I know. Like the team was released yesterday, you'd think that this would be discussed somewhere on this board! Crazy stuff!

Jack needs to learn what it takes to become a consistent player. The gap between his good and his bad is just too wide. Needs time like a lot of our kids do.

Some errors have crept into his game and he needs to work on them. Some dont involve kicking goals.
Dean Polo has alot of errors. I would rather devalop a key forward then have a soft HBF running around.

Jack should get a game ahead of alot of players in the team, He is our only Key Forward:thumbsd:

Rediculous that JR is not at FF this week.

IMO the "need for another week in the 2's" is rubbish.
Do we seriously believe that Pettifer will be a better marking target than Jack? Reiwoldt took his medicine after being dropped & responded with a strong game and 6 goals.

Between Brown, Morton & Pettifer we have ample mid sized forwards but glaringly will be 1 leading/marking target short in the forward 50.

I'm still 'banking' on a late change with Jack comming in before tomorrow night.

When does Coburg play... tomorrow or Sunday?

If hes any good he should be able to kick six in the VFL 2 weeks in a row dont just put him in on one good performance make him earn it

What a load of crap this is??.TW has got his favourites it's simple, how many senior players this season got games after not performing because he kept faith in them it made me sick.Jack is young and needs time to develop and should play the whole season so he can develop further. He did the hard work at coburg last week and was good.

Well if he applied that to everybody on the list including senior blokes I wouldnt complain ,but he doesnt that's the difference.

he will probably be a late inclusion, otherwise im not fazed by him not being included in the team. lets see him kick two bags of 6 before he comes back eh

schulz did not come straight back when he kicked 6 his forst week back at coburg. so why give jack a easy run back into richmond. just because many think he is our next big thing doesnt mean he can have a bad run and still get games.

Make him do it a couple of weeks in a row and work on the things that he got dropped for.
He will be back sooner then later, always dominates the VFL

The fact that you consider him a key forward demonstrated how thread bare our talent is up forward. Jack is not a KPF, he is a big flanker and at best will be a good third tall. What is more concerning is your suggestion that he is our best Key position option when he isn’t even a true KPP.

This is yet another example of the lack of foresight shown by Terry. He has known for years that Richo wont be around forever and now we are stuck with a kid who is having too much pressure heaped on him whilst playing out of position. Where’s the depth up forward. Nobody can argue he hasn’t had enough time.

How does he think playing the likes of Pettifer and Morton in KP’s up forward is going to benefit or develop the side at all?

Terry has ****ed Jack over by not allowing him to play his natural role, poor recruiting doesn’t just look bad, it effects the development of other players

Would you by an antenna with no TV. The blokes a ****ing nuffy.

What a crock, Jack played every game up until the Lions game and had responded with 7 goals for the season. In other words he has been given plenty of time to turn his form around but wasn't able to. So he should go back to Coburg, anything less than that would be showing favouritsm.

What disappoints me was the article in the HUN where Jack huffed and puffed how he wanted to dominate CHF, take the winning mark, kick the winning goal, sounded fantastic. Reality is he shows little endeavour to do the hard team orientated things. Seems to be lazy, just relying on his natural ability. A month with the Burgers might jolt some sense into him.

I agree he's no KPF and would need to bulk up alot to ever be one.
If he remains a HFF he needs to learn how to tackle and display offensive pressure before he'll be any good.

What did you want him to say?

"I think I'll just cruise by on my talent and kick a couple each week, no need to go hard."

Of course he's going to say that, we shouldnt shoot him down for aiming high. Again, he is not the problem, the problem is that we continue to play him out of position, ask him to hold a KP when he cant.

Why are we asking him to do this? We havent drafted accordingly

Did you read the article? It wasn’t an off the cuff quote, it was a feature article. Fast forward to Alex Rance on the footy show last night. Superb. So humble after (accidentally) taking out Green and Selwood with guts, endeavour and eyes only for the ball. Jack could do no worse than hang around Alex for a while. And he hasnt been asked to hold down CHF. I thought you of all people would have noticed that.

we need a big strong forward in hughes/vickery/post ect. to take the no.1 forward spot. then have either patto or gus up forward resting and reiwoldt as the 3rd forward and he would absolute dominate.

who would have thought pre 2004 that this would be our problem? we always had big marking forwards - Richardson, ottens, gale, holland, stafford etc. all capable of taking big grabs and kicking goals. we lost them all bar richo to trades and retirement and replaced them with raw talent which for various reasons has not come on.
here are the candidates for FF/CHF from our list now.

Richardson - Injured at the moment - we all know he can do it but is better for the team on the wing so we can develop a forward line sans richo.
Vickery - more of a ruck than a forward, may develop the skills to play forward but is too raw right now.
Putt - not sure on him i guess he is still too raw and needs more development.
Post - too raw right now but may be the best prospect of them all.
Graham - we need him in the ruck but seems capable of taking a grab and scoring.
Pattison - doesnt seem to dominate as a forward. i like him around the ground in the ruck but jury out as a forward - in hindsight keeping ottens would have been better value.
Simmonds - past it. can still kick a goal but this should be his last year and we need to develop other options.
Gourdis -as the richmond official i talked to put it 'built like tarzan plays like jane' - obviously not up to it right now.
Polak - still injured. if he can make it back he could be our big forward but needs to learn to kick it through the middle sticks not the other ones.
Schulz - in and out of the team has had so many chances he doesnt look like having a chance now.
Hughes - plenty of talent but an attiude problem keeps him from being given a chance to show his wares. wake up you idiot!

smaller but able to hold down a key post up forward
bowden - may see this with the inclusion of thursty this week he would be a good full forward but is not the future.
lids - would be a very damaging forward but we need in further up the ground.
moore - better value up back and besides he only kicks behinds.
reiwoldt -has been out of sorts and has plenty of talent but there are doubts about his size in holding down one of the main forward line spots.
jackson -our best tagger and better value in the middle. i am sure he would do well as a forward but we need him elsewhere.
tuck - likewise we need him in the middle.

as you can see we have lots of options but none of them are working right now. hopefully one or two of putt, post, vickery, hughes or polak come on sooner than expected or patto suddenly gets a knack for taking lots of big grabs up forward. otherwise we turn to the draft again

Jack has been shit seniors, passable VFL last week, Thursty shit all round - hmmmm

I like Jack but walking the walk talks louder to me.

We need to become pro-active rather than reactive.
Samples of being reactive rather than pro-active.
Richo crook hamstring against Sydney, small ground against a side which has small forwards and a proven in-ability to control big blokes who can mark. Graham plays well in role so next week in comes Simmonds, goes Ok but a week to late to try a role he has been getting groomed for most of pre-season.
This week Thursty comes in, because ultimately Tredrea bared our back side down back last week, playing Essendon who has only one real tall key forward , yet who themselves lack height down back.
Horses for courses, Jack and Schulz should be played this week and tried to expose them down back, instead we react to our lack of height down back last week and pick Thursty, agree thursty should be in the side but wrong week to bring him in, if it happens.;)
