Shoulda tried more baz, less ball.
106 run loss when you lose the toss and have to bat 4th is no disgrace in India on deterioting pitches. They had India concerned for a while and entertained the cricket world still. Most other teams would have poked and plodded around for 100 overs and been all out for 200. No issues with Bazball in this test.
India controlled the game from day 1. At no stage did the Poms look like threatening them.

Its entetaining to watch either england or india lose, so theres no way it wouldnt be entertaining.
England batted for less than 130 overs.
India more than 200 overs.
If you're at the crease, you can score runs.
The problem with not playing shots in India especially in the 4th innings is the score creeps along going no where and then you get a shooter along the pitch sooner or later to get you out. Jaiswal , Gill and Bumrah had stand out tests and were the difference in the end. Not many visiting teams score anywhere near 300 in the 4th innings over there. A dozy run out from Stokes and it could have been closer.
Speaking of the Stokes run out. What a shockingly lazy piece of cricket that was. He just jogged his 1st 5 steps and was out by a bees dick. Terrible leadership

I’ve had far too much fun watching this on mannny repeats….but it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving downhill skier ….still makes me laugh at the lack of shot selection…..

If Joe Root doesn't go the tonk after only just getting to the crease they go very close to winning the match. Reckless aggression is costing England test match wins. But it is entertaining.

The frustration with Root at the moment is he is one of the worlds best players but he is trying to play Bazball like the rest of them but he would be better just playing his normal game as he scores quickly anyway and would be the rock the other natural stroke players play around. The only get out card for him is that he damaged his finger and spent the previous day off the field and they didnt think he would be batting in the final innings at one stage. Add to that Popes, Hartley & Foakes were struggling with a virus on the final day they were up against it. Stokes has been an amazing captain and leader but looked a bit jaded on the final day with his run out.
England are as entertaining as they are tiresome. For all their chest-beating about playing the game the right way and moral victories, they sit second last on the World Test Championship.
They fell behind early in this match and whilst they kept it interesting, they never really threatened to win and were clearly outplayed. That they were bowled out for closer to 300 than 200 is largely irrelevant when they were chasing 400 other than to say that the rest of the series should be good.
The England of old would have been all out for 180 so the attacking approach whilst reckless at times is more effective. Harry Brook back in the side will make a difference as will Kohli for India. Plus the poms are playing 3 spinners with only 3 tests between them going into that test with no Jack Leach their best spinner available. All young kids/. 10 days rest and both teams will re-stock.
Hopefully Baz has his finances sorted out although I suspect he's likely to find a T20 coaching role in one of the leagues or even at international level so he'll fall on his feet either way.
I dont pay much attention to the World test Championship. Its who you play, when & where you play and then points deducted for slow over rates. Its tainted like the AFL draw. Look at the Sth African 3rds team over in NZ at the moment. Points for jam
2nd last but they haven't lost a test series for over 12 months. West Indies are above them. Work than one out. Its a load of crock
