Whilst there is a 2015 World Cup to plan for there is also the final 2013 Champions Trophy to be held in June/July in England this year. Plan for 2015 next summer.
Does anyone honestly give a stuff about the Champions trophy anymore though? I imagine Australia will use that predominantly as an opportunity to get some more experience in English conditions into the test players.

then if thats true , no need for haddin.
give paine a run if wade is resting.

so how many of our first choice XI will be out ??
clarke, watson, m hussey, warner, wade, pattinson (harris , cummins)

ODI squad vs SL (games 1&2): Bailey (c), Cutting, Doherty, Finch, Haddin, Hughes, D.Hussey, Johnson, Khawaja, Maxwell, Mckay, Smith, Starc.

Or in an attempted 13 man batting order

Finch
Hughes
Khawaja
D Hussey
Bailey
Haddin
Maxwell
Smith
Cutting
Johnson
Starc
McKay
Doherty

The selectors really have clue what they are doing. If you are looking toward the next world cup you don't pick Haddin and Dussey do you?? Also Cutting is much more suited to the longer forms so I don't know how he will go.

By Inverarity's words, looks like today will be Mike Hussey's last day of international cricket.

maybe he'll be an inclusion for the Perth game? doesn't sound likely though.

I wonder who our new 'finisher' will be, b/c god help us if it's Steve Smith or Glenn Maxwell

Dropping an ok batsman/substandard keeper for a stupid batsman/substandard keeper who we've tried and failed already?

Ok.

They aren't dropping Wade, they are "resting" him.

The selectors have lost the plot.

If players keep breaking down maybe we should be looking at the training intensity they're putting them through these days.

Stupid. I'm sure Wade doesn't need a rest. What he needs is more time keeping in these mickey mouse internationals until he is competent enough to keep in the ashes.

You'd imagine Wade and Warner would be a straight swap for those two for the next world cup. They're only being rested.

I am very underwhelmed with the squad.

How can you say with a straight face that you are dropping Michael Hussey because he won't be there at the World Cup, yet pick Haddin and Dave Hussey?

What exactly has Ben Cutting done to deserve being promoted in 50 over cricket? I wouldn't be totally against him being considered for test cricket, but in one day cricket he is pure cannon fodder even at state level. I just think there are better options available for one day cricket.

Steve Smith again? What is Khawaja doing in there?

The things I do like is that Hughes has been selected, he has proven that he is one of the few domestic batsmen who is a class above in the Ryobi Cup. Finch has also been deservedly rewarded for his terrific domestic one day and T20 form. Also pleasantly surprised that Christian has not been included.

I like seeing new players get a go, but it's kind of sad the way CA treats the home one day series' these days. No doubt they'll lament the ordinary crowds, but refuse to aknowledge that this is a product of the disdain they show for the matches. How many more people would come in to see Mike Hussey go around for the final time or Clarke continue his golden summer or to watch Warner and Wade smack a few? It's a shame because as we saw last summer and in recent World Cups, the Sri Lankans have a very strong one day lineup and would be a bloody good matchup for our full strength side and could provide some memorable matches in front of some good crowds.

Cutting is this year's Forrest.

Usman is number 3 on the runs tally for the Ryobi Cup. In fact there is a good chance the top 4 in the order will be the top 4 on that list

Khawaja has been in form in the OD comp.. so his selection is rightly justified. Steve Smith has been up and down but was a stalwart of the team so he stayed.

Can someone pull up Haddins ODI and ODD stats between now and 2011.. I have a feeling his highest score would be about 30, with a quite a few single digit scores among that..

If my memory is correct, then how can he possible be selected??
Surely one of the other state keepers will have a better average than him over this recent period..?
