Kersten. McInnes. Jordan Lockyer.
Combination thereof

Appreciate your input. :thumbsu:

I'm pretty keen on the first two, though I still think Mitch is worth more to the lions than them combined, if only because of his versatility in the modern game. I'm sure we can agree to disagree. ;)

You watch how happy all the Freo fans will be if he goes there :D

Honestly you look at our board and you'll see most of us don't really care if he comes to Freo or not. It's the Brisbane fans who, rightfully so, want the best deal but I don't think Freo should sell the farm for a bloke who is really, on recent performance, on par with Keplar Bradley.

You don't actually speak for the club and you have no idea how much Freo want Clark.

So I guess you have a direct line to both clubs??? it is a moot point trying to play me out like an idiot when we are on a discussion forum. If you have nothing to add then piss off. Because we are here to discuss the M.Clark trade not argue who has "insider" knowledge.

Brisbane aren't going to pay him $600k a year mate, which is why he is considering going to melbourne instead of Freo.

He wouldn't be considering going to Melbourne for the money he is on now.

Yeah fair call. How much were Brisbane offering him to re-sign?

^^^^^^^

I'd like to ask this question again, cos Brisbane fans have been eerily silent with any responses. It's a genuine question, not a troll question.

I'd imagine it has to be because we don't want to offer him what he's being offered at first Freo, and now at Melbourne. We apparently re-signed Rich and Leuenberger for ~$450,000 a season each, hard to see how Clark could demand more than those two on current form IMO.

Give bris pick 20 and if they dont want it then go to the draft.

Even Keplar can kick as many goals, if Anthony is given a full season under Lyon I think he will kick more than Clark and we dont need another ruckman!!!

Seriously not trying to be a smart-arse, but if he's no longer coming home, which is his given reason for leaving the Lions, why don't you just convince him to stay and be done with all this shit? Genuine question.

Colin Young gave a pretty good summation of Clark's motivations on TradeWeekRadio yesterday - worth a listen if you're genuinely interested (link in the Clark thread on the Brissy board).

Young gave a combination of factors, some of which were WA-specific, others were more general ("a fresh start") . IIRC money wasn't one of the factors mentioned, but one would imagine that goes unsaid. Kerr's been pretty ruthless with aligning contracts to output, rather than potential. Young has reportedly been pushing for a significant pay increase for Mitch - I can't fault Kerr for not acquiescing to that.

So you reckon probably $350-400K? Let's say $400K, given he's worth more than 2 first rounders to your club (based on the media reports that your blokes knocked back our picks 16 and 20), but worth less than $450K based on current form (sorry I have to ask, but hypothetically, if he's worth less than Rich and Leuenberger, but more than two first round picks, what would Rich and Leuey be worth in a trade - more than Judd and Ablett it seems...)

So for an extra $100K/year he'll go to Melb, given the reports are $2mil over 4 years, front-loaded at $800K for the first season...

Yeah I'd probably do it for $100K / year as well. Good luck to him.

Now about the Rich and Leuenberger "hypothetical" trades... 2 x first rounders + a player?? Wow... just wow.

So pick pick 20 then. Done :)

Crazy Vossy again...

This is why deals don't get done, clubs always want too much.

Pick 16 + 20 is more than fair for a player who is not in the top 50 players in the competition.
Rob Kerr is doing the deals, nothing to do with Voss.

Reckon Freo still in the box seat due to go-home factor but would love him to come to the Demons. Would fill a hole for us moreso than at the Dockers which is why I reckon we're willing to pay a bit more in the way of draft picks. Salary not an issue as we have cap space to burn.

My perception of this deal has just swung around. Before I thought Fremantle were being ridiculously tight, but why the hell would Brisbane reject 16 and 20 (although it is quite possible that Barret doesn't know shit)? What can they get from Melbourne? Pick 12 and Matthew Warnock? Brisbane, Fremantle have given you a good fair offer finally and you probably won't be getting much better than 16 and 20 from anyone, take it.

You raise a good point but you have to keep in mind the mess our list was left in with the fevola deal. I'm not a fan of the gubby allan bashing that goes on in the brisbane board but this was a serious stuff up. Back ended contracts had players being paid more than their worth etc. It's more a reflection of what was available for our young talent than what they deserved. I can't remember who, but one club official said it could take 5 years to fully sort out the lists contract situations.

I'm sure Rob Kerr will consider your advice when he next logs on to the BigFooty Trading board for guidance.

We don't even know that 16 & 20 have been offered. It's from a Damian Barrett tweet FFS.... Damien bloody Barrett.

PA could learn something from this and offer a fair deal for Ebert:D

OK, fair enough. I hope you guys do well out of it, but if what Barrett is saying is true would you rather 16 and 20 rather than 12, Bate and Warnock? There is still the threat of the PSD too, so Kerr is playing a dangerous game, I hope it comes off for you, but it's just how I see it.

Yeah I'd be happy. An East Freo boy wanting to come home is always a nice get, but only if a fair price is paid. If we pay too much, I won't be so happy...

Its as simple as this:
Clark will be a matchwinner if not already one,He would be Freos 3rd most dominant player behind pavlich, sandi and on par with mundy,He is a BIG GET for both clubs either way you look at it.

If he comes to Us its because we have paid OVERS for him no doubt about it,But i would rather clark for the next4 years instead of 2 top 18 year olds who would play much in the next 2.For Melbourne to rapidly improve and climb the ladder he is exactly what we need, hence the reason why we are paying overs.

As for Freo, yous would be a genuine top 4 side if you had him in your forward 50m, and i think the mistake youve made is by not stitching him up monday or tuesday,

Anyway we will find out soon where he goes and i still think he will get to Freo for obvious reasons, but PLEASE freo fans stop the crap about you dont want him,let himgo to melbourne......It would be a different story when hes slotting them from 50 at subi infront of a packed house.

He will go to Freo so stop the negative press docker fans!

Really? Pick 16 is normally an end of first rounder and 20 an early second so it's not really 2 first round picks at all that apparently was offered.

I'm loving how from the point of view of Brisbane and Melbourne fans this is supposedly a 'bidding war'!

If we get him we get him but has the penny dropped yet that us here at Freo aren't terribly fussed either way? He wants us waaaaay more than we want him. Still if he comes, welcome aboard son :thumbsu:
