IIRC they just got over a pretty beat up Sydney and their last month of H&A was pretty appalling.
They lost steam very steeply despite falling into minor premiership.

Both Swans and Freo were completely beaten up, either of them would have lost the prelim. The surprise was in how close it was.

As soon as Libba was out I thought Freo were a sure thing.

Didn't see the match but I assume it just took them a bit to adjust to the intensity of the spectacle. Regardless 5th vs 8th should be the most lopsided game of the finals.

As usual ladder position assisted by home ground advantage shon through in the first week of finals. Some entertaining games for sure. Brisbane bounced back but now have a badly depleted list and Melbourne remain suspect under intense pressure. Two teams from the top four will contest the GF - what a shock.

Clear from the four games that strong defence and key defenders, pressure and run and pace in offence and defence is the key. The games lacked some key forward dominance except perehals for Cameron, although Lynch is clearly the most dangerous. The area defence is a thing of the distant past.

I think our emerging game plan and list is looking to be on the right path. It will take 2+ years to transition the list within AFL/CBA and contract limitations.
