Executive Summary.....

This year we have won just as many games as we did last year with still 11 games remaining. After a few wins I believe we get a bit ahead of ourselves as a club. This yr we haven't had to endure the 100 point drubbings from oppostion. The players who are winning the games for the tigers are the cubs of the club with the exclusion of an aged old cub (Richo!) This a complete contrast to last yr when I think Tivendale, Hyde and Bowden would of gotten us over the line for a few wins. I would expect the tigers to be pushing a 6-8 position next yr. That shows a team on the improve. Below is my assesment on the individual performance of the players on what we would of been expecting from the start of the yr.

Bowden, Joel. Has not performed the level we expect from our senior players. Once our finals chances are gone for this season I expect him to be playing reserves. He will struggle to be playing seniors in 2009. I expect a smooth transition with Connors for his role. Below average 30/100

Brown, Nathan G. Just having him on the field fit is a great sign for the team. His possession count is good this season, he makes every possession count, for mind I would like to see him have half the amount of posses playing on the HFF and kicking 3 goals a game, prefer seeing him finishing the play instead of having to create it. Terry will be looking for this from him in 2009 when our young core group develops more and takes the responsibility of his shoulders. Average 70/100
Casserly, Travis From all reports this kid is meant to be a player, we have recently resigned him for another couple of years, and the coaching staff must believe he has the talent. I saw him in the pre season looked like he could hold his own, Just needs to get games into his legs. Once finals are out of contention for the senior, would like to see 2 or 3 games from him this year. Below Average 20/100

Collins, Andrew This kid can play however a couple of yrs on the West Cost Eagles weight training regime will help his development no end. He has all the skills but lacks size. Would be great to see a debut from him this yr. Average 40/100

Connors, Daniel This kid should have already cemented his spot in the season however injuries and a lack of fitness has forced him to play consistent footy for Coburg before getting his chance. Can see him taking over Bowden’s role late this yr or maybe into the early part of season 2009. Below Average 40/100
Cotchin, Trent WoW………… I was worried when I saw Palmer, Rioli in the early part of this season. But the wait has been worth it. I believe he will have a greatest impact on the side since Richo!! They say big men are priceless I’m glad Carlton cheated to get Kreuzer and Judd.. There will only be one Cotchin!!! Minimal amount of games but he has shown me enough already. Above Average 95/100

Coughlan, Mark I just hope Cogs sticks it out and we get to see him in the seniors whenever he his is fit!

Deledio, Brett He has stepped up this yr to show that he deserved to be the number one draft pick. I love seeing the ball in his hands however I wish he just kicked the bloody thing! Great signs to show a champion of the club in the making Above Average 80/100

Edwards, Shane The little must be doing something right to be playing senior footy. He has defiantly got the footy brains to be a star; he is starting to show some constancy. Will probably be in and out of the side for the remaining of the year. Both Edwards and Connors are a class above Coburg however they need to make a smooth transition into the big time. Average 65/100

Foley, Nathan This guy is our first elite player in the competition for the Tigers, for a long time. His hard work and determination to improve I hope has rubbed off on the young kids. He needs to work on the ability of beating a tag week in and week out. Above Average 85/100
Gourdis, David- Sorry don’t know much about this kid to make a comment

Graham, Angus This big fella has played limited AFL footy and this is probably his last yr to show us that he has the making of an AFL footballer. He is coming of an injury, would expect some late games in the seniors this yr.
Below Average – 30/100

Hughes, Cleve The start of each season he looks like he is going to be making something of the up coming season. However consistency is his major problem. From other reports he appears to be a one dimensional lead up forward. He could take a leaf from the JR book of work ethic. Once Richo’s career comes to a close would love to see. JR Hughes and Cleve all playing in the same forward line. One good thing is over the last 2 seasons they have all played together at Coburg, so they should know one another’s games. Below Average 35/100

Hyde, Chris I’m not going to waste my time on this guy, he has had his yrs to prove himself. He should be in the Coburg Ressies and never to pull on the Yellow and Black ever again. I don’t know why we persist with him. Delist; Trade, whatever it takes for him not to be around come 2009. Below Average 20/100

Jackson, Daniel He hasn’t got too many skills however his ability to run all day and tag is something that would be worth persisting with. His style of play is very similar to Kane Johnson. He has had a handful of games this yr. If we need a tagger in the side I would prefer Jackson/Polo instead of Hyde. Below Average 20/100

Johnson, Kane The stats say’s he is in career best form but I’m not sure that stands out in the ground whilst watching him. Even though we have been badly beaten in the last two weeks without his services, he doesn’t look his inclusion in the side makes us any stronger? I expect more from a captain. Average 60/100
King, Jake You really have to admire his passion and determination, he gives his all for the club. The only thing that lets him down is his decision making at times. Would love to see him hold done the BP role stopping the little shits of the competition (Milne) However I would hate to play on him!!. May have found himself a new role on the wkend as a tagging HFF. Funny to hear his position in local footy was CHF. Above Average 70/100

McGuane, Luke This bloke never like he is going at full pace. I think he is at the same stage of A.Kellaway late in his career. He has a long way to go in his improvement. However when the ball goes down there these days, I’m slightly more confident. Its good too see him his playing regular senior footy. Above Average 70/100
McMahon, Jordan We traded his services for the hope of consistence foot skills from the backline. His game appears to be good when we’re winning and awful when we’re loosing. I think we’re better for having him in the side. Had a great game against the Saints, Average 60/100
Meyer, Danny When is this guy going to get some luck. However some determination on his part might go a long way to show where he is at the moment. We were picked up as the Tigers Fab Five (Delido, Tambling, Pattison and Meyer). The most disappointing out of the lot. If this is his last yr of a contract expect to see him out the door. Below Average 15/100

Moore, Kelvin He has come on leaps and bounds this yr, he is always tries. As amazing closing speed and the ability to spoil. Expect him to finish top 10 in the Best and Fairest. Above Average 75/100

Morton, Mitch Has exceptional skills and is competing directly HFF with Petticoat! I would expect him to win this battle due to youth and work rate of the ball. I just hope he doesn’t finish as a one trick wonder (Krakeour) Average 65/100

Newman, Chris This may sound harsh but I’m disappointed in his performance this yr, He has come back from surgery extremely well but has hasn’t pushed on from there. He struggles to man up however his foot skills really do shine out playing for the Tigers. Average 45/100

Oakley-Nicholls, Jarrad This time last yr we were all waiting for him to show us what he has got. 12 months later and we’re still waiting. It appears he is playing consistent footy at Coburg. Would like to see him play 2 or 3 games by seasons end. If he hasn’t shown us he can play by the end of next season, show him the door. Below Average 25/100
Pattison, Adam This kid has heart, desire and determination he bleeds yellow and black. However he lacks something to make him into a top line ruckmen. Last yr he stood up strong when Simmo went down. From the look of Troy in the last two weeks, could expect ruck duties to be with him for the second part of the yr. least we didn’t spend the number 1 draft pick on him (Fraser!) He is young and they say ruckmen take longer to develop. Average 65/100

Pettifer, Kayne Similar to Tivendale, Hyde, he should remain at Coburg until he realises that when you go down hill skilling you need to get up the hill again without taking a lift pass!! Below Average 15/100

Polak, Graham He showed so much promise last yr and has failed to deliver this yr. He has struggled to hold down a position. Below Average 40/100
Polo, Dean I really rate this kid, I was at the Dream time game when he starred on centre stage. Injuries have played a real part in his inability to get to back into the seniors. Hope the second half he can recapture his spot back into the seniors. Below Average 30/100
Putt, Dean - Sorry don’t know much about this kid to make a comment

Raines, Andrew - Injuries have hampered his 2008 seasons. He was looking to move into the midfield before being struck down. Hope when he gets back he can be part of the rotating midfield. Average 40/100

Rance, Alex - Sorry don’t know much about this kid to make a comment

Richardson, Matthew This guy is a champion; he has played his best season for a long time. It begs the question has he been played out of his correct position since he debuted. The sad factor his is career will come to an abrupt end should he keep running like he does. The last couple of weeks have shown the man in isn’t superhuman.
Above, Above Average 110/100!!!! Good on you big fella!!!

Riewoldt, Jack He has really stepped up in his second yr and has shown why he should be a regular fixture in our forward 50!!. With another pre season and some extra muscle, I expect a break out 2009! Above Average 80/100

Schulz, Jay He has gone under the radar of a lot of Richmond supporters looking for a player whip, whilst tivendale isn’t playing! I believe with games under his belt without injury has shown the man can play down back. Plus it keeps him in the game for four qtrs. With plenty of big guys in the team I would like to see him up forward kicking bags of goals. Above Average 70/100

Simmonds, Troy This guy was sadly missed throughout 2007 with a career threatening injury. He slotted back not only into the side but as shown playing for the Vics as the premier big man of the comp. However his performance has dramatically dropped of which shows signs of injury. Above Average 75/100
Tambling, Richard Much maligned player for the tigers, there is so much pressure on this kid to perform. He has clearly shown his strength, motor and determination has improved last yr. I expect this to continue next yr where he will truly shine in the AFL. Expect a similar 2009 from Richie as we have seen from Cooney this yr!
Above Average 70/100

Thursfield, Will He is in the mould of Silvangni – great skills and I have complete faith that our last line of defence will shine in the coming yrs as long as we have in the last line of defence, great skills with efficiency up around 85% Above Average 85/100

Tivendale, Greg – See Petticoat/ Hyde!!!!

Tuck, Shane - He really hasn’t taken the next step in his game. He is always able to find the ball however for some reason his head can only communicate with his hand! He forgets to kick the bloody thing. He reminds me of Jobe Watson. Average 45/100

White, MatthewFor mine he is doing a Foley of 2007. I know this is a big call but I believe he is the most improved player on our list. He has got great pace, size he just needs to turn the after burners off before kicking the ball. Great season! Above Average 80/100

Great assesment!

A bit harsh for mine, on Johnson and Bowden especially, and a bit too leniant on McGuane, White, Riewoldt and Edwards, but other than that, I agree almost all of them.

Great work!

(BTW people, please dont quote the whole thing, its just annoying...we can read it ourselves!)

I remember i did a thread like this before the season...it would be interesting to see how the two match up

You guys are a bit harsh on Oakleigh-Nichols. I admit I haven't seen him much but from all reports he is at least showing some form for Coburg. He hasn't had a chance this year to show us what he can do. He is still only young and I don't think that all hope is lost.

I can't help get the feeling that if we delist JON at the end of this year or the next , he goes to a club like , f.e. Sydney , that knows how to get the best of their players and knows how to develop and encourage young talent , and he becomes a star...it'll be Rodan(____, how long did we give him to fulfill his early promise btw?) all over again and then some, you watch...another source of much hilarity amongst opposition fans at our expense...never mind Sausage Troll's ridiculous fixation (with , I might add , a 20 y.o. reserves player who's only made 6 senior appearances and been injured half the time...yeah , he's the root cause of all our problems..) we should at least bookmark all those Hawthorn & Carlton pricks disparaging posts about him now , while he's still on our list and not just after he's torn us new one in 2010 at the SCG or wherever...:o

LMAO!

JON 25/100? What medication are you on?

On what do you base the 25 on? Try zero or negative!
He's had some good form at Coburg, is only 20yo and could still develop into a player, I wouldn't write him off just yet.

JON was very good on sunday against Werribee even did quite a few courageous things starting to show some real promise all is not lost give him a bit more of a chance

You guys have one of the best promising full backs I have seen in a while - Alex Rance. I couldn't decide between wanting him or Rioli last year (although i was leaning towards Rance) Riloi is a star but gee Rance would have been nice at FB.

You've made your mistakes in previous drafts but I reckon 2007 will be long remembered once Cortchin and Rance stamp themselves as future stars
