Who do people beleive is the most valuable player at the trade table?? who could you demand the most for? Considering age talent everything clubs consider when doing trades. Fire away people? In the competition? And at your own club?

Taking loyalty, contracts, father/son etc right out of the picture I would think that Ablett, Franklin, Pavlich & J Brown would be the most sort after by any club.

All dependent on how the season finishes up.

E.g. If we come last (please no) and Franklin was uncontracted and wanted to come back to WA, how much value would he really be to Hawthorn? Under the same scenario with us finishing 10th, Franklin would have a lot more value at the trade table, as we would have to deal to get him.

All other things being equal, gun key forwards (Brown, Franklin, Riewoldt etc.) and top midfielders under 25 (Kerr, Ablett, Judd etc.) would have the highest price tags.

It' fair enough to mention these players for the sake of the thread. But really it's pie in the sky.

98 percent of the most tradeable players will never be traded until they are older, or their form drops remarkably due to injury or the like.

E.G Judd. I can't see Judd ever being the player he was for West Coast.

Has Josh Carr had the impact with Freo, as he did with Port ?

Did you just start this thread to get your daily fix of 'Buddy love'?

I would argue Dean Cox.

Key forwards and gun mids obviously would attract a lot of attention however there are quite a number of these. Cox is so far ahead of all other ruckmen in the competition he is an automatic choice for his position, the next best is a long way behind him. This means the demand for such a limited resource should be higher.

My top 10 in no particular order:
J Brown, Cox, Ablett, Kerr, Judd, Bartel, Pavlich, Goodes, Cornes, Riewolt

Pavlich because he can play Midfield, Forward and Defence has the ability to win a game off his own boot

As good as Cox is, and he's in the top 5 players in the comp, I'm not convinced that clubs would trade as much for a ruckman as they would for a Pavlich or Brown, or even one of the top midfielders.

From a slightly more serious standpoint (in order):

Franklin - due to the fact he's got 10+ years to play
.
Brown - Best KPP currently playing
.
Cox - head and shoulders above all other big men
.
Pavlich - awesome KPP who can play all over the ground

Lance Franklin by a mile. Not the best player, but because of his age... it puts him above Brown, Judd etc. in terms of value.

At our club... probably Travis Cloke, or Dale Thomas.

I am very tempted to say Goodes. IMO he has won a AA in the ruck, a AA as a midfielder and can hold down a CHF or a CHB. Now people may not like him as he "may" get favourable treatments by the tribunal but he'd be the one player I'd be prepared to off ANYTHING for. Franklin would be 2nd.

Spot on. Age is a very big factor.

Franklin is priceless imo, don't think Hawks would give him up for anything no matter the deal.

Brown best kkp in the AFL atm, doubt he will leave the Lions at the end of the year

Cox most versatile and best ruckman in the league by miles.

Pavlich is most likely the most loyal player in the AFL to resign his contract to Freo giving that he is most likely never gonna win a premiership.

In that order

As good as Cox is I really don't think he would be in the top 5 in terms of commanding the most for a trade. He his the best ruckman in the land by a long way, but the difference in his best compared to other ruckmans best is not as large as the difference between the likes of Brown, Pavlich, Reiwoldt, Franklin and the next teir KPP. Teams will think "Ok, we can get by with the 5th or 6th best ruck in the land but if we had Brown in the goal square it means an extra 80 goals and 5 wins a year"

My order would be;

1. Brown
2. Pavlich (these would be swapped if Brown was a Sth Aussie and Pavlich was the victorian. Everyone here is in love with Brownie)
3. Franklin. Has youth on his side.
4. Ablett. Has marketing appeal as well as ability.
5. Reiwoldt. Same as ablett

Goodes would be top 5 if he was 3 years younger.

1. Brown- the most dominating forward in the game.
2. Franklin- May end his career as a great of the game.
3. Cox- One of the best ruckmen ever.
4. Ablett- Arguably the best midfielder.
5. Pavlich- Match winning Key Forward, who has great on field leadership.
