Wish we'd picked up Mitch McGovern. After all the time we've spent agonizing over where to play Jezza.. just go get the other one as well!

I can understand it, given that 2014 was the season Gov almost got delisted before making his debut, and we might have been hoping he'd slide to the rookie draft or our pick in the 50s where we took Nelson.

He's a mid size marking forward

Who'd he replace in our side?

Perhaps Hill, though I'd argue he'll be replaced by someone with midfield ability in time

I'll say though - a grab he took last night was carbon copy of his brother

Just on gov - is it me or has the lessening of responsibility on him, actually reduced his performances ?

He's just a pure footballer. In the span of three minutes I saw him take a contested mark in the forward line and set up a goal, lay a huge tackle in the midfield and turn the ball over, and then take a contested mark in the backline to save a goal.

I just really like the Crows setup with three talls, I'd love us to have the luxury to play Gov Mark I forward more often. I know we play Lycett/Naitanui up there but neither of them are natural forwards.

Probably right on Gov, although I think his reputation now makes what he does seem less remarkable. He was awesome against Richmond, but it just becomes expected.

If Mitch turns out to be even 90% as good as Gov Classic except with real shoulders made of real bone instead of the styrofoam joints his brother has I will be filthy.

He's Gov Zero right now, but I can see him quickly accelerating to Gov Diet, or even Gov Diet with Lemon.

Gov jnr is a great 3rd forward and spoil to the other guys. Takes the body of a player out of a contest, faked a grab that aided Lynch/Jenkins last night too. Took a few big contested marks. Got in and dirty when he had too.
Massive tackle late in the game.
The only knock on him is compared to Jezza he doesn't back himself by foot. Jezza takes the risky kick that opens up the game everytime. Gov Jnr always hands it off or goes backwards/sidewys. With some confience he might learn to kick like his brother and could be a top bloddy player.

I was spewing when the Crows took him. He was never going to go to the last round. I think he was their 3rd round pick, about pick 52 maybe.
Spent a bit of time watching him last year and you could see the talent was there. Also spent all of last off season spreading the word on here.
Still surprised he was named round 1. Obviously the Crows and Pyke rate him. Great to see him doing well.

So we will probally lose Lamb to Victoria when we could've had a duo of Gov's. Only thing is if he would of got a go in out side? Seems to fit into Adelaide's forward line along side 3 talls nicely.

You didn't watch his left foot pass to Tex? in the last then? He seems to back himself enough, for me.

Maybe but not like his brother who is Hurn like.
Yea, but I reckon he'll get there because JMc was a bit shaky with his kicking to start, but it wasn't his kicking, per se, it was what he was trying to do. I actually reckon Mitch is starting from a higher base. I suspect he saw some 'errors', if people want to call it that, of Jeremy and learnt from that. That's just my perspective though.
