So what exactly do we do with our NGA’s?
Do we train them?
Are they at the club?

No trolling. Genuine intel.
But the longer this takes the more concerning it is for us (and the Crows). The Crows and Family believe they have a strong case.
I'm sure no club has made an 'absolute promise' to draft him but the family and manager are constantly meeting clubs, including one senior coach who flew over for the morning to meet them himself (not Clarko) several weeks ago. Has had numerous follow up meets with clubs in the last week.

Are they actually considered a top 50 draftee?

So why all the secrecy if numerous other clubs are supposedly showing interest.

Nationals are only a fortnight away now, is this player in the SA squad for the Nationals?

You use the word numerous in regards to clubs interest so surely this player has to be reasonably high profile.

I'm confused as to why a senior coach would fly over to meet the guy. Seems very unusual - unless it is a situation where the player may be eligible for multiple clubs?

Because it is not my story. I am not going to say his name. If people work it out in the next 'fortnight' or so, then so be it. He has met all 18 clubs at least once. His name has only been mentioned by one poster on here. There has been some incorrect info on his bio which has been repeated on several podcasts which might be off putting to most of us not familiar with him (absolutely not character related - he is a fine upstanding young man). The clubs know otherwise, hence their significant interest.

Well if all 18 clubs have big interest I really don't get why it's such a big secret, sounds like he's a draft certainty if the info you have supplied is right. The Cochrane's or Port never made a secret of their desire for Dougie to be a Port draftee, in fact going public probably had a big bearing on the AFL approving it. So I just don't get why this draftee is cloaked in secrecy.

Regardless of the name, I think most of us are confused as to the nature of the mechanism that the player/club are trying to have approved. Can you confirm, or not, whether it is another Cochrane-type suddenly discovered indigenous background case?

Reckon it's Archie Van Dyke. Mentioned once in response to Plugger.
But he's a South Adelaide lad and if he did discover indigenous roots would be a part of Port's NGA wouldn't he?

Crows have North Centrals Sturt and Glenelg.

They have to be from one of those SANFL clubs right or junior club in those SANFL club zones? Port Noarlunga is firmly in South's zone

Im sensing a dalliance which has now come to light

Maybe he lives in our zone similar to Cochrane

i.e. South Adrlaide's Benny Barrett (Papua/New Guinean heritage), Zemes Pilot (Indigenous/African/American heritage).
Archie Van Dyk (190 cm ball magnet midfielder with an all round game)was a genuine top 10 prospect coming into this season before his back issues came to the fore. I had him as the number 1 SA prospect coming into the season.

Why would that require any approval from the AFL? DNA would show all.
Because its not a factor/rule

This or any claim would still require a change in the rules and a way forward on how to handle it
