Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

Why do you think why would pick trengrvoe and not Hurley Merv?

We have already spoken with him a couple of times and someone i know, who knows what he is talking about, believes he has far more upside than Hurley.

He's taller, more athletic, quicker, has a bigger leap, can pinch hit Ruck and comes with a bigger upside.

He's a Bombers supporter too which is a bonus.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

Could also mean Watts may not be nominating, so Melbourne will pick up one of Rich/Naitanui and look at drafting Watts next year (providing they win the wooden spoon, which they'd be odds on to do so, and/or still rate Watts highly enough).

Next year is a long way off . Watts probably wont be no1 next year there is already a lot of hype on scully and for mine he is seriously good I believe he will be the best midfielder ever (theres a big statement )he's another Judd nobody will take watts over scully . Then theres Butcher who is developing big time morabito and a few others it will be a good draft next year as well .

i can see where you're coming from, but there is still that element of risk picking a KPP who has just ripped his hamstring off the bone. He may have more upside than Hurley, but Hurley is going to be a very safe pick for whoever chooses him, Zeibell would have to come into consideration with this pick aswell.

Going to be very interesting come draft day.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

I wouldn't be so certain re Port going tall.
Me either.
You would of thought so a few weeks ago but now Lade has been preforming and they will give him another 1 year contract.
If big Nic is available which I highly doubt, they will take him.

I cant see Port going Hartlett as there is other talent they would take ahead:
Vickery, Hurley, Ziebell

Underlined Hurley as I think that will be the player the will draft

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

1. Melbourne - Watts
2. West Coast - Rich
3. Fremantle - Naitanui
4. Port Adelaide - Vickery
5. Essendon - Trengove
6. Carlton - Hurley
7. Brisbane - Hartlett
8. Richmond - Ziebell
You really see Trengrove going before Hurley, Hartlett and Ziebell..?

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

1: Melbourne- Naitanui
2: West Coast- Rich
3: Fremantle- Hartlett
4: Port Adelaide- Watts
5: Essendon- Ziebell
6: Carlton- Hurley
7: Brisbane Lions- Vickery
8: Richmond- Johnstone
Oh my; I highly doubt it..
If Wattsy is available for Freo/WCE they will take him in a blink of an eye.
Watts is clearly the best talent in this years draft

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

This could mean two things, the Eagles/Demons rate Naitanui as their number one or Melbourne will pick up Rich with their first pick and Naitanui is the Eagles second option. The more the days pass, the more I think Rich will go to the Demons even though I believe Watts is potentially the best player in the draft.

Warnock to Carlton you say (or stay at Freo)? Personally I don't want Warnock if it meant giving up what the Dockers are asking for.

that one

warnock to carlton is interesting. you guys have offered a satisfactory contract and more playing time. that seems to be the deciding factor, robbie doesn't really want to go home, he just doesn't want to be stuck playing second fiddle for the next 4-5 years

Wow! That's a massive wrap on Scully - was very impressive in the televised U18 game this year - reminded me of a quicker Chris Masten with his energy around stoppages, vision and lightning hands.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

Watts will only nominate if Melbourne guarantee him with their number 1 secection...

Like Murphy of a few years back he loves his family and friends way too much to risk going inter state...

he also doesnt mind a frothy or 10... which is a bit of a concern for some...

If Carlton get their hands on either Ziebell or Hurley i will be jumping for joy...

Ricky Nixon believes NicNat hype has got him a top 10 selection.... based on playing ability he would be a 4th rounder... dont crush me down... thats from his mouth not mine

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

1)melb= watt
2)wce= rich
3)fre= nat
4)port=?? hartlett/vick
5)Essendon=hurley

I think so as well considering Cousins, Judd and Kerr will all be gone they need midfleiders so the Eagles will definately go for Rich.

You can bet your bottom dollar he was shafted at some stage then.

Aint too many KPP that dominate their position in the WAFL at 17...

Easily in the mix as best young draftee in the WAFL with Rich and Yarran.

Moronic.

He's probably cut that he missed out on being Nick's player manager.

I'd agree with that assessment but the injury concerns me a little.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

my set in stone top 6=

melbourne- jack watts
west coast- daniel rich
fremantle- nick naitanui
port adelaide- hamish hartlett
essendon- jack ziebell
carlton- michael hurley!

thoughts?
For me you are thinking about Carlton too much. Hurley for is definite top 5 and shouldn’t drop any lower; and if so, he’s a steal. He’s a super defender (as you probably know), who can be an all rounder around the ground which is a huge advantage. I find that he’s the best defender in this draft, but don’t worry if he isn’t available when it comes to your pick, there’s loads more talent.
I have a feeling Harltett will be the best pick available when it comes to you, you may even choose Ziebell who I rate higher, although I see him in the Tigers colours. My expectations may be different, but that’s what I think.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

1 Melb: Vickery
2 WCE: Naitanui
3 Freo: Rich
4 Port: Watts
5 Ess: Hartlett
6 Carl: Ziebell

It's just pure blind optimism by Carlton supporters that Hurley is going to slip all the way through to Number 6.

He will almost certainly become a Bomber, if not will go to the Power.

Yep.

Either Port or Essingdon will take him.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

for me id like to take vickery, i wouldnt mind nic nat if he slips, but im a bit iffy on him.

i really dont think our main interest is a midfielder we have midfielders coming out our nose down at alberton and our ruck stocks are depleted not to mention our future kp prospects.

but knowing the way we draft we will draft harlett.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

Providing these picks aren't traded.

1. Jack Watts
2. Nick Naitanui
3. Daniel Rich
4. Jack Ziebell
5. Michael Hurley
6. Hamish Hartlett

I think Vickery will end up at Punt Road.

Re: 1st 8 Picks Set in Stone - Top 8 Pick Mock

It's amazing how thoughts/opinions seem to spread on BF.

A few months ago a few people said they weren't 100% certain on NicNat.

Now it's a common theme, although I am sure most have seen 2-3 games max.
