Triple-premiership captain, Michael Voss has confirmed that 2006 will be his last as skipper of the Brisbane Lions.
But Voss, who was appointed initially as co-captain with Alastair Lynch in 1997 and who has led the Lions in his own right since 2000, has indicated that he would like to play on next season which would most likely be his last at AFL level.
Voss outlined his plans at a media conference ahead of the club's Tuesday training session at Coorparoo.
The media conference was called because on Saturday night against Adelaide at the Gabba, Voss will celebrate his 200th game as captain of the Lions (32 of these as co-captain with Lynch).
Voss declined to nominate who he thinks should succeed him, but star forward Jonathan Brown appears the most likely choice.
Voss' initiative signals a further changing of the guard at Brisbane, where veteran defender and three-time All Australian Justin Leppitsch announced his retirement on Monday.
