Any of the Port Power "young guns". Sorry that you have to hear another crows fan talking about port or vice versa but I'm just so sick of Choko trying to save his neck, assisted by that absolute shocker Rucci by talking up these players (who then get delisted:thumbsu: ) and their "bright future".
PS I know Pearce is a gun

BULL*****....

Voss, Aker, Black, Lappin, Michael, Lynch, Leppa, Johnson, The Scotts now these are the players that won those premierships. Brown was just a "good" CHF in a awesome TEAM. He was only 19 20 & 21 when they won them and you are trying to say they wouldnt have won them with out him...

That just goes to show how much people UNDERRATE Alistair Lynch because he was more important than J Brown.

Even a **** forward can look good when they have an awesome team, Prime example The West Coast Eagles and Quinton Lynch...
Firstly,Quinton Lynch doesnt look good, even in a awesome team, that fact that team is soo good with him at full forward tell you thats is a good side.
I dont underrate Alistar Lynch for one second, he was a gun player, who had the pleasure of sitting in a goal square looking at those players u mentioned banging the ball in. One or two players you failed to mention, who had probably as big an impact as all those on ballers and backmen you mentioned, was Clark Keating and too a lesser affect Beau McDonald, they got that ball going to the midfielders.
I agree with you, that every preimership side has a number of terrific players, but there is always one player you take out of the mix, then the whole chemistry is gone, and the CHF is that person, you take Carey out of North, they would not had a chance, not matter how good Longmire was, or the Fridge.
Brown's output in those Grand Finals weren't fantastic, but the 1st, he was as you said a 19yo, playing on the biggest stage in a not so easy position CHF, 2nd grand final, got smashed at the 1st contest by Scott Burns (which these days would have got 4 weeks, double points for grand final) and played the game on jelly legs, and the 3rd final played injured.
I agree hes not the champion most the media say he is, but if fit, and i say if, hes still warrants to be said in the same breath as Judd and co, and this aint my opinion only, and im sure Denis and **** would move heaven and earth to get him to Carlton if it was possible, and if any Carlton supporter is gonna disagree with that, well you truly have a great football mind.

Well just checked out another thread in Australian Football League forums, called Top 10 players, anyway, every post in that thread has one Jonathon Brown, why dont you guys who think hes overrated pop into that thread and tell all the members that have posted in that thread that he shouldnt be there, cos hes overrated.

Matthew Pavlich

He often passes off instead of taking the hard, 'champion' option - the goal from 45m on the boundary with the game in the balance.

This does not make him overrated-just because he chooses the safer option makes him smarter, not less tough.

That's because that list is based on how they will go this year. Many are expecting Brown to have a great year (and the assumption of "if fit" are made) and that's fair enough. OR maybe that thread does indeed prove our point?

But he isn't as good as people make him out to be. Someone from another thread said he's the best player in the competition. That's just bizzare. It discredits all the other players who've done more than him.

Some people seem to think overrated = not good, but that's not true. He's a great player, but his reputation beats his output. That's just plain fact, no opinion of a top 10 list will change that.

Exactly what I've been trying to explain re my assessment of Pav.....

Pav gets sold short far too often.

Not in the class of Brown and Hall?

He's a four-time All-Australian (Hall = 3; Brown = 0) who can play anywhere on the ground - and he's younger than both of them.

In my view Pavlich is overrated. Don't forget one of the those AA selections was at fullback in 2002 - which was certainly just to get him in the side. The fact that the only occasion that year he played there Richo tore him apart didn't seem to worry the selectors.

I watched very closely last year when we played Fremantle. Pavlich was matched by a good defender - Scarlett - and got slaughtered one on one all day. Good player, but not great. I'd take Brown or Fevola any day.

Kerr.
Just about the best matchwinner in the competition on his day, but he's one of the most inconsistant players in the competition. He'll have 5 or 6 flashy games each year and 15 that are about as good as your average midfielder, yet he's often rated top 3 in the competition! I've seen people rate him ahead of Cousins and even Judd! Add to that the fact that he's playing in the best midfield in the competition and gets less tagging attention than Cousins and Judd.
I can think of at least ten midfielders whom I rate above Kerr at this stage.
If he can play with consistancy then he'll be deserving of his constant praise, but at this stage I think he's very overrated.
