 5.

1. Jack Watts
2. Nick Naitanui
3. Hamish Hartlett
4. Tyrone Vickery
5. Daniel Rich

:)

One can hope :p
that's not as crazy as it sounds

for mine Rich V Hartlett is a toss of the coin. Rich has the runs on the board, but Hartlett may have more scope for improvement

very interesting to see how it pans out

Yeah I think Vickery is all but locked in for Port. They have shown massive interest in him and were impressed with what Tyrone showed at the draft camp.

Rich clearly better than Hartlett for mine- I would be ecstatic if he fell to us though I feel it is more likely Natanui would fall to us.

Watch his kicking. He'll be top 5/10 kicks in the AFL the day he's drafted.
you (and a lot of others) would know a lot more than i would on the prospective players, but from that video i think his kicking actually doesn't look that great, with the exception of a couple of passages of play. i was most impressed with his reading of play, especially at clearances.

Rich is by far the best midfielder in this draft. His left foot is a weapon and he can kick it a mile.

If we had pick 1, then i'd take him ahead of Watts and Naitanui and unfortanetly there's no chance of him slipping to 5

I thought his clearance work looked great

He kick 50m bullets that will hit the target 95% of the time.

Yeah, I was at the Vic Metro game and I admit he did look quite impressive, but unfortunately for him he has not been able to play games like that on a consistent basis.

imo your just focusing on the kicks he gets in a pack - those are just designed to clear the ball

but like you said in certain passages he was great, and those are the ones when he has more than a second to kick. free him up like that a few times a game and it will alter the result

for me, i would like to see a little more urgency in his game

yeah that's what i meant, he looks like he's a gun at getting clearances, however i thought a lot of his kicks looked like he just threw them onto the boot and more often than not didn't hit the target. but as somebody else said, when he had time, he was a pretty sweet kick of the ball.

speaking of 50m bullets, that's what i love most about watching myers play! so wrapped we have him on our list. but that's for another thread..

Rich has been inconsistant throughout this past year, was really good for a young bloke in the WAFL last year, but looks like he has been focussing more on standing out above everyone then doing the team things more often than not. (Eg. Chucking a quick kick on the boot instead of handpassing to a player free beside him.) You'd think he would be conistant though with his solid frame but that hasn't been the case.

Throwing the negativity out the window, his clearance work and his skills on both sides of the body are superb. Not to mention he can roost the ball 55m on his preffered side. Would be EXTREMELY happy if we picked him up, though very unlikely. Has some outstanding attributes that would be very beneficial to our team in the long term providing he keeps on keeping on.
