I like Vossy - GREAT football person and his heart is in the right place......BUT......there's no way he can stay on.

There'll be a whole bunch of new faces in the playing group over the next few years confronting the same old problems. It just can't happen without some fundamental changes occurring.

Call it a rebuild or a refresh or whatever name they want to give, but this 'era' is fundamentally over.

i'd have him as partially at fault for this but it's become untenable.

i'm all in on a partial rebuild (LM started last off season imo) and new coaches, reset the club.

No, because Wright has been in for a year making an assessment, and our board is stable.
Our board is also stale. But I see your point.

This is probably more suitable for the List Management thread....but Austin inherited a list bereft of a midfield (apart from Cripps and Walsh), no run, experienced players who couldn't get onto the park, and not a lot of young talent coming through. Voss himself came out and said the list was far from complete, and the 'rebuild' was already in motion.

The core was very sound to build on, but it's been a balance of building for current success around that core, and at the same time building a base of young talent with an eye to the future - particularly with compromised drafts on the front doorstep. The dilemma of Houston vs pick 3 was a classic case in point.

Losing the talent of Martin, Marchy, Cunners, Kennedy (and even Owies) in one hit set us back way more than people would appreciate. Potentially losing TDK, JSOS, Cripps (and possibly Curnow and Acres) this year isn't just a reset or 'partial rebuild' when you add it to the losses at the end of 2024.

Anyway, the point being is that the next 'era' of the club cannot be with the same thinking. It's gonna take a fresh approach without the anchor of the past.

I'd only be happy with a new Head of Football who's been had numerous roles in the industry (centred around coaching, ie. Simpson) and a slightly younger coach with an aggressive gameplan. One that takes the game on at all times.
The mentality of the club needs to be reset, and focus on aggression, structure, support and comradery.

Even if the head coach is a second time coach, these are the characteristics I feel that need to be fully embraced and I'll support whichever person is named with attacking gameplans for BOTH a kicking strategy AND a run and carry strategy.

Simon Goodwin anyone? 😜

All this waiting around twiddling our thumbs, yet Melbourne an internal schmozzle acts before us.

We are far from a ruthless win at all costs footy team.

If we are sacking Voss we better already have our coach lined up.

Listening to Whately this morning he said you are in trouble when the 4 pillars move on
President, CEO, Football Manager and Coach

We are 2of the 4 this year with at least one more expected

Amazing you expect loyalty from coaches players etc, just read the comments about Voss gives you a good idea of the loyal supporters and their position.

Even Melbourne think we should be sacking Voss. How else could you possibly explain what they have done? An attempt to get into the market before we have a chance. How stupid can the management at Carlton be?

You're spot on.

I think people need to realise that moving on from Voss is nothing against his character nor how hard he has worked to try and make us successful. He is a terrific man and leader. Unfortunately however we need major change. Club before individual mentality.

We've lost composure on the ground and off it. Every week seemingly we're hearing about a senior player being unhappy and dis-satisfied. This is a group playing outdated footy, we're not utilising our strengths and too many players have regressed in form & attitude. Notwithstanding, we're devoid of any confidence and killer instinct.

Our on-field leaders are struggling mentally and when you have - allegedly - 3 from the 4-man leadership group looking over the fence at other clubs that says to me we have major relationship / cultural issues...and ultimately the buck stops with the coach.

Check out all the panic… again.
Like we haven’t been making moves behind the scenes for weeks if not months now
Like carlton have given any signs of making the right moves behind the scenes this century.
Hardly surprising fans wouldn't be confident things are in motion already. I hope they are, but historically, we've been given no reason to expect they would be.
