NFNL Div 3 discussion 2024

Was actually at Club Noble today for reasons not relevant here. I can assure you the pokies were going gangbusters.

I think what you mean is certain greeny councils that want to ban a totally legal activity (not getting into the morals of pokies, some like em some dont) unless you are a casino or Matheson type. Far be it for local clubs to get some green. The NP issue was they owned interest in gaming and their greeny council said they could not or they would not rent them the ground. They never had any at the ground at all.

To be honest if every club was set up like Club Noble and no rich prick(s) or casino existed, I am sure local sports would not have any financial issues. They remain a Non-Profit organisation where all money is invested in the Club, facilities and community.....not some Portsea mansion.

Just my opinion.
100% if every club is set up that way it would be amazing and there would be no financial issue. But it’s simply not viable for some clubs.
Plus I’m sure some junior clubs who are affiliated with senior clubs would have an issue with pokies and a local bar running while kids are there.

Not saying it would be easy and I know there would be the angry mob that pokies are bad but they are legal and if managed and controlled I think much better than pubs and casinos that HAVE TO (by law) give some measly money back to the community, all profits remain if this happened.

Correct, and that cannot be stopped, totally different to NP issues where their council did not want them to own them.

We are screwed if the lefty w***ers stop clubs getting sponsorship from pubs and RSLs etc. Next they will stop service stations due to petrol, car yards that dont sell EVs etc etc etc.
I genuinely cannot figure out the logic why you would stop pokies money helping community sports but allow the pokies to keep operating and the profits go where? To an individual?

Who else is ivanhoe expecting how many more signings….
Just Thursday beer talk Turkish.
  • Ex-AFL player linked to club
  • a few 2022 premiership players enquiring
  • a couple ex-Ivanhoe players interested
....... and then a few more Thursday night beers!

So with that all in mind..... rumour mill is in overdrive, factual basis is very limited 😊 I'll try and find out more tomorrow when I have a look at the game.

Ivanhoe v Lalor should be a VERY tight game with the Hoers losing another 4 this week to injury & unavailability, but did get 4 returning. Hoping to get some more back in the next couple of weeks, but this week is a very important game for our club.

Enjoy the weekend all.

How wrapped will those be who slugged out the pre season and supported the move across leagues only for a few to jump on late after disappearing in 2023 when times were more of a challenge. How many more blow in types can the “Hoes” accomodate?

Good luck managing it all Chump

Ha ha ha - oh Rusty - please!

Slugged it out over pre-season - one of the oldest most dated 'reasons' given for why 'new' players should not be considered as the year progresses:

  • what if a club has long term injuries?
  • what if you know people are heading O/S?
  • what if you are now targeting positions that could make your list better after seeing your competition this year?
  • what if you are now in a stronger financial position to consider some 'extra' talent?
Do you think that IF these things are happening, that those that slugged it out over pre-season would be happy or disappointed with those in charge of list management trying to 'better' the teams chances of winning games?

Re Blow ins: I think those who are working on things (coaches & footy manager) have a detailed understanding on things and 'why' many did not play in 2023. 'Most' of the 2022 names I was told are same people who became members, provided sponsorship (as started businesses), were 0/S last year or stayed around the place even when they could not play. As they say Rusty - not all is as it seems.

That said, if you do know of any 'blow in types' looking for a kick, pm me their details and I'll pass it onto the decision makers who manage the list, culture and finances 😊

Wow wee - exciting news about to drop re the Hoers. A couple of VERY handy recruits discussed this evening over a frothy ..... and June 30 still some time away!
I could get better info if I read the Phuket news over here.
Stop the prick teasing and announce Dusty will you
