I listed the same question over on Swans board
He’s out of contract, surely North Melbourne has crack, Hawks too
I’d hope Adelaide enquires

He’d fit in well in our midfield, provided poise and pace with skills which we are lacking
Dawson can sell the culture etc to him

Nope
But you along with us are stacked with contested ball winners lack outside polish
And like us are at cap minimum %

I'd be really surprised if he left to be honest. He's local to where I am and the vibe early was he may be a short stay there after his father died but it looks like the Swans have done huge work keeping him feeling like he's home.

They very rarely lose players brilliant setup and culture there, especially for interstate recruits

With so much young talent they can’t afford them all on big $$
I’d put a large offer in front of him at least make him think

Plus with Papley and Mills being OOC end of next year thoughts to be considered

Swans usually don't lose players they want to keep but hopefully Dawson set a new precedent last year, would love Florent at North.

Well if he is out of contract, not much the Swans can if he wants to go.

Trouble for them is if he wants to go to North, they literally have no draft capital (unless future picks come into play) to trade for him, and could snag him in the PSD (Hopefully could come to that)

Would North's 2nd round pick in 2023 work for the Swans if he wanted to go there ? Just spitballing here.

The conversation would break down if it that's what we offered. No idea why he'd pick North of all places to come to though.

No harm in North asking the question.

Think he stays at Sydney too, they very rarely lose requited players, got a really strong culture up there.

Why would we want to give up Florent?
Surely we can afford to keep him , he has enormous potential, still only 23 and 80 games into him. I only see upside with Florent

If North were interested in him they have the money to pay more than we can, and we have no negotiating power there... It would be another PSD steal similar to Dawson was for Adelaide last year... With Dawson being a top 3 player in the Adelaide team now.

Sydney is looking to be in the premiership window the next 5-8 years, so that's one thing for Florent to consider. North is similarly looking at bottom 8 those years

North won't be down the bottom for as long as you think imo.
Should be aiming for finals by 2025

We proved last year with CCJ that beneficial or no we rate club relationship higher than loophole freebies. Either way I don't think we will trade future picks for players at this stage and mids probably aren't a need for us. I'd be enormously surprised if we became linked for those reasons.

Got any key defenders not getting a look in?

We need key defenders. Florent players down back against Brisbane on sunday and was decent enough.
Lot to like about him

It's always other clubs fans sticking the boots in, enough of that. Oh you're a North fan and most likely correct. We're not a very attractive destination currently. My hope is that changes in the next 18 odd months.

Lewis Melican. Contracted to 2023 however. Depending on what the Bloods do re KPD in the draft/trade periods he might slide further in the pecking order and become available if he wishes to return home.

Longmire absolutely loves the bloke though and I expect would not appreciate his loss.

Besides $$, why would Florent consider North? Bright future at Sydney with an exciting young list. If he wanted to come to Melbourne, he'd have plenty of interest from functional football clubs.
