The article posted by the AFL post game saying "It's a perfect start for a new year at Essendon" pissed me off, West Coast have been trying to move on for years now, completely changed the club culture to the point of it being one of, if not the best in the league yet the Victorian media still won't let us move on. And what's worse is they're trying make the current team pay for it through distractions by releasing "new" information at important stages of a year for the club. Having the front page or pull out of Chicks article posted all over Melbourne streets as the club arrived Melbourne Grand Final week in 2015 was pathetic. Half expect the Norf idiots to boo us and call us West Coke Eagles at the game this weekend. No doubt the commentators will be all over it too.

Because we're heartless West Aussies who will do anything to one up the Vic's in "their league", apparently. Shoes on the other foot and it's a big misunderstanding when one of their beloved clubs does something that actually constitutes systematic cheating.

I'm sure they'll make a big deal about the hype around Mitchell and say it's unjustified too.

Yep. Or they get out the broom stick and sweep it under the rug It's getting old and so is the way the AFL media always needs something to destroy the hype around us when we're up and about too. Be it a (recreational) drug scandal from 11 years ago that has nothing to do with this current group, being ripped on for "ducking" when it was only 4 players max, but they make it sound like it's the whole squad being trained to do it (Joel Selwood is just a genius though) or being labelled flat track bullies, they need a negative reason for our success.

It's all just insulating the Vic's into thinking their precious VFL clubs are still relevant. The truth of the matter is the minor Melbourne clubs are flowering, the 'big 4' are all in various states of disarray, and it's easier to make a puff piece about 'those rednecks out West' to keep the focus off of them, than to actually do anything resembling journalism.

From what I can see they played the womens in the morning which was a free-event, then the afternoon GCS vs Brisbane was paid. That would have been a logistical nightmare, and I think they couldn't host at the gabba due to ground prep for cricket.

Maybe I'm a vindictive tit but if my supported club whom I had trained with already didn't take me when available, I'd be laughing at any notion they wanted me in the future.

Perhaps the implication to SPP was hey we really do want you mate but we need another Luke Shuey until Priddis retires then we will have need for a Dusty type lol..
