Not necessarily so.

Reid was talking about that on 5AA and he said that they didn't take Aish with the father/son in case there was a bidding war and they had to use a lower round pick than they would like to.

It almost gave the impression that if Aish was still there in the 4th or 5th round that they just might take him, so I wouldn't necessarily rule Aish out of calculations at all - but only for a very high round pick.

Didn't JR also talk about looking forward to having 4-5 picks inside the top 30

10, 27, 30, 38, 59, 75

The big question is whether we will use 5 picks or 6 including the last pick for Taylor Walker.

If we assume that all 6 picks are used - unlikely IMO, unless the 5th one is used for Jesse Aish - then the current status is

Ins:

Symes
Moran

Outs:

Ricciuto (retired)
Hudson (traitor)
Meesen (weak as)
Mattner (traded)

or a net Outs of 2, which means that 3 more must go if we use 5 picks or 4 must go if we use 6 - with the last one always being used for Taylor Walker.

Assuming that it is 5 picks to be used then it's 3 more to go with

Perrie

Torney

Campbell or Hinge

being my nominations.

Torney would be dead set stiff, but with young HBF's in Symes, Pfeiffer and Hinge all busting to play there, his time is probably up.

Thanks. I didn't realise this.

I also don't understand the logic behind this because if it became a bidding war (unlikely) then just let someone else take him if they want to pay over the odds. Mind you, (thinking as I'm typing) if we're looking at taking him in the rookie draft then that would explain it.

I'd be more than happy to pay out Doughty and take a punt on a roughy at 59. He surely is not on an amount making it prohibitive to ditch him. Come on, surely it's time?

I'd certainly keep Campbell for another year. Goodbye to Hinge or Bode for the 4th additional player to go (on top of the 4 definites)

Yeah I agree with that too. I don't see it happening though, but hope to be proven wrong. I have no insight into the internal workings of the AFC but I have a feeling that Doughty is a NC pet.

Hopefully someone with some insight can tell me I'm wrong :)

JR full of BS, though we did use one on Symes. Dunno where he figured the rest of these great picks were coming from

He would have been hoping for a second rounder for Meesen, and pick 22 for Hudson and then maybe a second round pick for Jericho which would have taken us to 4-5 picks before 30.

10 – Alex Marc (FP / midfielder)
27 – Scott Selwood (running midfielder)
30 – Levi Greenwood – (running midfielder)
38 – Nick Salter (key forward)
59 – A young developing ruckman*
75 – Mathew Westoff (key forward)
81 – Taylor Walker (key forward)

Lachlan Button.

Anyway, not bad but not enough class. Don't worry about Westhoff and go for either Wonaemirri or Patrenko, needs some pace!

I would go for Kriston Thompson from North Adelaide rather than your boy (Wonaemirri) from Norwood.

He played in the SA under 18 carnival sides with an aboriginal background. He is super quick (11.3 over 100 M) and very good goal sense. He spent the majority of the season in North Adelaide under 19 and reserves side but didn’t crack a league game.

At this stage he is more likely to be rookie listed but definitely has talent.

I didn’t like what I saw in Wonaemirri when I watched him play for Norwood; not sure what I don’t like about him but for some reason he just didn’t appeal to me.

Pick10 - David Myers/Ebert
Pick27- Scott Selwood/Ryan Normington/Callan Ward/Levi Greenwood/Pat Mcginnity (I know its a lot of kids but one of them should be there and we should be rite with them).
Pick 30- Mitch Farmer
Pick 38 - Tom Mcnamarra
Pick 59 - Nick Salter

Personally, would prefer Cyril Rioli at 10 if still available. Don't think Selwood would last until 27......

Agree - for us, this draft needs to be about 3-4 players with pace, and maybe a KPP like Salter with one of the last two picks.

Mate that kid is the most undedicated kid since Darren Pfeiffer.

Why is it this year that all clubs have draft picks into the 120's  ......I've seen picks in 90's but never this high? ....anyone have to answer?

If we want to hold a pick or two for the PSD, what pick then has to be used on Walker?

I'll assume we use any pick so he're my go ...

10 – Cyril Rioli (178cm, 74kg)/ Pat Veszpremi (181cm, 83kg)(midfielder)
27 – Jack Grimes (187cm, 76kg) (Midfielder)
30 – Andy Otten 192cm 86kgs (Utility)
38 – Tom McNamarra (Midfielder)
59 – Nick Salter (Key forward)
75 – Taylor Walker (key forward)
81 – Pass

I'd be happy with Cyrill Rioli at 10. I assume Essendon have a pick before us?? if so, I see them taking Cyrill

Lot's of talk about Jared Brennan maybe leaving Brisbane.

I know we would be behind 8 other clubs in the PSD but is he the type of exciting forward we should be targetting with an offer too good to refuse?? I know he is not the 'small crumber' we are after but could be great value for us.

Certainly a player that has talent, but boy is he inconsistent. He can be either a match-winner or a dud on any given day. These days they usually use that lovely word "enigmatic" to cover such players.

He won't be coming to Adelaide for 3 reasons:

- it seems he wants to go to Victoria
- he'll be snaffled up by the first team in the PSD with room in its salary cap
- he wants too much money - Brisbane offered $900k for 3 years and he wants a million.

It all depends upon how many players each team decides to delist.

By my calculations (including retirements, trades, delistings & rookie promotions announced to date), here are the current senior list vacancies for each team:

Adelaide: 6 (5 if you count Walker)
Brisbane: 4
Carlton: 4
Collingwood: 3
Essendon: 3
Footscray: 8
Fremantle: 2 ***
Geelong: 4
Hawthorn: 3
Melbourne: 6
North Melbourne: 5
Port Adelaide: 3
Richmond: 2 ***
St Kilda: 4 (assuming delistings of Watts, Brooks & McQualter are confirmed)
Sydney: 0 (-1 if you count Bird) ***
West Coast: 4

*** Indicates that this club will have to delist more players. Minimum of 3 selections to be used in the ND.

This is a total of 59 selections.

By saying that the draft will go into the 120s, they're effectively saying that it will go to a 7th round (noting that Footscray have 8 selections - though the last of these would be #86, given what they received in trades). I'd estimate that there will be around 70 players taken in this year's ND.

59 selections and 60 odd passes perhaps :D

i read recently that lowly traded daft picks (eg the recent Saints->Geelong pick 90) dont need to be used come draft day. This is contrary to the old rules

Does anyone think we are a chance to use the PSD this year? Walker will go at 75, but could Rendell be looking at saving 59 for the PSD? Could Pfeiffer be a realistic chance to return? This may be a ploy to send him, and the rest of the club, notably Vince, a message. Of course they would be looking at other players as well for 59, but will this draft really run this deep?

I'm probably grasping at straws here.
