We also tend to cop a six day break for away games. So we have to fly out with a shortened recovery and preparation period and have less time to adjust to the timezone difference! Thanks, AFL Fixture!

It surprises me some WC supporters are only just realizing what we are up against.

The most two sided playing field competition in the world

Surely we go the tank now.

Anything to gain by stumbling into the 8 and getting wiped out Richmond style?

Might as well miss finals and give the entire club a big kick up the ass
You know it's weird, I might be crazy but I wouldn't write us off completely if we finish 8th and play North, GWS or the dogs. If Hawks finish 5th tho, yeah we're boned.

Hard to be remotely confident about any of those games away from Perth, especially if NN is out for the year.

Dogs maybe.

My theory is that, as the competition becomes more professional, exemplified by the clubs and players controlling their bodies to the nth degree and measuring their activity down to the minute, the effect of every little factor becomes magnified. Sleep quality, recovery from fatigue (lower oxygen tension during flights is a well-known fact), dietary factors and a host of other things vary the more players travel.

We are noticing the effect of these factors more now than before because this year, the competition is more even in terms of talent (well, the top 8 is at least) than it has been for many years.

We also have eight six day breaks, the equal most for all teams. Pretty fair to say we get less recovery time than any other team this year.

These are areas that should be addressed by the AFL in due course. Sydney had the COLA ffs, yet despite the cost of living in Perth sky-rocketing over the last decade and the higher burden of travel our players endure, which manifests itself in shorter careers, we get nothing in the form of equitable action.

The main board threads on this travel factor (linked to one, there are others) are incredibly frustrating because most people just cannot grasp the nuance involved in a logical discussion of issues such as this. The average BigFooty idiot thinks we're making a mountain out of a mole hill and want major changes to the fixturing, such as us having a stack more home games. Why do I visit the main board?

The main board is using Brad Scott's latest premature ejaculation issue to debate whether it's racist for umpires to not pay a free kick to Thomas when he stages for one. Why does anyone visit the main board?
Think of it as a Bay 13 where people take themselves seriously, then it makes sense.

God I hate GWS. If Essendon can put up that much fight against the the AFL's "what would happen if we created a team of only first round draft picks?'' experiment then I'm slightly nervous about the Woosha homecoming. So ironic the way he's got the Bombers playing, if we had 1/10th that level of passion the premiership would be ours. That Tippa bump in the last qtr to put the GWS campaigner into the fence was epic, some of the best work since Worsfolds days.

Geez people kick up a stink about anything these days, gotta quote a few twitter outrages just for good measure too!.
Hope Caro was humiliated, deserves it.
So, joking about harming a women that irritates them, in a week the AFL is campaigning against violence against women, while Bartel is being lauded for his stand on domestic violence.

From a club president that has just become responsible for a netball team and a women's football team.

A level of ****ing stupidity that makes Scott look like a level headed genius

They should reconsider giving them the women's licence, because almost certainly some of the women involved will have been victims.

What's he going to say to them?

Was just going to drop by here and say nice job to Ochre for speaking some reason in the MB thread, but then there are people like you.

Caro won't be humiliated and I guarantee it won't be her who trots out yet another half arsed apology and begs for forgiveness tomorrow morning.

I mean it's almost as if you can't have a group of media personalities, including club presidents and a bloke who glassed his ex partner, turn a conversation about raising money for charity into one about drowning a female reporter?

There are so many, many journos who are worse at their job than Caro, dig up more filth, spread more lies, that get absolute none of what she does. At some point, you just have to ask as to why that might be.

Thanks, but if I'm the one speaking reason what chance do we have?

Add "Carey getting a cushy job on TV" to the list of things that have been baffling lately. Not because of the glassing or the assaulting a cop, because that's all overlookable for the 'good bloke' brigade in the AFL, but the dude was caught shagging his best mate's missus (and said mate was also an AFL player). Surely that loses you 'good bloke' status. Surely some combination of all of the above is enough to keep you from being an AFL-accredited media personality.
