About bloody time!

We've thrown away some finals we absolutely should have won in the past. So it feels amazing to finally notch up #1.

And to do it in that fashion, with Owens going absolutely balistic. It felt like the 07 Grand final when Port got stomped 163-44.

So many players in the team that absolutely deserved the title.

Gotta love the fireworks - I think they had a budget of $80. 10 skyrockets and 10 penny bungers.
I used to enjoy going to Hobart for work when they still had crackers. It was around 1980 ad 81. Probably shouldn't say too much but the neatly woven set of 12 penny bungers that went off in the underground carpark of the hotel we were staying at was the result of some meticulous wick weaving to achieve a near perfectly simultaneous detonation. It wasn't my work but I was sure the entire crew were going to be kicked out because of it - the hotel staff were in a complete and utter tizz over it.

We used to have the best cracker nights back then.

You could get a shopping back full of stuff for five bucks.

Geeze we did some stupid things with them.

We used to bring back heaps (not saying how they were carried across to the mainland though) when we worked down there. I think the rules were pretty strict on when fireworks could be set off - it was for labour day or something I think. Anyway, a few of us literally bought all of the good crackers from all of the shops in Glenorchy - the local kids would have been mighty annoyed I reckon.

Geeze you're right. We did some bloody stupid things with them.

Now when I hear the odd firework or see a skyrocket I shake my fist and complain (as if anybody is going to take notice). Off to the grumpy thread I trot.

Has anyone ever made 300?
Twice, both by good teams vs very inexperienced teams.

Nepal 3/314 vs Mongolia in Guangzhou, China for the Asian Games in 2023. Mongolia's first international cricket event and to their credit, they played with only homegrown players instead of stacking it with former first-class players from other countries.

And then...

Zimbabwe 4/344 vs Gambia in a T20WC sub-regional qualifier a couple of months back. Zimbabwe only there because they shat the bed in qualifying for the T20WC last year and now have to start at the bottom again.

Highest score conceded by a full member, fwiw, is when India scored 297 against Bangladesh in October.

Sydney bowled pies
Bowling around the world is below par these days, in all 3 forms. Should be a batting index which takes the state of the pitch into account. Pie bowlers on Highways, even with the increased diameter of the seam - it's a bit easy!

Got my ticket for Ashes opening day on Thursday - can’t wait.

well done - A bit like our women’s team, an opportunity to see a really great side in action- not many teams you can say have bona fide match winners from 1 to 11
