Pkye I believe still has strong family connections in Adelaide

Can anyone confirm?
Brother James Pyke (ex-Redback, ex-Norwood) lives here with his family. Has for 30 years.

Caro was the only journo who called it when we were into Phil Walsh. If she says we're into Don Pyke, we're into him in a big way. She's right, of all the potential coaches out there he's the best tactician, which is the biggest hole Walshy has left behind. I thought he wanted to be in WA for family reasons - if he was willing to move to Adelaide he would be my first choice, even more so if Woosha was to stay on as his mentor.
Would like to see campo stay on as mid coach if pyke took over
Also keen for ROK to have greater responsibility ...not sure pyke would need a mentor , v experienced

The more I see Campo - the more impressed I get with him.

Would be more than happy to stick with him in the head coach chair, and maybe move around a few of the line coaches for some fresh approaches?

If:
  • Pods came in as forward coach
  • Teague moves to a strategy / structure role
  • Milburn stays on with the backs (massive fan of him, we really need to hang onto him if we can)
  • maybe Lade into the ruck spot, although Clarke hasn't really done much wrong
  • Someone new for the mids (would love Tyson Edwards to get back to the club and mend that bridge, wishful thinking though)
Would that work?

I have noticed a couple of changes to selection for example with CEY - but maybe Campo is a more hard-line coach than we are giving him credit for and he is demanding something of certain players? Maybe Crouch falls under this umbrella too?

Either way, I'm liking what he is doing - and think that he has the potential to be a great coach for us.

Picked Wright this week? Yes, then the answer is no

Is the coaching field the thinest it has been for sometime.

Hard to know isn't it? Same names have been in the mix for years - Sumich, Tudor etc. Are they ready or have they been passed over for a reason?

Fair no of recent coaches have been busts - Watters, Neeld, Sando, Voss. Then again it took Clarko a while to establish himself

None get me excited except the possibility that Pyke is Walshy 2.0

What a fairytale that would be!

don't know much about Pyke so I'm not going to get too carried away saying he's perfect or anything, but he does sound ideal if we can bring him over here.

unfortunately however a mate said A. Jarman mentioned he was in the running on the radio so that's officially jinxed it from ever happening.

He's been reading the board.

Watching half time on Fox Footy, I had a thought we could look outside the box and employ a basketball coach to implement a full court press and defensive zone?

A defensive assistant coach, not a defensive back 6 line coach but an holistic defensive coach.

It's what happens when the afl spits coaches out this quickly.
I often hear that said though.

I reckon it is more that fans are less exposed to all the information about who is actually a gun at their job and the former coaches are the people we are more familiar with and none of them are too appealing?

Oh look we are in a terrible position to be able to judge a coaches merits.
