They aren’t a top end team.
Denver Philly Warriors Bucks and Mavs the top end for mine.

Lol Bucks have a worse bench than us. Mavs too. Warriors bench is not that flash either

We will flog Philly again in 2 days time and all is right with the world.

Wolves have a better bench than most of the teams you mentioned too. Sooner they trade that headcase KAT, they will be a deeper and better team too.

The records heading into the game would say otherwise would like to see what the odds were for that game other than being at home can’t see why cavs would be favourites both teams fully healthy warriors are favourites hands down.

Cavs were 1.5 point favorites. Google is your friend.

Our bench is "lightyears" better than last year. I love that we aren't cratering when Steph sits*

Horford. Prichard. Hauser. Brissett.

Portis. Crowder. Payne. Connaughton.

Not sure Boston that far ahead of at all. Beauchamp looks solid too

It's not the bench that matters come playoff time, it's whether our starting 5 esp Porzingis stays healthy.

Yeah but you said "Lol Bucks have a worse bench than us".

Boston top 6 is very strong.

Kuminga. Cp3 is not bad either if moody can improve. Payton, saric decent too

It's been apparently working for a while now

Mine is still out, and so is my Mum's. That's at 12:50 on Wednesday.

Long time lurker posting here in the NBA chat for the first time in ages, as I've only started re-engaging with the NBA since late last year. Was a Spurs fan back in the day, but started following OKC because of Giddey.

My thoughts on the season so far:
  • OKC's improvement looks like it will continue. 4-3 but apart from Denver game have been in everything. Coughed up that early lead against New Orleans and got beat by Steph buzzer beater in the defensive masterclass against GS.
    • Hoping for high 40 and potentially 50 wins, though West is tough.
    • Chet Holmgren looks the business. Rim protection makes a massive difference.
    • SGA is far better than most of the league realises. Elite balance and ability to find a shot in traffic. Will be invaluable if OKC make post-season and their 'everyone gets 5 assists' offence gets tested.
  • At some point this season, Wemby is going to score 50, probably 30 in the paint and 20 from the outside. And that is kind of ridiculous.
  • The real question for everyone else this season is, can they beat Denver in a 7 game series. So far, outside of Boston the answer would seem to be no.
  • The best asset Philly got in the Harden trade was the absence of Harden and Maxey playing PG. Maxey one of my favourite player to watch outside OKC.
Anyway, hello. I'll be around here more going forward.

I'll also be interested to see whether Embiid actually delivers in the playoffs this year.

Bear in mind that Philly has been a bin fire since he got drafted, plus judging a player on their playoff performances whilst they're being coached by Doc Rivers is a big potentially confounding variable. Doc's systems weren't robust enough to withstand good opposition coaches picking holes in them over 7 games, and Embiid would have been the target of most of the planning.

So as much as last year's MVP was a complete media circus and Jokic probably should have won, and yes, Embiid has regularly been a playoff letdown I will be interested to see whether that's a product of system rather than Embiid himself.

Of course, he might just be a big choker and maybe he's the reason poor Doc Rivers got fired. I guess we'll find out.

It'll be tough for embiid if they go into playoffs with maxey as the 2nd best player. Assuming Morey wants cap room for next free agent period as reported.

As for the Denver match up I think Boston and Milwaukee will be confident. If nuggets win the west.

OKC are the most fun team.

Good news I am back online :)

Yeah OKC are a top 5 entertaining team to watch (along with Pacers, Pels, Celts, Nugz)

Made the right move to trade him to washington for beal
well... the way CP3 is shooting potentially yes.
however considering beal's (recent) injury history we may have been sold a lemon.

either way no worse than we were with CP3. The Durant trade was the unnecessary one - nearly win a title with that but for a game 4 mini-choke and overreact halfway through the next season. when at the time all of paul, ayton and booker had missed quite a few games for the W/L record was not reflective at all of the state of the roster.

Meanwhile the Lakers have barely lost a free throw count since January.

''Sleepless nights''.

Not sure if replacing Monty with Vogel as coach was the smartest move by the Suns either tbh

The new Bill Simmons podcast which dropped this afternoon is great.

You should hear what he says about Adam Silver (lol) and is rightfully bullish about Minnesota and perhaps (to my surprise) Houston.

Some interesting anecdotes about how cursed New Orleans is as a NBA franchise too (dating back to the days they were known as the Jazz)

Let's settle a bit, we have been pulling out excellent 3-7 game stretches for a decade. We need to be sustaining the level for the better part of the season before we deserve any extra expectations whatsoever.

Fair enough, although I do like his suggestion about the Wolves starting Naz Reid instead of KAT (although he wasn't really critical of Anthony-Towns at all)

If the Wolves can keep up their current defensive efficiency for most of the season (currently number 1 according to Bill) you will be in final fettle, but you are right in its too early to tell.
