Whilst I do agree that Fremantle have a lot of promising young blood, I'd take ours over yours any day of the week.

Its suprising that Freo fans feel the need to troll WCE even on their own team board.

Naitanui was always selected as a project player. Given that fact i think he played quite well in his first season. He was listed in the game's best players list in 3 of the last 5 games of the season which were all wins to WCE.

He beat Ryder, McIntosh, Hudson and Simmonds in the ruck to finish the season. His ruckwork was a highlight with his ability to hit our players on the chest resulting in goal scoring opportunities. He also averaged something like 4-5 tackles and 6 1%ers per game.

He didn't kick the ball often enough due to lacking confidence as well as a result of the role he was playing. However he still averaged around 10 touches a game which isn't too bad for a first year ruckman. Add to this he didn't have a pre-season and started the season late.

Masten also had a limited pre-season and was still recovering from OP on his kicking leg. For about 2 months prior to his injury he was averaging something like 26 disposals @ >70% efficiency. His field kicking has improved considerably and his i50s have been very good.

Swift was excellent towards the end of the season. Ebert and Selwood are role players and have been playing their roles this year. Not every player in the 22 is going to be a superstar.

Apparently WCE fans are the only ones to rate our kids yet if you have a look at the main board and the polls board a number of opposition fans rate us moving forward.

Time to get rid of the chip on that shoulder.

I was a Rich over Hill fan last year (though I had JZ, Hartlett and Yarran above Rich) and although his output has been better than Hill's (not by as much as many say though), I'm converted Hill's improvement this year has been HUGE and I would project he will go ahead of Rich MUCH sooner (within the next 2 yrs imo) than even many pre-draft Hill fans would've expected.

On NicNat, as much as I would like to be able to put him down, fact is he's a 200+ ruckman that does unheard of things when he's around the ball and ruckman have historically been shown to make the largest improvements from their early to peak AFL form out of all players (most of us have witnessed the HUGE improvements guys like Sandi and Cox have made from their first seasons onwards). I have only seen one ruckman (Kreuzer, and he had an elite endurance base which NN def doesn't have) at u18 level with what I would consider good or better positioning around the ground. The fact that he's already showing so much and had a v.large influence for 1st year ruck (look how much WCE improved at stoppages late in the season) whilst not getting a lot of it (although if you go through stats 10d per game is a superior output than almost every other 1st year ruck) is what is so exciting about him and ppl bagging him are going to be wiping a lot of egg off their faces in time.

I simply responded to the trollish post about our youngsters. Good to see you couldn't argue the point so you resorted to "blah blah wank wank".

I never said Freo had shit youngsters and you're right, the same does apply to both teams. I think both teams have a very good group of kids however on a side note i think Freo's KPP stocks are a little less impressive when compared to WCE.

I also commented that its amusing that Freo fans feel the need to create a thread about Naitanui bitching and moaning about the stupidity and irrelevance (irony much?) of a West Australian poll and then proceeding to troll our kids.

I think the bias on this thread is just as bad as any bias shown by the West poll.

Can't hide the fact that over the last bit of the season WCE youngsters started to show a lot. West Coast has a lot of depth coming through their midfield in Hurn, Masten, Ebert, Houlihan, Selwood, Selwood, Swift and lets not forget Luke Shuey who was a very highly rated youngster who had his season cut short by injury.

We have some very good quality young players coming through the midfield in Suban and Hill who could become A-class players with great decision making, plus the gut running of Palmer. Its not like our youngsters are all certain star players. Several have some big flaws that need to be worked on - particularly with disposal (De Boer, Palmer).

KPP's? I would take West Coast's young key position players over ours anyday!! Both Kennedy and Brown showed a lot this year, whereas Murphy/Campbell.....

IMO it could go either way as to which team's youngsters come on better.

You also have our pretty ordinary player development record which we hope Harvey and co can turn around.

Natanui's tap work is excellent. He has a long way to go with the rest of his game though. While he has the occasional good game, and they acn be quite good, he has a lot of duffers too. The Swannies/ Subi prelim was a great example. Yes he had a thigh strain but he still seemed pretty clueless about where he was meant to be or what he was ment to be doing.

Couple of other points for Spartan. Freo supporters don't start anywhere near the number of threads about Eagles players as go the other way. Here is a thread about an article in the Worst on the Freo board. How many anti-Freo threads get started in Bay 13 by idiots like Wambat and his moron cronies? A lot more than you see from us decorous and polite folk at Freo. Hell, you even have members whose names are based on taking the piss out of Freo players (Byron Clanger, anybody). Naitanui's tapwork was highlighted in a number of footy shows including Footy Classified and On the Couch.

Sheedy, Matthews, Hird and Buckley are among those to talk him up. Shit even Shaw and Walls you bag the shit out of the Eagles blow a load watching him play.

I liken Naitanui's 3 goals to Clancee Pearce's 3 against Essendon. Simply right place at the right time although Naitanui's one where he intercepted the handball was special but then he could just as easily have been found out when he stuffed the bounce up.

Also when considering youngsters whilst we may compare well over the last couple of years before that when we p!ssed our draft picks away they picked up some handy players. The 2006 national will hurt us in the coming years I think with no good young KPP coming through.
