Made this poll around same time last year.

BUT as of today and looking to the future, who is the better player?

Carlton Fans cannot use the excuse that Murphy did not have a pre season.

IMO both Murphy and Pendlebury have improved on their previous years by being consistently better each game.

Pendlebury critics say that he is too slow doesn't kick enough goals etc.

Murphy critics say that he doesn't win enough of his own ball, not accoutable for his opponent and too much front running.

Pendlebury has performed admirably in finals since the 2007 WCE win and Norm Smith.

Murphy has had less opportunity.

Thoughts?

Carlton and Collingwood ppl try to keep this clean for accurate result....

Come on SexyBlueGirl, everyone knows the Brownlow is a crock of shit as demonstrated by Judd winning it last year and to a lesser extent Cooney in 08.

Anyway all that aside I'd take Murphy. He's a good user of the footy, is a great decision maker and is equally good inside as he is outside. Judd himself see's Murphy as what he was as a West Coast Eagle.

Judd at WCE was much better than Murphy has ever played.

Judd is half the player he was at WCE.

Of course he was I'm not disputing that at all. I just said that Judd see's a lot of his former self (in his WC days) in Murphy (like certain characteristics and such.) Judd at West Coast was near unstoppable.

Judd is half the player he was at WCE.

I was an Eagles fan when Judd played at WCE and I am a Carlton supporter now (although I don't religiously follow any one team), and I have to disagree with that claim. Judd is a different player now than he was at WCE. He is much harder at the footy, less flashy. Frighteningly, he has actually lost a bit of speed. I have never seen a footy player transform himself like Judd has over the years. From being the flashiest outside player in the league by far, to being the hardest and best ball winner. That's why he is a true champion (sorry for sidetracking the thread, but I just wanted to put my two cents in on that issue).

That is what trolls and people who haven't watched him play say about Murphy. The fact that you said front-runner worries me about getting trolled. I have seen Murphy play 1 bad game this year and it was in Round 3 against Collingwood. He usually cops a hard tag and rarely gets exposed the other way.

Hmm ... looks like having half the picture has rendered you with half an opinion that Judd was half the player.

I voted Murphy, but it's almost gotten down to splitting hairs over what type of player you like and what preferences you might have for your team; and in my case, perhaps a little bias. Pendles has improved again on last year more than I thought him possible, so good on him.

I recall having a preseason discussion with a couple of Collingwood posters about why I wouldn't take Pendles in a draft re-do (jabbers and FAIRANDBALANCED I think). They were going absolutely nuts, despite my argument being pretty logical; given Murphy's injury affected season (couldn't even train mid-week until half way through the season) and previous years of arguably superior form to Pendles, I'd have to wait to see how an unhampered Murphy would perform before settling on a draft re-do for the future. Murphy didn't let me down either. Wonder if those posters will post in this thread. Hi guys!

Well, I disagree. Judd was a very worthy winner.

At any rate, even though the Brownlow is not perfectly indicative, it's still FAR, FAR more accurate than a BigFooty poll.

So, let's just wait and see how they rank in the Brownlow.;)

Carlton actually have had more outstanding individual players than Collingwood this year, so if anything it should all be in Pendlebury's favour.

amazing judd could win the brownlow so easy yet not be ranked nearly as high in any other awards. yeah nah not favouritism at all...

Pendles is far ahead of murphy its not even funny.

As usual as soon as anything like the Carlton midfield is mentioned the usual sh1tfight about Judd starts, bloody tiresome TBH. He's a great player and any club would take him, he's not as good as he was and he's nowhere near as good as the moronic press paint him but still a walk up start at any club.

Pretty much sums it up.
