So, wayniac (our resident RL expert) who is right - the commentators or the bunker? Was it a try to Penrith or did the officials get a crucial call wrong for the second GF in a row?

Im generally not one to watch the NRL, but I did tonight. The commentary seemed to be somewhat biased towards Penrith.

Help out a n00b here.

Do you only need to win the second half of NRL games to be declared a winner. Because the commentary team seemed to be carrying on post match as if Penrith had achieved some sort of moral victory tonight.

Would have to be one of the most phenomenal sporting performances of all time.

Left Melbourne in a panic.

Out of their beds and normal life for five months.

Away games almost every week.

Lostone of the greatest players of all time end of last season.

Bellamy can come and take over from Bevo anytime he wants.

That ended up closer than I had wished. Finally something good about 2020.

Context, Chicago, you are part of that magical 2016 (what was in the water in the western edge of Europe, Norther Americas and Australasia ?)

Bellamy may be the greatest coach this country has ever seen in any sport

Would have to be part of the conversation

Yes, within one month and one day ( Oct 1 - Nov 2 ) my two favourite teams, which had a combined total of 170 years without a championship, won. The Cubs actually won at 12:30am Nov 3 Cleveland time but it will always be 11.30pm Nov 2 for Cubs fans. Perhaps this year Nov 3 will become a winning date for me. :)

Never been to Boston. Closest I got was 150 km to the west to visit a theme park with my nephew in 2004. (The only place in New York City that I've visited is Coney Island on that East Coast roller coaster trip.)

Boston is about 1500km from Chicago.

Ah, quite close, then, say hello to Mick when you see him next

Bunker got it wrong. Given that the game is played at light speed these days, they can analyse the lead up. In days gone by, it would have been a try. A similar example was in an Ashes game many moons ago when Mal Meninga impeded an English player who was chasing Ricky Stuart.

The worse decision was the first sin bin. The worst one was the final sin bin, that had been going on all game.

The worstest (sic) was Phil Gould and his awful commentary where he always goes for NSW teams (Origin, home and away and now the GF). I said to my son during the game what an ass he was making of himself.

When did the rule change for the crossover mate?

I grew up in QLD and am far from an expert but that was my belief when it happens also?

I don't know when they tightened up on the shepherding rule. NRL and English RL have always had interpretations that differed and in the 60's the Aussie refs were just plain corrupt.

NRL has it all over AFL for rules though. It looked to me that one of Dustys goals could have brushed the post but didn't appear to be reviewed. His last goal, Stanley said he touched it. That was BS and I would suspend players for cheating or just award goals for anything that goes through the posts. Only game in the world where touched balls lower the score and are always controversial.

The Vunavalu and Pappy tries were what makes the game so thrilling. Nearly as good as "the dam wall has broken" 2016. LOL.

LOL.

My only trip to Chicago was a transit from Manchester to San Francicsco and I nearly got shipped back to England for something that happened the year the Red Sox won the World series after coming back in the playoffs against the Yankees. I was at Pacbell Park when the Sox walked Barry Bonds and the crowd went nuts.

Nearest I got to Boston was Cos Cob/Greenwich. That was 1997 and I drove a crappy FWD hatchback all the way through Vermont for some skiing and continued to Niagara Falls and Toronto and back to Philly. That was the biggest car rental bill I've ever had around $1200 USD.

I presume that was 2004? I was in Las Vegas when the Red Sox won the World Series, Paris Casino to be exact. Everywhere was packed and the noise unbelievable when the Sox won. I presume you would have been in a bit of trouble at O'Hare since you were coming from Manchester and they thought you might have been one of those United supporters? :)

Yes, 2004. I was living in Monterey at the time and had been back to Leeds to visit family. It was one of those silly situations where I had an entry ticket to the USA, my H1B visa was ending and they said I needed a return ticket. I had a ticket from LA to Sydney booked for later but couldn't produce it. A few frantic calls to American Airlines and I was allowed to continue to SFO. The US border people are the rudest on the planet!

So now that this flu thing is over it looks like I'll be able to get a new US passport. Mine expired last year and I've had no valid picture ID since then. We have to have a certain size photo for it and other typical US red tape crap so I couldn't go to Aus Post for one. The US Consulate lists a number of places that will do it correctly, so I'll be heading off to Ted's, but not until I have a haircut. I presume this will be my last passport and I must look my best. At least it will only show my head(which is bad enough) and not the extra kilos I've gained. I blame Dan Andrews for that. ... nice handball?...

Chicago1 moral of the week from Home and Away is don't pay your bills by credit card?
There is no such word as moral when it comes to Home and Away. I'm hoping it's true that Bella moves to NZ with Nickau. That would be fantastic to get her off the show, though I'd prefer if she were killed in a gruesome manner instead.. Don't you just wanna cut that little kid Jai's long hair? And... how can a detective only work on one case for months? I guess the murder rate ain't too high in the Summer Bay confines.

Hah yeah not too many murders but plenty of other disasters!

Reduction in cash rate target to 0.1 per cent. We're approaching uncharted territory for Australia

My avatar for today is of my father who fought in the Pacific theatre in WWII. This pic was taken in 2002 for Memorial Day at the local cemetery(where he now rests with my mum) at the grave of a veteran. It was in the local newspaper. Dad rarely talked about his experiences during the war with myself or my siblings and we knew why. Lest we forget.
