My AAMI experience

I was sitting in the members stand and things were relatively tame until we started getting real close. Some spitball port fans started having a go at me - (guess it was the scarf and hat) and used the Victorian umpires complaint. claimed all three were from Vic (still not sure if that was so).

When i suggested that it was ports inability to play wet weather footy and the dumb use of tredrea during the second and third quarters i copped 15 good minutes of abuse from about 20 or so people. Now i was at the game by myself and when one port supporter (actually it was his wife) actually defended what i was saying to these idiots they turned on her. When one guy abused her, her husband got up and gestured to the guy to say that again. the bloke did and i thought it would be on for one and all. The husband told his wife to change seats with him so she was next - bar one - to me and therefore she was between me and him. Things quitened down for a while until Lids got the free and i agreed with the decision pointing the replay out on the screen. the fool in front of me stood and turned around and told me to shut up - I then stood up. Some of you might know that i am 6 feet 5 and whilst not doing anything else other than standing in his face, his mate told him to sit and watch the game.

Well they got all their jolly's in the last quarter and still blamed me for the umpiring. You know the funny thing was that at the end of the game the reaction to the umps was the most vocal i have ever heard - they paid out something shocking BUT by the time Port was coming off the ground all around me had left and literally only 5 or 10 people where there had been about 200 actually cheered and clapped their team off.

This is what i found sad about these people and their life.

After the after match (who else was there?) i got back to the my room watched the last half on fox footy( really just to see the umpiring again) and still cannot believe the one eyed , no blindness of those around me.

The good news is that after this i went to their poor excuse for a casino and left with an extra 300 nicely paying for the weekend and a little left over.

21.5 hours in Adelaide just reinforced some stereotypes that are commonly held.

Interestingly i flew over on the same flight as, now let me get this right "nellie" (the us rapper in Australia at the moment) is that his name? those of you under 25 can tell me. And was on the flight back with the players.

An eventful 24 hours.

You poor cuhnt.

I've been to Adelaide stax of times and the only Good thing about the place
is the fact that all the woman are filthy whores.

It's a shame that some people take it way to seriously and ruin it for others. Seriously though, if you do go to AAMI again, and that sort of rubbish happens, grab a redcoat there the will eject people from the ground. Every side has these idiots, I've even had a go at a couple of Crows supporters for it; there is no excuse for ruining it for others.

Ask a Port supporter and apparently it is only the Crows supporters who are bad and they are the most educated, fair , loudest supporters of all time.

With regards to everyone leaving straight after the siren it is probably because of the stupid busses at Footy Park. They only run for about 20 minutes after the game so you have to leg it to ensure you get a bus.

With regards to sterotypes , you are going to get dunderheads in every crowd. As I am sure not all Richmond supporters spit on their players.

Yeah but it didn't exactly ruin it for me. I never really felt threatened, must be from cutting my teeth at Windy Hill and Victoria Park etc.

I was just amazed at the way they all left BEFORE the power even made it off the ground. I go over expecting ferals - maybe not so much in the members - but this lack of respect for their own team was apalling.

i have posted it before, but it always sticks in my memory of sitting in the members stand and seeing us go down to port by 10 goals. the most vocal the port supporters were that night was when the umpires went off at the end of the game. i swear its the most satisfying moment for a lot of them.

Peejay, were you sitting close to any of the players?

And did you actually see Nelly?

Yeah and Yeah.

On the way back i was a few rows behind the team who seemed to have the middle 7 rows or so - i suppose to get the exit row seats for the big guys - must have been the reason i did not get one as i almost always do.

And on the way over Nellie was in business but i was in row 5 - 2nd from business and the curtain was left open. He and two of his party were in business - the others in the party - 5 or 6 of them were in economy with the rest of us schleps. Although the guy i now know as nellie seemed like a nice enough guy, i mean given his obvious differance to every one else in the newsagent and departure lounge at the airport.

I apologise for the ferals in the crowd Peejay. One of your other supporters had no such problem. Unfortunately it's a curse of most clubs. Doesn't excuse it for a second though. As suggested elsewhere, next time find an official and get the dropkick thrown out. Most reasonable Port supporters would support you in doing that, as I have seen in the past.

At least your plane trips were a highlight.

Now I'm off to put on my red light and stand out the front. :)

I was there too Peejay. Drove back yesterday afternnon.

Sat with the other Tigers supporters in the forward pocket, and had an absolute ball. Had we have gotten up, it would've been up there with one of the best wins I'd witnessed, but infortunatley it was not to be. Still a cracker of a game to be at though. Even sitting in the rain was bearable given the way we were playing.

I noticed though that the Port Supporters were cocky and arrogant on the bus on the way back to the city, which was stupid considering how lucky they were to in fact win it.

Anyway, had a great time, felt a bit worse for wear yesterday, but came home thinking how bad it could've been.

Last time i went to that shtihole Peejay, i sat in a corporate box - they weren't much better up there either.

All experineces that enhance??? your life and shouldn't miss

PS: Wish you had told me you were a six footer lol

The only time I've been to Football Park was in 1986 to see Port Adelaide and Woodville/West Torrens (if they were called that back then)

I can only remember 2 things from that day...

* Magarey Medallist Greg Anderson having his jaw broken in the opening minute and
* Having to stand in a circle outside the ground to have a drink of beer.

Think you will find that it was Port Adelaide v Glenelg, when Scott Salisbury got Ando in the jaw with his forearm which almost caused a riot.
