..Looking forward to some good clashes in the future though: Gibbs, Murphy, Stevens vs Judd, Kerr, Cousins.:thumbsu:

The Blues midfield has impressive talent and depth, but badly lacks experience - last Saturday that cost us big time V Cats. The Cats did their homework, used clever tags, and applied fantastic defensive pressure. Any clearances we got, were pretty much ineffective and not to our KP forwards advantage. Perhaps we got a little ahead of ourselves after playing 40 minutes of good footy V Tiges. We'll learn from that, and be better for the experience. I am however looking forward to the Blues match V Weagles. Judd is the major concern - not too fussed about Kerr or the others, as we usually do well against them. I'm sure Murph and Gibbs will thrive on the opportunity to play against the Weagles. Denis seems very reluctant to use Gibbs in the midfield at this early stage though. I'm hoping JW rests Judd. If he does, we could pinch that game. :)

SQUAWK

Let's see a little more than just 2 games before we start jumping to conclusions.

If we're stone bottom halfway through the year, then I'll concede to your midfield.

And I think Essendon are more worried by us than we are of them, we always seem to beat them when they're expecting an easy win. We are their bogey side.
Your coming off a spoon and the biggest flogging of the year so far (from a team that missed last years finals). As Essendon have two wins they can certainly afford to drop this one more so than Carlton and have been far more impressive in their two games so far.

This thread is pure and utter nonsense.

I'm picking who I think will be the big 3 mids of each team in the future

CAREER STATS:

Pendlebury Thomas H Shaw AVERAGE AGE: 20 - GAMES: 19.7 - DISPOSALS: 16.1

Walker Murphy Gibbs: AVERAGE AGE: 19 - GAMES: 24.7 - DISPOSALS: 15.3

Very even at the moment

Heath Shaw is a great player, but 1, he isnt a midfielder and 2, his stats are always high as he gets 15 plus stats a game when he receives loose, sideways kick in the backline. It always pumps up his numbers.

I would take carltons midfield easily. The best 3 genuine mids are Stevens, Simpson and Murphy. I dont think even a Pies supporter would deny this. After these two you could throw up names like O'Bree, Lica, Pendles, Scotland, Carrazo etc etc.

Gibbs will be better than Thomas as a mid. Thomas will be better as a loose softy.

1. Stevo
2. Murphy
3. Gibbs
4. Walker
5. Simpson
6. Pendles
7. Carrazo
8. Thomas

That would be my likely top 8 in a season or two.

Carlton,
Stevens, Murphy, Walker, Gibbs, Carazzo, Simpson, Kouta.
V
Holland, Obree, Licuria, Pendlebury, Buckley.

While Carlton have a dominate U/22 midfield Collingwood will soon pay the price for an aging side with very little budding talent.

Well, we only have to wait another week to find out, don't we?

Stenglein should tag Murphy out of existance again.:D

......No.:(

And Murph got 26 possies, 1 goal 2, and laid 3 tackles against us last year...Christ, scary stuff.:thumbsu:

And if i remember correctly stenglein had him the whole game. With the extra muscle and experience it is very scary stuff:thumbsu:

but judd is still scarier:eek:

Finally some kudos.
Thankyou, also thankyou for Priddis scored well in my dream team.
Will he get a game if Cousins comes back?

Imagine your spine in 2-3 years.

O'hAilpin
Waite
Murphy
Kennedy
Fevola

It's gonna be hard to beat if they live up to potential.

yeh it looks very good. But still potential is one thing, making it count is another. O'hailpin and Kennedy are looking really good and i hope that they can continue to develop and improve. Bright future ahead:thumbsu:

Yes I know, 10 tackles in one match!

He'll stay if his form keeps up, but Fletcher might push him out.

As for Cousins, who knows if he'll play again this year?

We're only 2 games into the season, you can't judge an entire side this season based on two games, nor a midfield for that matter. That we're coming off a spoon is irrelevant. It certainly didn't matter last year when we faced Essendon.

You must understand that wherever both teams are on the ladder, it will be a contest.

You've copped a huge flogging, the biggest of the year already. Just like you copped floggins in 2006.

It indicates to me you are a long way off being competitive.

Why you are pumping up your boys after such a performance is bemusing.

Two rounds, buddy. There are 20 games left... whilst I was pissed off with our performance I believe we're capable of better, time well tell. But it's easy to write off teams as spooners after two rounds.

Regardless, we're still 1-1 - can't ignore everything else. We will see where we truly are vs Essendon, if we can't bounce back against them, then we never will.

You are either illiterate or stupid. I'm not pumping my team for that loss, I'm saying our midfield has more upside than yours. I'm not just gonna sit back though, I'll defend my club - even if they play poorly. That's part and parcel of supporting your team... but I am a realist. We've still got a long way to go - no finals predictions here.

PS. It's only Round 2. Stop trying to make it look like the season is already over for us after 1 bad loss.

Your deluding yourself about your midfield, we've got a couple of good kids as do you guys. Lots of water to go under the bridge before we get any indication of how good some of these Carlton and Collingwood kids turn out.

Performance today interests me more than speculating about future performance and prospects years and decades down the track.

If you consider Carlton any chance of playing finals in 2007 you are seriously deluding yourself.

Did I even remotely hint that? Quote me or STFU.

Yet again, you're putting words into my mouth.

Your also deluding yourself about your midfield, we've got a couple of good kids as do you guys. Lots of water to go under the bridge before we get any indication of how good some of these Carlton and Collingwood kids turn out.

Ok, I'm delusional because I feel that our midfield has more potential than yours.

Yes, I'm insane. I need to pump myself full of drugs to stop these delusions, damnit.

To cop such a significant flogging with your full team out on the paddock is indicative of a club that is likely to struggle over the course of the season.

No it isn't. Because it is only Round 2 - come back to me if it's still like this halfway through the season. Many teams get shellackings early on and still remain competitive. You are basing our entire season over one game, it stinks of weak thinking and poor logic.

You've always been an idiot when it involves Carlton agruments anyway, I don't really know why I bother with you. You put words into my mouth, and then base your entire argument over one game.

You're going to look silly when it doesn't happen for you. But if we're down the bottom again, hey, at least I didn't make any silly predictions. I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong - the question is though, are you?

Probably not.

Hah, nice phantom edit. Maybe you should think a little bit harder before you start posting next time, eh?

Trying to hide your tracks? Perhaps you should admit that some of your comments there were not really necessary.

I misunderstood or misread what you were saying so went back and edited it.

What I have said that you so object to?

You got to love Carlton supporters. Spanked by an average side and yet still can dream.
