Every year we are too scared to play the youth until we're 100% sure, absolutely positively definite they're ready..
Almost correct.

You missed the part about waiting until we've exhausted our options with soon-to-be-delisted players.

Playing Tambling and Callinan last year when our season was gone...what was the ****ing point?

To be fair, Vader is just saying what the selectors do. The selectors clearly think Shaw offers more than CEY at the moment since he is getting games and CEY is not. No point having a go at vader about something that is not his fault/idea.
So let's just agree with the selectors persisting with porps, pets, Shaw, injured thommo, etc ... Whilst we have form options

I don't give a shit about any of that, both are still playing in our AFL side. I mean there is plenty to get angry about with our club atm, but this just seems like potting the club for the sake of it.

No it's not. It's a comment on the change to their (Griggs) status. Last week Grigg was selected in the seniors. After that game, where he was ok, certainly better than pets, his status changed to either afl or sanfl. It may not be getting dropped yet, but it sure is an indication of a small step being taken towards it. A step that some think that Grigg didn't deserve ahead if a couple if others.

At the start of each season you see players making their debut everywhere, yet not at the AFC..

Some of these start playing....... and keep playing.. Amazing that..
Because they feel confidence has been placed in them, and they also learn and adjust - which is the only way they will do just that..

I'm not saying play every single one early and the extremely raw ones, but have a little bit more faith....

Matt Crouch didn't debut for us yet? Maybe I'm getting confused.......

And once again, when?
After we were so shit and got a few more injuries..

Even if you could count that, it's one player..
You can't deny our history with it..

If we didn't have injuries would we have? Besides he started sub and without Thommo going off he would have got a quarter.

We should go after Paul Roos?
Let's start with giving a promising midfielder a few games when our midfield is getting smashed.

Well our youth won't get any better if we don't play them.
Not true at all. They won't learn a damn thing if they're thrown into the deep end before they learn how to swim. Do that and they just sink without a trace.

Develop them in the SANFL until they're ready - then and only then do you promote them to the AFL, where they can develop further.

Our results are proof of this?
Our results are proof of the fact that we have 1/3 of our best team in the medical ward and fewer top-10 draftees than any other club in the entire competition. It's got nothing to do with the monumentally stupid idea of throwing the kids to the sharks without giving them shark repellant.

Yeah, that's the status now. This week.

Our results have been below par for a long time and it is worth looking at whether our prevailing attitudes are delivering us the best results.

And for the millionth time - we cannot use no top ten picks as an excuse if we've never taken steps (trading players for them, filling our team with kids) to get top 10 picks.

I think there are plenty of "prevailing attitudes" which need changing. Starting with the club's refusal to "bottom out" - which seems to be the only way of acquiring a decent level of talent, given that we're still waiting for our first F/S selection.

The fact that we don't have many kids who are ready in their 1st year is largely a function of the type of players selected (mostly long term project types) and a lack of high draft picks (particularly over the last 5 years). It has next to nothing to do with whether or not the selectors are overly conservative in the timing of when they bring the kids into the senior team. Those who are capable of playing in their 1st season do - the Crouch brothers are proof of that.

Of course I know. In the end Grigg and Brown held their spots ahead of CEY, Shaw and Martin. But you think they just randomly chose some names out of a hat to fill up spots in the SANFL team? They were the ones in the mix to go out.
Clearly they just had to name someone in the twos as the development players for the week probably weren't finalised. Grigg and Brown being named clearly means they weren't in the firing line to get dropped... I mean seriously Carl, you're reaching.

He wasn't dropped, and being named in the SANFL side means SFA if they aren't dropped! You are reaching like many others on this board over this issue, move on, they are bloody playing!

But you are basing your opinion on your opinion. They were named in the reserves which means he's got facts on his side.

You really are an agitator ......how's M.Crouch for a player given a go early

How about the fact we were excluded from the last two drafts and forced to take "project" players

So who are you talking about specifically?
