Time for another rousing rendition of 'they will never tear up our tarps'.

Wonder if $Ryder$ will request a trade to a club that is in finals contention and in the premiership window?

Here's hoping the AFL move this contemptible shitpile of an organization to Shanghai or Pyongyang or Vladivostok or something like that, and they can take Kochie with them

Should have taken that GWS offer they put on the table.

Sooo can we talk about how port had one really great year out of nowhere built on unbelievable fitness levels that seemed to just be on another level to every other team in the comp, but now their entire team seems unable to run defensively or spread aggressively at all? Is that worth analysing and scrutinising or nah?

Port played 1 quarter, like they did against us.
Absolute flat track bullies.
Love seeing Kochie have a cry.

Like the did against St Kilda as well, not sure Ken knows where to go with them tbh. He's a motivator, not a tactician, they're really missing Walsh (RIP) and Richardson I'd say. Crazy Vossy is no substitute.

Was Don Pyke the brains of the operation, ala Walsh and/or Richardson at Port?

Port's bubble has burst because they play naive and unsustainable football. It's naive because they are defensively fragile and can be picked apart on the counter (because of the risks they take) and unsustainable because it is exhausting.

Hinkley is misleading himself when he says in last night's post match pressure "look at our first quarter, the game plan works".

The problem with the "game plan" is that they have one useful gear and it is super high intensity and high risk. It requires perfect physical conditioning of all of their best players all in form (and executing skills which are not guaranteed with the players they have behind the ball) otherwise it falls over.

If they somehow made the finals and were fit you'd be petrified of playing them in a final. But that's not Port's problem, their issue is developing a sustainable brand of footy that will enable their players to conserve energy but also win games to give them a run at the finals.

They're a more extreme Richmond. Their best is much better but the arse falls out of it even more quickly (with fitness being Port's problem as opposed to Richmond's ******ation).

Want to watch more of the kangaroos but they look solid - My query is ball use out of defence when under pressure.

They've got that look of a real contender about them, don't they?

They seem to control the way each match is being played and then end up victorious.

Any side that is as strong around the ball as they, and as well organised, is going to be able to control the way a game is played. It's the exact opposite of Port, North seem to play at about 75% and win.

Being physically strong enough to control the way the game is played is one of the things Thompson was critical of our list at the end of 2011 is something that really changed the way I look at footy. While the way the game is played may have moved on the principles are still basically the same.

It's why I think that regardless of what the numbers show, the biggest problem with our current team is the lack of power around the ball, the inability to buy time and space to use it well coming out of congestion.

Even just winning the thing is a problem and results is our spending large portions of games with the ball in an opposition's forward half.

Port are rubbish. Could we make a play for Ollie Wines though? He must be lonely at Port being the only one with both a heart and a brain.
