Michie broken his foot again???

Very disappointed in this indeed and honestly I don't know if he'll get back

One stress fracture is bad but 2 is horrible and in the same foot as well.

We know that Trent Croad played the Grand Final with a broken foot (stress fracture from memory) and was forced to retire

James Hird did a stress fracture in 1998 and 1999 and came back and played for another 7-8 years.

If Michie ever gets back onto the field, he'll need to be carefully managed

So yeah, so far since Harvey has gone, we've got Mora, Mundy, Barlow and Michie all with further set backs.

Still got nothing to do with the health/fitness guys down at the club?

Oh no you didn't... Expect Proud Bogan to quote your post soon and have a go at ya for saying that.

As a club we can't seem to get a break. We have had less injuries this pre-season which is a good thing but most of our injured players have had major setbacks. Hopefully everything can come good during the season and we can start next pre-season completely fresh.

Very alarming that a fresh stress fracture can come about in a foot that has been under very little pressure for a long time.

If anyone was wondering why Harves was shown the door email the club and asked for the Ernst and Young internal review of the club.

You'll find all the answers you need in that little number.

As if I'll be placing my faith in the bean counters. Ernst & Young are just a poor man's KPMG. Both have overseen the bankruptcy of large corporations while being in charge of the books.

I'm sure those that have been pushing the "a coach lives and dies by his actions regarding recovering players" line will be in here soon to condemn Lyon.

I'm sure we'll learn lots about Harvey's coaching from the audit of the clubs Financial Statements...

I don't think it will have anything to do with the financial statements.

EY employ people who do things way outside the financial spectrum.

Amongst other things, it was alarming how poor the injury duration estimates were last year compared to other clubs and compared to Fremantle's estimates in other years.

A lot of injuries..... poor estimates.... and an unusual amount of unsuccessful returns.

Surely it can't be controversial to suggest that something needed to be looked at.

I believe we ran our team into the ground last year. I don't think it was solely Harvey's fault, although he did make some glaring errors. I hope the whole fitness/medical staff is on notice, and will be monitored closely.

But we do have to accept that if we did run our team into the ground, then injuries will initially take longer to heal and setbacks can occur. In Dutch we have the term 'roofbouw', which translates something like plundering. I fear we have plundered our players' reserves last year, and it will take time to return to a 'normal' health situation. That recovery time, with its setbacks, might take a while longer than we all hope.

As for Michie, if the reports on what happened to him last season are true, then that is a massive case of amateurish mismanagement.

EY audit the financials and the salary cap on an annual basis as per the requirements of the club to do so. Nothing more. Nothing less.

The weird thing about this whole episode is, How the hell did he get a new stress fracture if he hasn't been running, or been doing minimal running in his rehab? Makes no sense.

Sweet, we can upgrade Pearce.

Yes that did occur to me.
I guess he had to start increasing the load sometime and he may have some serious weakness there.

Incorrect, mid last year Fremantle commisioned EY to conduct a complete club review, auditing every facet of the club.

Identified areas of concern, highlighted positive processess and presented to the board their recommendations.

The club asked EY how they could be a better business/club, EY presented their findings, we all know what happened next.

IIRC from the time Egan (the former Cat) re-injured his foot, the risks of re-injury, or sustaining a new injury, are very high.

Anecdote: I've done a lot of similar reviews and during one of them I came to the conclusion that the guy who brought me in was the issue. I had to go over his head and raise the issue of the guy's employment.

He was canned.

Six months later I get on an international 767. Row 1.... sitting next to the guy.

For hours on end I felt about as safe as an eyeball around Chris Judd!

Just doing you job.

I feel as though the club made the correct choice.

I thought Steve Rosich headed that particular review or was that a seperate review entirely?

I'm now thoroughly confused

E&Y conducted a full review of the club, including football operations.

Rosich and the board focused on football operations.

Two separate individual reviews, which were compared toward the end of the season.

The two reviews had similar findings, the club took action.
