Local footy saying Bundoora being investigated over what they call salary cap 'anomalies'
I believe this spawned from a player trying to leave and then finding out his contract had a different amount as to what was agreed. Eg. "Hey mate we will pay you $500 a week and then writing $200 a week on his submitted contract"

IMO this is the EASIEST way to catch clubs. They should be quizzing players and making them sign stat decs.

Hearing the NFNL is very confident of returning to PCO for finals. I believe they are rubbing their hands together at running the day and making more money.

IMO they should sign a 20 year lease with the council and use it for Rep footy, Umpire base training, Offices and offer it for overflow games or marque games etc.

A Melbourne local footy power club has been investigated over salary cap ‘anomalies’

One of the biggest clubs in Melbourne local footy is set to learn its fate over a salary cap probe in the coming weeks.

Bundoora will learn its fate over salary cap “anomalies” this month.

The Bulls have been under investigation by the AFL’s integrity unit after issues were raised earlier this season.

It is understood a disputed clearance before the mid-season cut-off revealed differing figures.

A report has now been handed to the NFNL and will be presented to the board at it’s next meeting on October 21.

Bundoora will then be informed if any sanctions will be handed down.

It is believed any issues that have been found have not resulted in a direct breach of the salary cap.

Rather, it is expected to be an administration error.

The AFL and Northern league have been investigating the issue with full co-operation from the Bulls.

Bundoora president Gary Hickey has been contacted for comment.

The NFNL Division 1 club finished ninth this season, winning four games to avoid relegation.

The club’s reserves were winless this season but, positively, the under-19s reached the Division 3 grand final.

In netball, the Bulls reached the Division 7 and 11 deciders and saw Lauren Davies (Division 10) and Monique Costanzo (Division 11) win goalshooter titles.

Earlier this year, Southern league club Heatherton were found to have breached salary cap rules in 2024.

The error was deemed to be administrative and the club’s salary cap and player points allowance were reduced, while it was fined $5000.

Essendon District club Burnside Heights breached payment limits by $20,560 in 2024.

The club’s player payments and player points were also reduced, extending from 2025 to 2027, while it was fined $20,000, with $10,000 suspended.

However, the biggest story of the year was EDFL powerhouse Keilor being stripped of its 2023 Premier Division premiership.

The Blues were found to have breached the salary cap in 2022 and 2023.

While the EDFL said the breaches were not “dishonest or wilful”, the club was still stripped of its title and hit with reduced player payment limits for the 2025, 2026 and 2027 seasons and fined $50,000, with $20,000 of that suspended.

The Northern league salary cap in 2025 was set at $125,000 for Division 1 clubs, $100,000 for Division 2 and $75,000 for Division 3.

Do the Knights still play out of there?

Knights still play there but train out at Parade which with a few additions could easily be a permanent home IMO

Spent 18mths bouncing between both venues post COVID and even the lights at PCO were substandard for training which certainly didn’t align.with “above standard”or “semi elite” labels tied to such programs

Unless Darebin Council fire a shot and upgrade it’ll soon fail to meet requirements surely

PCO definitely has the best "finals" feel out of all the grounds that the NFNL have used. Plus it gives me an excuse to head back to Cramers Hotel and chase the money that the More Chilli machine owes me

As in playing Coates league games at Parade?

The council will sell that ground as quick as they can for the highest price. Being trying to get rid of the market for years to sell to developers, this is a gift to the council.
Doubt it they are a socialist council Darebin wVF
I would think that as TNFS has just established a convivial relationship with NFNL H/Q that it may be prudent for them to wait until H/Q has determined things before any commentary on it.
Are they that smart? On the salary cap why cant premiers in all comps across the state be audited each season along with some random clubs.Wont stop but might limit the extra spending and $125 k is to low.$500 a game for a solid Div 1 player over 18 games means u could pay 14 players only as a very general example yes lots get more some less

Every premier in the NFNL is audited and a handful of random clubs.

Getting caught is next to impossible unless you are genuinely stupid

south morang must be a bit of a rabble. sacking their premiership coach after a strong competitive season Even tho being relegated surely they must have known it would lead 2 player exodus

No he quit because they were looking behind his back and going to do it after they found a replacement. Great way to treat a premiership coach.

ah yes the Phil plunkett scenario. also known as being shafted. Knew something was suss when I saw his son wearing a hurstbridge scarf at the gf. Good to see hursty having a crack though , beware tigers the bridges are coming for you !
