Yea, wake up quick Walshy.

Comparing a kid to one of the greatest (many say THE greatest) rucks of all time and one of two men in Riloli to win a Norm Smith in a losing GF side (who also kicked out a 4 time winner of the Tiges B&F in Raines from his spot of centreman).

Fine to give them a wrap up mate. But gee, a little bit of reality check might be in order?

You are unbelievable mate! Before WC was getting Polack, you called him the next big thing. Now WC is getting him, oh, he's incosistent. Bet you wouldn't be saying that if Freo got him. On McDougall, its a maturity problem, mentally he aint up to AFL standards, doesn't mean he can't play footy though.

BTW sabre, this draft is known to be the best draft of the last decade so don't go and weave your **** about the 99 draft being better just cause you got the best players in it!

LOL totally true.

Are the saints looking for a midfielder or a key position player?? Just want assurance that Polack will still be there come pick 3.

I'll be hoping that one of these two blokes is picked up at number 11 by the Pies.

Barry is a bit light on, but will be a star. Guy Richards for us would be a similar player with similar attributes (and touted as 8th pick last year by the Hun), but we picked him up at pick 37 last year. Interesting to see where Barry goes in the draft. Most clubs have no patience!

Jamar would be my preference as a replacement for Stunning Steve McKee. He is aparantly already "ready-made". Just what we need and we would get plenty more years out of him than a pre-used ruckman!

Sam Power is supposedly very similar to Ryan Lonie. Would be a great pick-up for anyone and if the Pies pick him at 11, I won't be disappointed!

Figjam,
I think that the Pies will go for another quick midfielder wingman with their pick. I know that many supporters at Pieland don't rate Stunning but I believe the coach doesn't care if he loses the actual ruck hitouts as long as he wins the contest and for that reason support for Buckley across the midfield is what I think the Pies will be looking for in the draft.

Wasn't it pick #25??? ;)

Yeah, but we don't have that any more.....#15 will do

Noel Judkins has stated that he will pick the best player available regardless of height, position and weight.

So it is irrelevant whether the player is a ruckman or midfielder; he will focus on the best player available.

McKenzie from the Preston Knights will be taken from the Pies as a father/son rule (3rd round).

From what I have heard he is "6 2" and played a bit of football at CHB. He is slow and plays much like a Lance "fatty" Whitnell.

I also predict Misiti will be taken by Collingwood (27) in the national draft.

And his name escapes me, but a tallish, solid player from West Adelaide (played SA under 18's) will be a smokey from the draft.

Sydney have already picked up young Sydney boy Lewis-Roberts Thompson with their one priority pick.

He is 196cm tall, and was expected to be a top 15 pick in the draft.

Another freebie... I wonder if the Swans would have picked him if it would have cost them a first round selection??? probably not...

Yes actually, they probably would have.

We have to get something up here ...
geez ...
If a Melbourne boys father has played for Essendon and Sydney, he would go to Essendon because its in Melbourne and its at home.
This has happened several times, so Sydney dont get many father-son picks!

Rohan, that smokey would be Ben Rutten. Was in the best players most games for SA in the u18 carnival, but missed the All-Australian team...probably too many other midfield contenders. He's got big wraps as a physically developed player...in your Brent Guerra maturity rating (but I believe he actually has hair)

Dunno that he's all that smokey....he'd be rated 2nd SAer, I'd guess.

Mase tell me how many Father/sons have the Kangaroos ended up with... that worked...

Micky Martyn... wasn't taken under father/son rule
Glenn Dugdale... champion footballer
Dean Dugdale... champion footballer
David Dwyer... champion footballer
Anthony Dwyer... champion footballer
Shane Cable... chose WCE instead...
Dean Greig... didn't want the pressure of playing for the Roos...
Andrew Krakouer... wasn't worth a second rnd selection... ended up at Richmond... third round...

Brett Allison... can't remember but let's say so... just so we have one that worked in our favour...

So this means the Swans are entitled to a freebie every year... You must be Joking...

What did that compensation pick cost Sydney... let me guess... SFA...

It cost them their 2nd round pick I think.

Its not just that, all the Melbourne kids want to go 'home' aswell. (Shannon Grant?????) So we need to get as many local kids as we can!!!

I agree we shouldnt get 2 (like the AFL was proposing) but we should get at least one....

I could understand your arguement if you got nothing for them when they go home... but for christ sake when Grant came back to Victoria... you got our Vice-Captain... so don't say you were ripped off... and deserve compensation...

Yeah, its a bit of a bs you're pulling there Mase.....apart from Shannon Grant, who has been homesick and left Sydney, that they wanted to keep? You've got an extra 10% of the salary cap to pay people to stay in Sydney (which is essentially 4 decent players or two stars more than anyone else)....I don't hear Bolton, Saddington, Goodes wanting to `go home'

You're the ones ditching players like Stafford, and hey, teams are naming Sydney as their first place destination for trading....Barry Hall ring any bells?

As for father/son....I seem to recall Sydney scored Heath James under that rule, getting his signature ahead of Adelaide and Port.

The fact is, your pitch sounds feasible for, say, 5 years ago...but now? Everything has changed, so you can quit rattling your poor box.

So by naming a list of 13 players the Swans have traded... what point are you trying to make... how many of these players are top shelf... lets say equal to a first round selection...

Shannon Grant
Clinton King
Anthony Rocca (at a pinch)

and that you recieved nothing or unfair compensation for...

so what did you exactly get for...

Clinton King???
Anthony Rocca???

Well .. Paul Licuria won Collingwoods B & F this year ..
Troy Cook from memory did quite well in their b & f last year (sure he aint in the best side)

Adam Heuskes was quite a good player, and was picked up about no.5 in the draft i think

Mark Kinnear - Number 4 in the NATIONAL DRAFT
Brett O'Farrell - Number 14 in the NATIONAL DRAFT
Troy Cook - Number 27 in the national draft
Mark Orchard - Got from Collingwood .. later retured
Fred Campbell - Number 40
Dwayne Simpson - Number 59
Andrew Donnelly - Number 50
Adam Heuskes - Number 5
Shannon Grant - Number 3
Simon Arnott - 87
Clinton King - Number 21
Paul Licuria - Number 24
Anthony Rocca - Number 2

For Rocca I think we got Ben Wilson and Mark Orchard, both of whom were useless, can anyone confirm this?

Not sure about King, wasnt much though.

Maze... you have not convinced me that losing these players warrant Sydney getting draft priorities or concessions...

What have these players done since leaving Sydney???
Mark Kinnear
Brett O'Farrell
Fred Campbell
Dwayne Simpson
Andrew Donnelly
Adam Heuskes (if you read today's sun you would be happy he is gone...)
Simon Arnott

So all of these have done SFA...

Troy Cook - not too different to us losing Bell...
Shannon Grant - Fair Trade...
Clinton King - wasn't much until he got to Richmond...
Paul Licuria - I don't rate him very high
Anthony Rocca - probably a fair trade if they threw some draft picks in... did they???

So no Sydney have yet to prove they deserve freebies on top of an increased salary cap...

The increased salary cap has a lot to do with the price of living!!!!

The draft pics are because we are developing the area aswell I would expect.

If the roos moved to canberra they would get the same. (and I would expect it)

The Swans priority pick isnt HUGE anyway.

Its within 50 kms of the CBD (If memory serves me correctly).

Sydney didnt even use this pick last year, or the year before (In fact I dont know when they last used it)

They give up a second round pick, and they get to pick someone in this area. It isnt much, considering the Sydney league is probably the weakest of the big leagues in oz.

So now it is for developing an area... make up your mind... it just make me sick all these concessions...

Its for a lot of things I think ...

But in the end .. I really have no idea .. lol
:p :p :D :D
